Crypto-sapien

Rate this book
Expansion into the dense forests of a northwestern America town has intruded on something that has remained hidden for thousands of years. It is attacking campers and stealing babies from homes. While most dismiss the sightings, some believe it is the elusive Sasquatch.

A makeshift team is constructed of an anthropologist, a crypto-zoologist, and a construction worker to investigate. They hope to finally discover the Bigfoot before others can exploit it or exterminate it.

During the expedition into the forest, one of the team members is abducted by the Bigfoot. While others have died in recent attacks, the creature keeps the team member alive. The reasons, and the creature's connection with man, is more than they could ever imagine.

Stuck at a relative's home during a snow storm, I accepted my delay and settled in for a night of old Lucy reruns. Unfortunately, when the power went out, I was faced with a darkened room and nothing to do. Out of desperation, I picked up a book off the coffee table that had an intriguing cover. I'm not a sci-fi fan, but I do fancy a good mystery. To my surprise and enjoyment, the story remained close enough to reality or, if not reality, the sense of what would transpire if this being suddenly was in our midst.

Perhaps the darkened room (with only a gas lamp to light the pages) made me realize that I'm not as brave as I'd like to admit. The book was downright eerie. While I had initially hoped the book would lull me to sleep quickly, ended up keeping me alert until the last page. The only downside was the fact that I couldn't fall asleep afterwards, and had to face a long dreary travel day without much sleep the night before.

This was a great diversion. Thanks Alex! Waiting on the next one!

I'm not sure how I feel about this book.

The humor was off beat and the characters were insane, but I was amused by them enough to keep reading...in the beginning.

But by the end, I felt like I was stuck in the woods for a week, lost with no way out. I just wanted it over, because it was no longer funny, but had taken a sharp left into seriousville. Which, I get, but the shift was sudden and unexpected - to me.

And the end was so abrupt I was convinced somehow I had a faulty download that left off the last chapter.

Cautiously recommended.

Cliff Hanger

Totally enjoyed reading this book! However, then ending will definitely drive you crazy! It is a complete cliffhanger! Will they live and be rescued or will they become another statistic? Excellent book and definitely worth reading!!

Wonderful Sasquatch tale!

What a wild and thrilling ride! Mr. Cristo's characters were all well rounded and written, the good ones and the bad. It was even very easy to sympathize with the tribe of sasquatch, even after all the violence they had committed. Again, excellent book!

Intriguing

We all want to believe in legends of big foot or something supernatural. This story told by a group of people that believed. A tale of crypto-sapiens that valued mankind as gods but still seemed to destroy each other.

Good story, but...

Poor editing and proofreading. Past for passed, leads for leaves, etc. Small things maybe but enough to jar me out of the story.
