Rugged Hearts: Part One

Rate this book
Thea Fera is starting over…again. For the third time in the last year. New town. New job. She hopes to fade into the background wherever she goes so he can’t find her. Her stalker. The man who killed her alpha, Connor.

Running is all she’s known for the last year—and for good reason. However, after moving to a small picturesque mountain town, she meets six alphas and a beta whose scents trigger emotions in her she’d rather stay buried. When her suppressants fail earlier than expected, she’s faced with the choice to spend her first heat with strangers. But the idea of being with anyone other than her late alpha is unfathomable.

It turns out being on suppressants for ten years straight, illegally, is not so healthy for an omega. With mini heats popping up and some dangerous complications from the waning suppressants, she has no option but to rely on these men who say they’re her scent match.

Thea can’t afford to let her heart get involved. Not that she has one left after it’s been shredded into pieces. But the more time she spends with them, the more her shattered heart is pieced back together by the very men she’s sworn off. And maybe…she can do the same for them.

Rugged Part One is the first in a duet MFMMMMMM why choose omegaverse romance. It’s first person, multi POV, with a plus-size FMC. The book ends on a mild cliffhanger that will be resolved in Rugged Part Two. Please check the content warnings at the beginning of the book.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3. This book could benefit from further editing. The lack of punctuation and the long, run-on sentences make it somewhat difficult to read. It's also a bit boring because we only see the stalker part come into the picture at the very end.

3.5 ⭐️
As an Omegaverse book it was decent. I personally hate the dead spouse/mate trope. And if this was any other type of romance book, I wouldn’t have read it just because of that. I guess, knowing that he would’ve been in the pack with the guys from this book eased it somewhat for me.
But this book was depressing y’all. For the first 75% of the book it was just all about her crying and being overwhelmed with grief. So it was really hard for me to get into the other MMC’s and her possible relationships with them.
I feel like the author put way too much emphasis on the grief and on her amazing bond with her deceased mate Connor. We also even get Connor’s POV in a flashback chapter, a couple of chapters. That made it even harder for me to move on and not also just be in that grief.
So it was just tough to read this as a romance book. I also feel like because of that the author shouldn’t have given her so many mates. Seven possible mates and one deceased mate was just too much in my opinion. Especially since the first 75% of the book nothing progressed other than her just being in her grief.
And then we literally go from 0 to 100 pretty much out of nowhere. And that almost gave me readers whiplash.
It was a huge turn in the story and in her feelings and it just felt weird and not organic.
The writing wasn’t bad and it had a lot of potential, but I feel like the author tried to throw in everything and the kitchen sink if that makes any sense. I feel like she was doing too much with everything. She was trying to lay it on too thick with the grief and also with the way too many mates. It was all too much and not in a good way.
That being said again, it wasn’t a bad book and it wasn’t written poorly so if you don’t mind the points that I just brought up, you will enjoy the book.

Wow

So much is happening in this book but in a good way.

Thea is trying her best to keep moving whilst also hoping for the chance to quit running.

She suffered a major tragedy due to a stalker & now she’s tired of running. She feels so lost without her Alpha. But then she moves to this new town & starts running into Alphas & a Beta who all have scents that leave her confused.

She is still grieving & doesn’t believe that she should have any happiness after Connor. But these men…minus one of course, all step up & show her not just with words but with actions too that she is deserving.

She still fights with that fear that her stalker will find her again but now she also has to worry about her heat.

After so many years of suppressants, her heat is about to make one heck of an appearance & it could be life threatening.

Thankfully she has these men surrounding her & helping her. And she slowly starts to fall for them.

But then this cliffhanger has me absolutely on the edge of my seat because no sir, she was just starting to really feel happy again.

I’m so anxious to see what happens next.

Great job!

Big Pack, Big Swoon

My goodness! Such an engaging plot, swoon-worthy MMCs, and precious moments!!! I’m hormonal, so take this with a grain of salt, but I genuinely cried while reading.

I love the FMC’s relationship with Connor’s parents, love the way that the MMCs love the FMC. Love the way the MMCs interact with each other. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next part, especially with Micah.

I think the book is really well paced with the exception of her relationship with Liam. I feel like they should be closer than they are at this point. And I feel like I don’t really know Eli and Jake, so I hope they get more love in the second book.

Anyway!! So grateful for a well-written and character driven RH with a plus size FMC and a large pack!!!!! Would definitely recommend!

literally had my attention immediately!

For this to be her first debut novel, it is truly amazing. I was immediately hooked from the beginning and it held my attention the entire time. I love everything about book 1. I am a huge sucker for large harems with the added bonus of being able to easily differentiate the MCs. I love Thea and her men so much. She is very strong for going through what she has. I even teared up a few times. The author did a wonderful job giving us flashbacks to explain her past. While it’s still in the early in their relationship, nothing felt rushed. I can’t wait to read book 2

Good story

I really enjoyed this novel; I think the story is interesting and the characters are pretty well developed. The grammar and editing thereof could use some work, however. The author doesn’t seem to have a good grasp of when it is appropriate to use the word “which” and often the sentence structure seems backwards. I do look forward to continuing the series; I believe this is a debut novel (well done!) and I’m sure the writing will improve over time.

This book was fun and amazing to read!
Having 8 MMC, I was afraid some of them would fall into background but all the characters are unique and have their good and bad. The FMC feels human, her struggles are real and it's easy to connect with her through everything she faces in the book.

The omegaverse is well managed too, having a nice pace to build the romance between the characters and the story unfolding. Totally worth reading!

Fantastic start!

Wow. What a great read! These characters jump off of the page and suck you into the story in moments. My heart breaks for Thea's past, but her guys are making for a hopeful future. The cliffhanger is a killer! I will be sitting at the edge of my seat, impatiently waiting for part 2! Congrats to the author on her debut!

Part one was such a great read, I’m not a fan of slow burns but this one? This one was perfect, I couldn’t imagine finding love again after losing the love of your life. I’m loving the character growth of the entire cast. I can’t wait for part two! Overall this was a wonderful read, I’ve cried so much and I’m pleasantly happy with how many times I’ve laughed and smiled!

Loved this one. Our fmc Thea lost her scent match Connor in a car crash and moves to a small town taking a job as a cleaner for the holiday lodge
There she meets another 7 scent matches. Liam, Eli, Parker, Jake, Ben, Keelan and Micah.
She has been on the run from a stalker who was the cause of her first alphas death.

very enjoyable

I love a good OV, and this one is that. The characters are fantastic, the plot is multi faceted and never does it drag in just to fill pages. I am thoroughly enjoying it as a whole. For a debut, the author knocked it out of the park.

DNF – I tried several times to finish this book, but I just couldn’t get into it. The writing style and story didn’t connect with me or hold my interest.
