The author of the book is engaging and has some really good points. Mr. Jones is a pastor and a former football player and draws a lot of analogies from these parts of his life, not being a pastor or former football player there were times when I didn't feel connected to the writer but I had no problem understanding the point he was trying to make. I read this as part of a men's bible study group and the conversations around what was in the book were often eyeopening for me. The book centers around the battle between David and Goliath and uses that story to illustrate how we can defeat the giants (anger, lust, doubt, fear, etc.) that we face each day. One of the things that stood out most to me was when we see the adult David and his failures with lust is that the story around Bathsheba starts with David sending his men out to wage war while he took a break from the fight. Jones points out that we should always be in the fight, something very easy to forget; I've occasionally found myself in morally compromising situations because, you know, I'm alright, I'm not as bad as some, I'm not in a fight... yeah dude, you are.
