Definitely not a western. I would categorize this more as a suspense novel. I really loved it. There was no fat on this book. It was structurally so clean. I was turning every page. Gritty, gothic, frontier, historical, but it didn't read like historical. It wasn't a typical historical romance. It follows a woman who arrives in a settlement on the frontier expecting to get married. She finds out her fiance has been killed in a robbery. She has to make her way on her own after that. I don't want to spoil anything, enemies to lovers, dark romance elements. Very gritty and realistic. Really loved it.
I saw this randomly recommended on Reddit and gave it a shot! I was very surprised with how fast-paced and engaging it was. Excited to read more from this author!
