You deserve soft things, baby
It was just that maybe, sometimes, Chase thought about what it would be like to be in a relationship. To have someone to go home to. Someone safe. He wondered what it was like to have an Alpha tell him he was good enough, even though there was something wrong with him. To show him that despite all the pieces that were missing, the ones that were misshapen and ugly, he was worth keeping.
Auston wrinkled his nose. He didn’t need a therapist. “I don’t need a therapist.” “Bro, I mean this with all the love in my heart, but no one needs a therapist more than you.”
He’d heard the phrase ‘Don’t meet your heroes’ before, but he hadn’t quite understood it. He did now.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” “Nothing. Just that you don’t get around much, do you?” Chase gaped. Was there such a thing as anti-slut-shaming? Virgin shaming? Rizzless shaming?
A dark, clawed satisfaction purred inside Auston’s chest. Mine, it said, and the proof was right there, Charlie doing everything Auston asked for even if it hurt.
Chase relaxed. “M’kay. G’night, Daddy. You’re so good to me. No one has ever been this good to me…” There was a pause. Chase had no idea how long it lasted as he slipped into sleep. From the other side of wakefulness, he heard one last thing. “You deserve every single thing in this world…and I’m going to make sure you get it.”
I, um, I know I shouldn’t need protecting, that I can do things myself, but…I just want you to know that I really do feel safe when I’m with you. I…I trust you.” “That’s…” Aunix cleared his throat. “Thank you.” A pause. “I don’t take that lightly. That trust—I’m gonna keep it safe. I promise you that.”
