In the quiet corners of her heart, Aga carries the weight of unspoken wounds—love that lingered too long, and a life she never got the chance to hold. She's always been the one left behind, the one who feels deeply but rarely speaks of the storm insider her.

Through every brushstroke, every shade of silence, she begins to piece herself back together—rediscovering the girl she was, and the woman she's still becoming.

But healing isn't simple. With unfinished goodbyes and unexpected second chances, Aga must face the very people who shattered her and ask herself: Is she ready to start again?

This book was quick to read because of the font size and the author's writing style. it delivered exactly what was promised. A story about Aga and how she overcame the uncertainties and trauma that hit her. It was explored well and I find it inspiring seeing a character be braver towards the end.

However, this felt rushed at times. I would like it more if certain scenes were explored better. I feel like some scenes had potential but was rather rushed for the sake of the plot and pacing. I wish I got to see more of Hiro throughout the book. I feel like he had more to tell.

All in all a solid story worth reading.

Start Again delivers exactly what its title promises. The novel follows Aga’s deeply personal and heavy struggles, and yet, the story’s message remains clear and uplifting, that no matter how far you’ve fallen, you can always give yourself a second chance. By the end, we can’t help but feel proud of Aga for finding the strength to start over and conquer what once seemed impossible.

My favorite parts of the story are whenever Klaus is present. Aga and Klaus’ banter reads naturally, as in you can easily imagine two best friends bickering with each other. The author also does a great job creating truly unlikeable characters like Alex. He never fails to annoy me every time he’s around, and the author was right in imagining him portrayed by Korean actor Im Siwan, as he’s perfect for the role of a charming, handsome guy who’s also a big liar and gaslighter. I just wish we had seen more of how his life spiraled by the end of the story.

However, the narration can feel inconsistent at times. There are moments where the tone shifts abruptly from formal to casual, and some of the transitions between English and Tagalog can feel a bit off. Some dramatic moments also have a teleserye-like quality, especially the confrontation scenes. While this heightens the drama, certain character dynamics suffer from underdevelopment. For example, Jasmine is introduced as Aga’s best friend, but even after their fallout, Aga doesn’t seem deeply affected by it—raising questions about whether they were truly best friends to begin with. Klaus, in fact, feels more like Aga’s real bestie.

A few resolutions also feel rushed or unearned. Aga’s reconciliation with her mother, for instance, happens suddenly, without enough buildup to make the moment truly resonate.

Still, the story flows well overall. We begin at Aga’s lowest point, walk with her through her doubts and hardships, and witness her rise again. We’re also treated to the kilig brought by Hiro, who, despite past misunderstandings, manages to reignite a spark in Aga’s heart, slowly pulling her back toward giving love another shot.

By the end, despite some rough edges, Start Again succeeds in delivering an emotional journey of pain, perseverance, and the hope that anyone can begin anew.
