The only thing more dangerous than their bond, is the war it will ignite.
Every unmated female must run. The males give chase. Whoever catches you becomes your mate. No exceptions. No escape.
Kitara Silverbrook was born with the gift of sight, but cursed without the ability to shift. In a world where a wolf’s strength defines their worth, she’s endured whispers, isolation, and the cruel hands of a pack that sees her as nothing but a vessel for power.
When the brutal Claiming ceremony begins, Kitara’s only hope is to run fast enough to avoid being caught by the pack’s enforcer—the male who’s already marked her for torment.
Torn between prophecy and survival, Kitara must decide if she’ll risk her heart on the savage alpha who promises to protect her at any cost.
Even if that cost is war.

This was SO SO SO SO good! I went into this book with moderate expectations because this is a new-to-me author. Color me surprised that this book had me in a chokehold after just one chapter. I lost precious hours of sleep because I stayed up so late to finish this book.
The characters were fleshed out and interesting. The world-building was so good. I loved how much nuance there was to it. The big bads were big and bad, but the MMC was bigger and badder. There aren't enough words in the english language for me to put on paper to explain how much I LOVED Ryker. He's protective and kind to those he loves. He's smart and he's not a hothead. Deep down, he's a sweetheart who has had to become this larger-than-life "evil" being of lore to protect his pack. I loved his interactions with the FMC. She doesn't know what to expect from him at the beginning and it just makes him that much better when he actively takes steps to make her feel safe and comfortable before asking anything of her. The FMC's life was so unfortunate. Her original pack were a bunch of *ssholes. They willfully put her in unsafe and compromising position after compromising position because they felt entitled to her, like she was an object/tool to use. I loved watching her become more herself and grow into her confidence with Ryker alongside her and always supporting her.
The betrayal was rough to read about. There was a tiny and uncertain part of me that pondered the idea of who it was, but I never thought I was going to be right about it. Turns out I need to trust my intuition and my reading comprehension skills more because this is the second time this has happened in the past 2 weeks.
I'm glad things worked out in the end! I'm very curious about Lithia and hoping that the next book is about her and her man/men(?). I'm also very invested in how the overarching plot is going to play out. Here's hoping the next book provides even more answers!
Ah another year another werewolf romance! This book was okay. I’ve read better and I’ve read worse! I will probably read the next book though because I just love a werewolf book haha!
I have no words for the amount of high reviews this has. I STRUGGLED to not dnf this book. The concept as always is good, it's a paranormal romance the bones are there. The writing however needs a lot of work.
Kitara thinks she's broken when she can't shift at age 7. Her pack suckssssss (just read the book ok) and treats her like a tool to serve the pack. We fairly quickly see her participation in the claiming where male shifters show their strength and capture their mates.
Now Ryker, the dominant, primal alpha (daddy) of the Shadowmist Pack has the shifter world fearing him and his pack for their savage ways. They don't play with the society of misogynists and are seen as outcasts. GUESS WHOSE A SCENT MATCH
Add to your TBR if you like: - Shifter Romance - OTT alpha x Seer FMC - PNR world at war - He Falls First - Touch Her and D!e - She Saves Herself (He enables her healing) - Consent King (Ryker)
2.5 Stars. DNF @ 74% It was just okay, predictable…absolutely! Dirty talk was cringe. 😬 The premise was interesting but not enough to keep me invested.
This had a lot of potential and I loved the first 50%. My overall enjoyment was dampened when I realised the book was kind of like that Big Bang Theory joke about Raiders of the Lost Arc; you could take the female MC out and the exact same events would happen. She was so unnecessary to the plot. Her whole arc about being needed and providing help felt forced because she was right, she didnt provide anything. And then even worse, the epilogue basically undermined her even further, as if that had even been possible. But I did love the first 50%, their development of the relationship was cute, the bonds forming in the pack. The spice was fun! The general premise and concept I loved too. I will definitely read from Evie Mitchell again, just sadly this fell short for me.
Kitara is a Seer who cannot shift into her wolf form, though her wolf is very vocal within her. Her pack has abused her and her gift of sight her entire life. They treat her as broken and less than. They force her to have visions that tax her physically and mentally. When it’s discovered by other packs that they were hiding her existence, she is forced into a Claiming ceremony where the enforcer of her pack threatens to claim her only to continue to abuse her and force breed her. Since she cannot shift she is at a severe disadvantage to the male wolves from her and other packs determined to claim her only to force her to breed more Seers for their own use. She catches a scent her wolf recognizes as its mate and when the enforcer of her pack catches her an Alpha attacks and fights off multiple other wolves to claim her for himself. Alpha Ryker of the Shadowmist pack claims the Seer as his mate and the Grand Alpha Thaddeus of all packs tries to deny him. Kitara has a vision of Ryker killing the Grand Alpha and the Grand Alpha demands the Seer stay with his pack “for the good of all packs”. Ryker refuses as he claimed her fairly. They escape as a fight breaks out and return to his pack’s den. Ryker begins to show her she isn’t broken because she cannot shift and welcome her truly into his pack as his mate and the Alpha Female. She slowly begins to find friends and her place in the pack, as well with Ryker, while learning how to use her gifts without being hurt by them. They fall in love and truly bond which is of course when Thaddeus begins his plans of attack on them to steal back the Seer and foil the prophecy of Ryker slaying him. Ryker reveals that he is the bastard son of Thaddeus to Kitara and Thaddeus offers a parley that they recognize as most likely a trap. Kitara is kidnapped after being betrayed by a plant in their pack and Ryker will stop at nothing to get her back. I enjoyed this shifter world and the ideas of changing tradition and welcoming diversity/differences as gifts not hindrances. Lovely parallel to some world politics at play currently with these written pack dynamics. Some fun knotting spice with praise kink thrown in which we live in a shifter romance! All around a fun world and I can’t wait to get more of Lithia, Levi, & our new rogue Kier.

Well. I will say that I liked the book in the beginning. The story felt compelling and intriguing. I wanted to learn more about this seer and the world.
And then I realised just how…simple the plot was.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It was just straightforward, no flare or deviation in the plot to mix things up. It hit all the usual niches, plot devices, and story beats. It almost seemed too good to be true, if I’m being honest.
Very quickly, I found the writing to be…too clean, if that makes sense? Like everything was written and lined exactly as many, many other books I’ve read. Maybe it’s because I read so much, maybe it’s the story being too linear for me. I’m not sure, but it almost made me want to stop because it got me thinking, and I worried that I finally found a book that felt so off to me that I worried about the implications of it. I don’t want to accuse or say anything since I would be devastated if accusations got out and it turned out not be true. But that is my opinion, and I’m not going to push much further than that about it.
Anyways, just as I mentioned, the story felt too linear for me, and because of this, everything was predictable. I’m sure this book is fun for those who don’t read as much as I do and to those who don't overanalyse (I know, I’m the problem), but for me, I was expecting more.
For instance, Kitara (which threw me off because all I could picture was Kitara from Avatar), having grown up with so much trauma and abuse from her former pack, suddenly forgets all that she endured because some guy was nice to her and showed her a bit of kindness, all within a couple of days. Actually, during their first full conversation, they kiss. I just really wanted to shake her because who gets over everything they’ve endured in their lifetime nearly instantly? It was very unrealistic. Trauma creates lasting pain and suffering on someone, it makes them not trust, not to believe and afraid. There was none of that to be had in this story. Other than her repetition of what they did to her in the past. The connection between Kitara and Ryker was near immediate that I almost stopped reading because of it.
Where is the tension? Where is the suspense? Where is the resistance?
There was none.
And because of the linear story, the bad guys were very easy to predict. Why continue announcing changes and adjustments to plans with everyone while knowing you had a traitor in your midst? There was no proper questioning or sleuthing to figure out who was betraying them, and all I wanted to do was scream, "It's Zella!"
And then there is Kitara being given a knife, a special knife (ohhhhh). And guess what? She never uses it! What is the point of this knife that she never touches? She knows she is to be captured and yet does nothing to save herself. Self preservation of a golden retriever.
And then the last 20% I skimmed. It ended up being very cliché and rushed. And parts of the book were repeated, sometimes word-for-word, in different chapters that I just ended up not caring and skipped over much of the story. Why are paragraphs very nearly repeated? Why are actions also repeated? For instance, it is known that Ryker was right outside the compound, waiting to rescue Kitara, so they had her moved. And then, two chapters later, it’s nearly the same instance as before. Nearly the same dialogue, someone rushing in to announce Ryker was there to rescue her, and then they move her again. And then the beginning chapter of Kitara nearly dying (what the heck was that chapter about??), just the same as the beginning chapter when Ryker was recovering after, also, nearly dying.
I don’t know what happened, but I didn’t like it.
I really wanted to love this book, but I guess it just wasn’t for me.

Summary: FMC is a seer. She has amazing power and is wanted by many alphas. However, she is seen as broken because she cannot shift. She has a wolf but cannot shift. It is her time to be a part of the mate race. Females run and the male that catches them become their mate.
MMC is the alpha of a powerful pack. He has come to the mating races to find a mate. He scents the FMC and knows she is his fated mate. He catches her. However, she is not use to people wanting her for herself but for her gift.
This is a story of what happens when the FMC discovers love for herself and not her gift. When she begins to walk in the fullness of her power. There is also the aspect of war because many other alphas want her. HEA
Review: This is my first book by this author and I loved it. I found myself engaged and I didn't skip any pages. I loved that the FMC grew into her power and was never able to shift. Although, I must admit I kept waiting for her to have that ability. I loved how the pack was not accepting of her at first but grew to love her.
I loved how the MMC knew he loved her from the start and set out to help her heal from the abuse of the past. I loved the timing and progress of their love story. I was shocked by who was the traitor. I mean really shocked.
All in all I loved the book and am happy that there is another book in the series. I look forward to reading it. ***************************************************************************** FOLLOW ME ON: INSTAGRAM📢 https://www.instagram.com/bibliodarling/
4.5 ⭐️ but can’t give half stars on here so rounded up!
I really enjoyed this book and for Evie’s first shifter novel it’s a fab read! I was hooked, I did think the pace slowed a little in the middle and I started to lose focus a little, but then the ending was well paced, fast hitting and had me gripped til the end.
Kitara is a seer and a shifter who is unable to shift. Mistreated and used for her gift by her pack she longs to break free of them. Every inmates female must run in the claiming ceremony and whichever male catches her becomes her mate. After he Alpha has hidden her existence and she is discovered, kitara must run. When the mysterious shadowmist Alpha (Ryker) claims her, can she trust her wolf that he is her mate? Ryker knew the moment her caught her scent that the seer was his fated mate and from that moment on he would do everything within in his power to protect her from the grand alpha and his minions who want to abuse her gift for his own nefarious plans. Can Ryker keep his promise to kitara to keep her safe and fulfil the prophecy that foretells that he will be the one to overthrow the grand alpha and restore balance and unity to the shifter world?
I loved Ryker, strong, protective, possessive, he would burn the whole world down to keep kitara safe. He is so soft, gentle and caring with her, the complete opposite of everything kitara has experienced and was expecting from mating with someone. Kitara is much stronger than she realises and with Ryder’s help and guidance she learns to hone her seer skills and begins to gain the confidence within herself.
I can’t wait to read book 2 which is lithia’s story and after her experience being touched upon at the end of book 1 I can’t wait to read book 2!.

Thanks, @eveimitchellauthor for the ARC! Kitara Silverbrook may have been born with the gift of sight, but she's also been cursed. She's a wolf who can't shift. She's been treated like a commodity by her pack and now is being forced to run in the brutal Claiming Ceremony. Her pack's Alpha is making sure she will be claimed by one of his lackeys, which will ensure she will be under his 'service' forever. They were not counting on the Alpha of Shadowmist pack claiming her and making her his pack's Alpha Female. Now everything is leading to a war and her mate is ready to do anything to keep her safe. I loved this one! I always count on Evie to deliver and she did! This story hits every note in the genre of paranormal romance with wolf shifters and fated mates. I was particularly happy with how the "broken" Kitara is never seen as that by Ryker. She is not 'less', she's just different. And when she's finally sees as who she is, she begins to shine. The story also has all the machinations and war games, with treachery and danger lurking everywhere. First in the series, I truly appreciated that, though I am craving for more, Evie didn't leave us hanging with a classic cliffhanger - she just gave a taste that wants us wanting more. If you are looking for a romantic, very steamy, action-packed wolf shifter romance, Feral Fates is going to hit all the spots. Content notes: Contains (but not limited to) coercive situations, torture, activity, violence, gore, ableism, eugenics, forced breeding themes, psychological trauma, child neglect and abandonment. Please refer to the author's website for a more comprehensive list.
When Evie Mitchell posted that she was writing a paranormal romance duology I might have done an embarassing happy dance because one of my favourite authors writing in one of my OG favourite sub-genres? Sign me up, please!
Feral Fates is the story of Kitara, a wolf shifter without the ability to shift - but does have the ability to see potential futures - and caught in a patriarchal society that sees her as nothing more than a broodmare and commodity to be sold to the highest bidder (or, in this case, the wolf that can chase her down). Ryker is the leader of an outcast wolf pack - feared and hunted by the rest of the packs, especially after he claims Kitara for his own. her gift of sight is something his pack needs, but more than that, she’s his mate and he’s not letting her go.
The book hits all the paranormal romance/fated mates storyline beats that make the genre so recognisable. It’s fast-paced, gritty and high stakes for the two main characters. Kitara’s lived her life in fear for a long time and her new pack don’t know what to make of a wolf who can’t shift, but everyone begins to see how important a role she’ll play in their lives. It’s also very steamy, for those looking for that! I had a lot of fun with it and can’t wait to read the second book.
Feral Fates is available now on Evie Mitchell’s website, and releases wide on October 15th. Thank you to Evie for the review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5/5 ⭐️s 🌶️🌶️ - medium spice, multiple explicit scenes
LOVES: - I was immediately drawn to the way the FMC thought about the way she was treated in her pack and was anxious to see a change. It felt like I could draw parallels to reality despite the paranormal world it was set in. - The way Ryker treated Kitara with respect and earned her trust was 🔥 He also showed the perfect example of how consent is sexy. - It was so satisfying to see Kitara grow into her confidence and master her abilities. - The two styles of leadership shown throughout the book were written so well. Evie made it feel realistic, especially by showing how both sides truly felt like they were doing what was best. The grey areas of those types of conflicts are very tricky. - Evie really kept me on my toes! There were lots of sneaky moves and big battles and dramatic scenes. It definitely kept my interest. - Then that epilogue had me so ready to know what’s going to happen next!
“No one’s ever offered to build me up before. Only to tear me down, use what they needed, and leave the rest.”
I think this has taken over the number one spot for me of Evie’s books! I am officially invested in this world and the bonus epilogue was sweet too 🥰
Thanks to the author for the advance copy 💝 Releases October 15th - available now on her website!
"Evie Mitchell's latest Shadowmist Pack novel is a captivating shifter romance that surpasses expectations. From the first page, Kivara's heartbreaking backstory of rejection by her original pack resonates deeply, highlighting her unique status as a non-shifting seer wolf valued only for her prophetic abilities.
Alpha Ryker's entrance transforms Kivara's world, claiming her during a mating run and offering her the acceptance and support she's always craved. Their connection transcends typical shifter dynamics, presenting a nuanced exploration of belonging and personal worth.
The narrative expertly weaves intense action and high-stakes conflict, with a menacing Grand Alpha Wolf threatening the Shadowmist Pack and targeting Kivara and Ryker specifically. Mitchell balances pulse-pounding suspense with tender romantic moments and sizzling chemistry.
This novel stands out for its rich character development, compelling plot twists, and emotional depth. Ryker and Kivara's relationship is both passionate and empowering, making them an unforgettable couple that readers will eagerly revisit.
A must-read for paranormal romance fans, this book sets a high bar for the genre and leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next installment, Savage Mate."
A love story and an epic action packed shifter story
This book started very powerful and intense grabbing me into the story immediately.
Fairly quickly Ryker became more than just the feared Shadowmist alpha. He became a real person who leads through respect and loves his pack.
Kitara is a seer who can't shift. She has always been told she is broken and worthless except for her use as a seer.
Together Ryker and Kitara are better. They are supportive of each other. The beauty of their story is watching their love grow and the respect they have for each other.
There are lots of pack politics, shifter violence and plots twists and surprises in the background as their love deepens. I really enjoyed this story so much. I'm looking forward to the next story in this world of shifters.
Feral Fates is the first book in the Shadowmist Pack series. It was another great read from Evie Mitchell. It's very different than the other books that I've read from her, and I was highly impressed. Feral Fates is a dark paranormal romance which kept me glued to kinderella. This book was very angsty, steamy, and action packed. The character development, world building, and political intrigue were very well written and immersive. The steam was steaming and the plot was definitely plotting in this case. I'm equally excited and impatient about the next book. I can't wait for more. I truly did not want this book to end, I was not ready. 😭
This is an intense, emotionally charged story of survival, power, and finding your worth when the world has tried to strip it away.
Kitara has spent her life being treated as nothing more than a tool — overlooked, neglected, and cast aside by her own pack. She’s been made to feel small and expendable. But beneath the damage is a quiet strength waiting to rise.
Enter Ryker, an Alpha who doesn’t see a pawn — he sees her. He respects Kitara, challenges her, and gives her the space and support to grow into her power. Watching her gain confidence and step into her strength is one of the most satisfying parts of the story.
Filled with violence, ruthless pack politics, betrayal, shocking twists, passionate romance, and high-stakes action, Feral Fates delivers drama and heart in equal measure.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Started off really strong, really enjoyed it. Solid plot. Execution… meh.
Then the words started repeating themselves after like every few statements. Like, let’s thrown in a synonym or something.
Then the whole thing with her gift, I get Ryker says he didn’t want to use her gift and that’s shown but Kitara rarely offers to use it. Which stood out to me. Most times it was Ryker suggesting what to do with her gift. So that whole bit about her gift “doesn’t matter” was kinda lacking. It was giving the writer didn’t want to write that’s whole arc I guess. Kitara comes to realize she is more than just her power but every time she uses its always kinda told to her but Ryker.
Last thing, the whole kidnapping part fell flat. Mostly cause I predicted the traitor chapters before. Hope that goes into detail more for the next book.
Fantastic read! This novel kept coming up on my social feed and I finally succumbed. And, no regrets!
"My fate wasn't mine to see. It was his to claim."
I loved this story and was fully invested in Kitara and Ryker's pairing. I adored the fact that Ryker was certain about her from the get-go. There was no hesitation on his part in claiming her. It was beautiful to see her blossom under his care and mentorship, as he helped her get to grips with her gift. It was frustrating reading how her old pack treated her and the horror that would have faced her if she hadn't been claimed by Ryker. I enjoyed seeing her confidence grow and earning respect from the pack, as well as her rightful place by Ryker's side. I enjoyed the element of mystery and the secrets revealed throughout the story. I was completely gripped and look forward to reading the next book very soon.
Bleh. There was nothing feral about this. This was so sickly lovey and sweet. It was nauseating. If that’s what you’re in the mood for this book will probably work for you. But, if you were picturing something feral or unhinged, then absolutely not. This is not how I like my shifter romances and that’s honestly just a me thing.
The theme of love conquers everything wasn’t just a baseline theme for the book, it was literally said in the book. There’s no metaphor it told you that’s what was happening and I like my writing a little bit more complex than that.
(Please ignore any mistakes in this review. I used talk to text and this book isn’t worth me going back through to fix any)
Ryker is an actual Alpha. I'm here for it ! ! !... Finally. Lately "Alpha" is a very sad comparison to the word. Abusive doesn't mean Alpha. (Just venting)..
The odds are stacked. Mitchell you best deliver.
Thaddeus’s died a little too easy... Hence the star drop.
Why was our girl not just called Luna to the pack?
I just wanted more of our seer, she is the whole story. Not sure what that whole business with the Big Bang Theory is about??? No context, no significance. End of.
I almost didn't read this book because of it....
What a shame that would have been.
Obviously there could have more fleshing out but that's me being pedantic. For this year I can count on one hand stories that held my interest.

This was a very different kind of book to the ones I've read by Evie Mitchell so far, but I mostly enjoyed it. Weirdly, every now and then I sort of forgot Ms Mitchell was the author because it FELT like an early Kit Rocha/Moira Rogers book, which is... kind of a compliment, given how I've devoured those.
And look, there are elements of it that didn't work for me (I will NEVER understand the obsession some authors have with the idea of knotting. Just... what? Why?), but the overall political storyline worked for me, I loved watching Kitara develop as a character over the book, and it looks like Book 2 has been set up nicely with Lithia and her HOPEFULLY why-choose partners.
Let's say I've read far WORSE first books in a PNR series.
This is Book 1 of the Shadowmist Pack series. And a FANrastic start it is! Look forward to more from this world.
'Perfect for fans of steamy, blood-and-bond shifter romances where the the mating is primal, the Alphas are feral, and the only rule is survive together or die alone.'
The characters drove the storyline and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

An excellent read: fast-paced, with a healing arc and relatable characters. Was so good I willingly ignored my responsibilities for it (Who needs sleep when you've got a good book?) and would happily recommend it to all paranormal romance fans. Those who enjoy political intrigue will also find this a satisfying read, and (perhaps it goes without saying) that any fan of werewolf/shape-shifter stories should put this on their TBR. There is spice, but those who are not fans of on page intimacy can easily skip past without missing any of the plot, while those who like their books hot won't be disappointed.
When I heard that one of my favourite authors was going to write a shifter book I was so excited and extremely lucky to receive an advanced reader copy! Once I started to read Feral Fates I could not put it down. Kitara and Ryker’s story was full of twists and turns. Together they are a force beyond nature and work as one with Ryker’s pack to bring peace to the wolves. As well as a brilliant plot there is plenty of steamy scenes and a real sense of camaraderie. These are my own personal opinions and not linked to me receiving an ARC.
This is a good book with interesting plot. I did find myself skimming though. The hero was too perfect, and the heroine developed but I found her a bit exhausting at times. I am finding it hard to describe exactly what my difficulties were with the book, expect perhaps it dragged at times and I found myself a little bit bored. Quite predictable,,with a bit of cliches in there. Even the “twist” was evident if you read carefully. It’s a good book with intelligent plot, but nothing makes me want to read the next one…
This was slow and not interesting enough for me. I don't care for the usual weak heroine who is mistreated and cannot fight. The storyline was slow moving and more about how the FMC as a seer can used her power. Not interesting enough of a heroine but boring. The enforcer female was more interesting than the FMC. Could not get pulled or hold my interest reading this boring storyline.
