I really, really, loved this book!
It’s like mixing a bit Hunger Games, Red Rising, and Crescent City together for an intense mix of trials, dystopia, magic, and celestial beings.
The characters are intriguing, and go through a lot of self-reflection. The love triangle was pretty hot, and I definitely didn’t get enough of Orion yet.

The games themselves were interesting and different from others I’ve come across - which is exactly what I want. The found family is so sweet and relatable. Revenge and betrayals were agonizing and got me right in the feels.

This was so close to being five stars from me… I just wanted more!
I love what is there, but if it was another 200+ pages to dive a bit deeper into the games, politics, and relationships, I would be obsessed.

I will follow up with a sequel as I definitely hope to get those missing pieces from another installment.

“ 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 — 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚: 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝.”

In this book you’ll meet Zellie. A human living in an intergalactic unit stationed on planet Lunara.

She gets an invitation to attend the Gemini games to compete for moonstones to restore the Gemini constellation.

“𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨.”

But as she competes she comes to realize some corruption within the magical hierarchy.

“ 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙, 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩, 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡. 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙖 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙡𝙚. 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙.”

This book kind of gave me hunger games vibes, but more adult version. If you liked the hunger games, I think you would enjoy this book.

I’m unsure if there will be more to this story, it does say book 1 of 1 of the starborn saga. I did find the ending too quick and a lot left unresolved.

Think Hunger Games, but make it celestial and more mature.

What do I mean by that: the broad strokes of the story are Hunger Games-esc. 10 contestants forced into a dangerous series of games were they are tested (and not all survive) that people from a different society watch as entertainment.

But Willa Hollis makes it her own both in the setting (a celestial themed world brought to life through her descriptive writing) and maturity (in the writing itself, in the language used, and in the actions of the characters).

Given that we were left on a cliff hanger, I don’t know if some of my open questions and feelings will be addressed in the sequel, or if they are plot holes. For example, was Zellie’s erratic behavior caused by Orion’s ability to control her mood and emotion? Will we learn why Leo was so intense in his interest in Zellie? And what did Pluto mean when he said Zellie wasn’t made of stardust?

I struggle with putting a score on this. If we get more closure on all my questions in the second book, then this would be an easy 5 stars for me since I can’t stop thinking about it. But if all the threads aren’t pulled together, it would lower the score for me. I’m taking the middle road and saying 4.5 stars.

Thank you to Willa Hollis for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review

This writing style is VERY young for an adult book and it’s honestly not my style at all. I love YA books but the 17yo in this reads like he’s 10. 🤦‍♀️ And the 27 FMC reads like she’s 17.

I also am not a big fan of the big emphasis on the zodiac - mainly because we are on a completely different planet from ours. Why would they have the same constellations??? ☠️ It makes absolutely no sense at all.

Overall, I just have zero desire to keep going here.

this was really good i just wished the pacing was a bit more cohesive and the relationship developments were a bit more paced out and explained to make them burn right. other than that, it's stellar fantasy world and i can't wait to find out more about it!

The Gemini Games was pretty good. This book is very similar to the hunger games but it's fantasy. I did enjoy the story overall but I am really looking forward to seeing the story development throughout the series.

This is a very difficult book to connect with. Pacing is so fast and disjointed, causing everything to feel very shallow.
The relationships between characters develop so fast that there's no depth or belief to them. The change up in the enemies to lovers happens within seconds. It causes the writing to come over as very immature. If things were slowed down and developed upon this book would read so much better. In its current state, it reads like a book for 11+ year olds by it with swear words and spice.

Zellie, Leo, and other contestants of the Gemini Games are torn from the only homes they’ve ever known to compete in a game they’ve never heard of in a place they know nothing about for a celestial government they don’t quite trust (and shouldn’t.)

With her knowledgable mentor Orion by her side, one might think Zellie has it in the bag, but the intergalactic unit she was raised in hasn’t unprepared her for a mental and physical game where the contests, designed by magical entities, don’t seem fair for humans to navigate safely.

Zellie turns to the brooding and musclebound Leo for comfort but is never quite sure if she wants things to heat up with the fiery Orion instead.

By the time the last game rears its ugly head, the reader prays for Zellie’s survival. What finally happens...I won’t say, but the captivatingly magical imagery at the end of The Gemini Games left me wanting more.

Perservere or Perish.

4 out of 5 ⭐
3 out of 5 🌶️

Ripped out of her "normal" existence, Zellie Torro is selected for the Gemini Games with no opportunity to say no. Thrown into a world where the Kosmos put 10 Geminis against each other to find the hidden moonstones, Zellie finds love, friendship and herself.

The book was a little slow to start but really ramped up once the games started. The ending definitely leaves on a cliffhanger, leaving us wanting to read book #2....now.

Favorite Scene in the book? Definitely when Leo throws a hairbrush at Orion and hits him in the face. Had a good giggle over that.
Most disappointing part of the book? Not finding out what what Leo's secret is....I'm a need to know kind of person. Cliffhanger much?!
Most heart wrenching part? Lenny. I'll leave it at that.

Definitely would recommend. Reminded me of the Hunger Games, but different.

In the simplest terms of describing this book, Think hunger games, but in space, with some zodiac vibes.

In more words:

The human population is oppressed, and doesn’t even know it. They dont know what they’re missing unless they’re chosen by to participate in the constellation games.

The constellation games are described by the “overlords” i.e. the Astrals, as games meant to power and improve the lives of everyone, including the humans.

The contestants must participate in trials and collect special stones. The winner is promised power and a better life. Zell, our girl, is a jack of all trades, good at alot of things, but really as is the case with most really a master of none. She definitely doesnt have mastery of her feelings either. I loved how real and raw she felt.

Falling for the wrong man, definitely didnt see that coming.

Like Leo, really my guy? What a let down you were. I was all for the fierce protective thing he had going on, but at some point the signs started to point in the wrong direction…and i guess the stars did too. I was flabbergasted, and so so disappointed in him.

Riri? The golden man. 😩 He talked the talk, and ended up walking the walk.

I sincerely hope we get more, this book surprised me in the BEST way.

I cried when she cried, i raged when she raged. It all felt so genuine.

I look forward to seeing Zellie shine bright in what I hope is another installment.

This story was very interesting and unique from the beginning. It follows Zellie our badass FMC as she has to navigate some trials and let’s be honest some of life’s tribulations. Along the way she falls into a lil love triangle which life ultimately sort of decides who is a top contender for her heart.

the magic system is so cool and the world felt very much Zenon Z3 meets the Hunger Games in all the best ways. I loved that the world is built around astrology and the personality traits are very much incorporated into the day to day. Wait as I’m reflecting and writing this at midnight- Ms. Hollis really said Gemini gonna Gemini. Because so much of what takes part is also partly the Gemini way. Damn! See the zodiacs and magic system are so well fleshed out! I really enjoyed the trials that Zellie has to face and her found family. I also enjoyed learning and exploring the world through Zellie.

I will say this is the first time I was so shocked at a decision a FMC has to make after a betrayal. I was both rooting for the decision and also absolutely heartbroken for Zellie. Our girl Zellie really goes through it.

Now that cliffhanger at the end! I was completely shocked and was like wait Ms. Hollis where’s the rest!! But alas I’ll have to wait until the next book. So next book when??

Gemini Games by Willa Hollis

Who can Zellie trust, her gorgeous, caring level headed mentor or the man that gets her heart racing just by looking at her.

In the words of Celeste “Well, this is the messiest love triangle I have ever encountered.”

She is not wrong, and I spent most of the story wanting Zellie to pick the one she wasn't with 🤣

It's fun how this book is set in space, I haven't read any books that are and how their hair represents their star sign is intriguing.

I mean I LOVE Pluto....Disney Pluto but not Pluto in this 🤣

I did feel that I wanted to get to know the characters more in depth as their love and hate all happened very quickly which for me made the spice a bit awkward.

I enjoyed this book, and it was a quick easy read especially as the chapters were short! My Fav!

It gave me hungar games vibes but in space.

But I did love Lenny and Zellie going for Ice Cream together and trying different flavours....especially when Lenny often didn't like his choice 😂🍧🍨

Also FYI it finishes on a cliffhanger so good luck 😂😋

I read this as an Arc for an honest review

I thought the whole idea of the book was really interesting. This had a high-stakes competition and strong twin dynamics and a world filled with tension and secrets. I honestly thought this book had strong potential, and there were good moments where this story pulled me in. But I think the book wasn't for me. I thought some parts were kind of rushed. The characters didn't really do it for me either. Still, the writing was excellent, and the pacing did pick up at the end. Just because I was fully in the story, I think that if you like competition-style stories or dystopian ones, The Gemini Games should be your next read.

Wow! Okay, this book give me the Hunger Games vibe and Trial of the Sun Queen vibes. Very interesting and it had me wanting to keep reading. The ending????? What was that. I have so many questions. We have trials, puzzles, riddles, morally grey characters, found family, corrupt politics, elemental magic, betrayal.

If you like a book with riddles and trials with a twist then this book is for you. My brain is still trying to figure out what happened. I need povs from Leo and Orion.

“It’s time to rise.”

Wow! This book was an immediate five stars for me. The world building, characters, and unique fantasy setting had me hooked from the start!

This book has everything that I LOVEEE in a book! Trials, found family, a strong FMC, betrayals, and the best one…. Touch her and die.

The love triangle in this book is written perfectly. Zellie and Leo’s relationship is full of intense emotions, love, and strength. While we see a connection with Zellie and Orion full of support, recognition and affection. I honestly could not pick between Leo and Orion at the moment, they are both great suitors for Zellie and I am so excited for book 2 🫶🏻

Thank you so much Willa Hollis and Happily Booked PR for giving me the opportunity to ARC read this amazing book!!

I was provided an e-ARC. Thoughts are my own. Thank you to happilybookedpr and the author!

From page one, The Gemini Games hurtles you into high-stakes chaos: ten human contestants, five trials, and a corrupt divine order that expects nothing less than survival. Zellie Toro is thrust from her familiar life into the brutal arena of the Gemini Games, and what follows feels like The Hunger Games meets cosmic fantasy.

Three things stood out to me most. One, I loved the zodiac/celestial related magic system and the setting is expansive. Two, the emotional intensity and Zellie’s evolution, scrambling for humanity, identity and power. She felt vulnerable and angry and it was easy for me to relate two. Three, I am a sucker for the found family trope. In the middle of betrayals and mistrust and deadly stakes, Zellie forms bonds with the people around her. It helped me sort of ground the high stakes in the emotional.

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a fast-paced cosmic trial fantasy with a strong heroine, found family, betrayal that stings, and emotional wreckage, this one’s for you.

Oh where to start! This book was amazing. At some point in the book I decided to read reviews and I noticed a lot state there is lack of information on the games or character building. Here are my thoughts to this. There is a very popular dragon rider series where the author made an announcement at a Q&A that stated the book is from the main characters POV so the lack of information or lack of building is due to this. THIS BOOK!!! THIS BOOK is just like that. Not a lot of answers around the games or characters in the story but hopefully future books will deliver this information.

This book is from Zellie (MFC) POV. She is a 27 year old female where she has lived her life on a planet where everything is decided for her. Food is bland, parents are not a thing. If there is need for reproduction, this is determined who and when. Then one day, Zellie gets a letter that says she is being selected for the Gemini Games. The letter states to not tell anyone and Zellie puts the clues together that those that have went missing were pulled into the game. She goes to tell her friend that if she just disappears, she will come back and while trying to talk, she flashes away like a shooting star. When she arrives at the planet where the games are held, she meets her trainer Orion. We are going to call him MMC #1. While she is learning the other's that are going to compete, she meets Leo (were calling him MMC #2). he is a 29 year old. While he is a butt butt to her, she falls fast for him. During their relationship, certain things happen. Then of course you have Orion while is another love interest. Yep, a love triangle where the triangle is definitely an interesting triangle. I don't want to spoil too much but let's say, it gets good. There is some spicy scenes.....

Let's talk about the games, there are 5 tests during this game to have 12 shards collected by the top 3 in order to get power to the planets. Needless to say, our lovely Zellie is a strong willed, says what she thinks kinda character. Oh this character. I love her and when you think about how she is raised, you realize that the connections she makes with these other competitors is more natural. She tries to take Lenny under her wing as he was friends with someone she is friends with back from her planet. During the competition, certain characters pass away. The hardest one for me was during the 4th game. Oh did I cry and my heart breaks. During the 5th and final, you learn the truth about the games and how people Zellie thought she could trust might be able to still trust but might not be able to. The ending after the games... OH MY!!!! I couldn't sleep thinking about this book. I cannot wait until the next book. This book was sooo good. Reminds me of Hunger Games but with a celestial twist but with humans being the "low life" species where they are used for a reason (which you will find out this reason).

I am thankful I was selected as an ARC reader for this book. It wasn't one that stood out to me right away but this will be one I will highly recommend over and over again as this book is living rent free in my brain. If this says anything, I stayed up fighting sleep to finish this book as I couldn't sleep until I finished. And yes, I read it in 1 day.

I was given an ARC copy through #happilybookedpr and #willaholliswrites.
I really wanted to love this book - the concept is great, though it compares a lot to The Hunger Games. Still, it is more mature and brutal in it's machinations.
Something fell a bit short for me - while I like the FMC Zellie I didn't really get to know her enough to really feel for her. That said, she was strong and intuitive when it came to things she could control, but seemed to careen headlong into stubbornness and blind trust at the wrong times.
I guess these flaws made her more endearing and real, but they confused me; her decisions confused me.

Loe and Orion as potential suitor MMCs were also a bit confusing.
Zellie fell too fast for Leo, and their arc was no surprise at the end for me. I wasn't convinced by him at all. His betrayal made no sense, and her passion for him - which happened way too quickly - felt contrived. It went from 0 to 100 in a minute, and I knew it would fizzle and burn her.
On the other hand, Orion was like Zellie, falling for her so quickly, and their familiarity was so fast - though I think the author tried to portray him as conflicted about falling for his charge, it came off again as rushed and stilted.
The found family aspect also happened too quickly - while I get that people in desperate situations cling to one another for support, again, it was very fast to me. But if we'd had a chance to get to know the other contestants better, it may have felt more natural.

While this book wasn't really for me, there were good things about it. The world-building was really well done - I felt the desolation of Zellie's home - the dark, drabness of the days and nights and the contrast of her displacement for the months the games were running. The colour and opulence she was faced with after a life of darkness and sadness were evident.
The games themselves were brutal and challenging, desperate and chaotic, and they drove the story on well.

I did read this quite quickly. But I felt like maybe some important bits were edited out, and the missing pieces would have probably given me a better chance of liking the book more. I really did like the bones of this book, even though I have issues with some things.

I can happily say that the author has managed to create a conflict and premise without using rape or sexual assault as a catalyst, and I thank you for that, Willa Hollis.

From the first chapter, The Gemini Games felt like The Hunger Games and Divergent collided under an astrological sky — a fierce, vibrant, and fast-paced story of deception, betrayal, and illuminating the darkness. 🌌

Hollis weaves astrology not just into the worldbuilding, but into the very essence of her characters — their motivations, their flaws, and their fates — giving the story an extra layer of intrigue and meaning that kept me hooked.

What begins as a story of structure and survival quickly unravels into betrayal and deception on a massive scale, all set against the dazzling backdrop of Astralis — the “City of Wonder” — a place of opulence and vibrant possibility that stands in striking contrast to the competitors’ dull, structured home worlds.

The banter between Zellie and Orion is effortless, magnetic, and absolutely delicious from the start. And while there’s another MMC to root for (maybe…), I kept teetering between them both — a why-choose scenario would’ve been utterly delectable 👀, but I have a hard time seeing Leo share… well, anything 😆. The open-door spice is deliciously steamy and deeply satisfying. 🔥
I also appreciated that the characters are slightly older than your usual dystopian leads — it adds depth and relatability to the story.

If I had one critique, it’s that some scenes felt a bit rushed. I wanted more — more description, more immersive detail, more time in this unique and vibrant world. But even so, the concept, creativity, and character work are absolutely stellar.

✨ What to Expect:
♊ Astrological worldbuilding | 🪐 High-stakes competition |💀 Deadly Trials | ❤️‍🔥 Open-door spice | 🗡️ Betrayal | 💋 Snarky, magnetic banter | 🌑 Morally Gray and Possessive MMCs | 🫶 Found Family | 💢 Female Rage | 🏙️ Dystopian Society | 🏛️ Corrupt Politics / Privilege Gap | 🔥 Elemental Magic | 🖤 Touch Her and Die | 🔺 Love Triangle (Dane & Xaden vibes) |💫 Rivals to Lovers | 🌀 Cliffhanger | 💞 Friends to Lovers

Zellie Toro gets a mysterious invitation to participate in 'The Gemini Games' to restore the fading Gemini constellation. Before she knows it, she is transported to a new land full of magical beings called Astralis: the City of Wonder, a place she has never known or heard of. Soon, she discovers there are nine other humans like her who were brought in as contestants for the same game they never volunteered for. What are these Gemini Games? And will she be able to play her part in these events?

Zellie Toro is a true Gemini: stubborn, rebellious, adaptable, and capable of setting the world on fire to make things right. Patiently handling all her dramatics is Orion, a sweet and caring Astral man who has chosen her despite her being the feisty creature she is. As her sponsor, he is patient and believes in her even when she doesn’t believe in herself. Even when she is distant, he waits for her to come around, never stopping his quiet support. Knowing that he rooted for her even before he met her says everything about how deeply he believes in her to set things right. And when he calls her “sunshine” and “princess,” oh my god… I swear I was rooting for him all the way through! Yet, being the gentleman he is, he waits for her to choose him. Then there is Leo: mysterious, hot, and equally infatuated with Zellie. But can she really trust him?

The world-building of this book is amazing, with every challenge and every game keeping the stakes high and death lingering in the corners. The character development is rich, with each character explored in detail, and the correlation to the constellations is fascinating. The minor details, like the Gemini having yellow hair, are the most impressive part of this book.

I didn’t find anything objectionable, but I did want closure to Zizi and Riri’s story, which I didn’t get, and now my head is spinning with all the possible scenarios!

Overall, “The Gemini Games” by Willa Hollis is a heart-touching and soul-searching fantasy romance set against a celestial backdrop. For readers who like high-stakes, "persevere or perish" games, this is a must-read.

“I smile like a manic woman, crazed by the chaos I have undoubtedly created. I will not be marginalized.
‘Oops.’”

This book was one I didn't know I needed! If you are a fan of books like The Hunger Games, Lightlark, any books with trials - "persevere or perish" vibes this book is for you!!

I swear I am throwing out certain vibes to the atmosphere because I truly believe this book was meant for me to read and it makes sense since it has everything to do with Zodiac signs and their meanings.

Zellie is our FMC that gets thrown into an unknown deadly game, somewhere in the atmosphere that she didn't even know existed. After living her mundane and quiet life she is thrust into a life of color, trying to survive and realizing that herself and her people are worth more and made for more than what they have been living. It is up to her to win these trials and live up to her potential while helping to reveal the true nature of those that oppose regular humans.

Throughout the book she is finding and figuring out her feelings towards not only her sponsor but another competitor. Who can she trust? Who does she truly love?

This is a fast paced romantasy that throws you out into the vast area of space! Willa Hollis has done such an amazing job writing this book I was deeply involved with this book from the first chapter! It has a great plot that has many twists you are not expecting! It is made with a badass FMC, a group of characters you can't help but love and the connections between all of them are sooooo well written.

Be prepared to feel all the feels - at one point I did shed a few tears.

I really love the zodiac aspect of this book. From the politics, society and the magical abilities. It brings in so many new levels and adds not only to the plot but the whole story itself. It isn't overly complex; but has just enough going on to where you can definitely read this without stopping.

I love this book and highly recommend!! Can't wait to read book 2 especially after that ending! EEEE!

What to expect:
deadly trials
morally gray
found family
Unique world building
female rage
good vs evil
justice for all
corrupt politics
elemental magic
betrayal
vengeance
touch her and ☠️
spice

"I will not deceive you - danger is at play. The goal is simple: persevere or perish!"

"Our ability to win a game does not determine our worthiness!"

" I have my mind, my heart, my soul. I will not allow myself to be taken advantage of or to be made into a spectacle. I am not to be underestimated."

"To all the girls afraid of the fire raging through their veins. You were born a viper. Stop fearing your venom and start wielding it."
"There is an understanding that the Library is sacred, safe, in an otherwise unfeeling world."

"May the stars guide you. The constellations are the only constant"

"That's the beauty of this life; there are infinite possibilities to reinvent yourself. But no matter who you choose to become, you'll realise you had it in you all along."

"I questioned who I want to be. The answer? Not a woman who bows quietly at the hands of men, at the hands of corrupt power."

"I think about how we all deserve f*ing better than a leadership that lies to us. Is this how rebellions begin? It's time to rise."

"The rules of the Games are simple: persevere or perish."

What a fantastic read! Full of politics and a magic system that’s different reminding me of the hunger games with the games I ate this up!

Our FMC- Zellie, is a human who gets forced into a magical world filled with a corrupt government, with life endangering trials, and opponents willing to risk it all to win. She is sassy, strong and witty, full of rage!
We have two mmc and our first MMC Orion, acts as her mentor and friend helping her get through the trials. And Leo who is another human going through the trials who turns into her lover and friend. We follow the games as the contestants begin the trials, meeting different characters along the way, ending with the crowning of the Celestial Champion. The world building is so unique.
Leaving a cliff hanger and wow that ending! I can’t wait for the next book!

ARC Book Review: The Gemini Games by Willa Hollis. Thank you for choosing me as an ARC reader in exchange for an honest review! This book is set to release on October 21, 2025.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ /5

Genre: Romantasy

One Sentence Summary: When Zellie Toro is chosen to compete in the deadly Gemini Games on the planet Lunara, she must navigate corruption, divine politics, and impossible choices to either claim celestial power or risk everything to save humanity.

Recommendation: Reminded me of Hunger Games/Blood of Hercules’ type games and trials and mentoring with Sailor Scouts celestial powers. This was an ok read that didn’t demand too much emotional heavy lifting. If you’re into romantasy and liked the previously mentioned books, you’d enjoy this one but it’s not life changing.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️

Emotional Damage: ☠️☠️ /5

Originality : 🖊️🖊️ /5

Writing: 🥀🥀🥀/5

Likes: It was entertaining. I kept turning the pages just to see how the games would turn out. The concept of the astrological powers and the structure of the competition were unique and engaging enough to hold my attention all the way through. I did also appreciate the f the oppressive regime theme and feminine rage as well.

Dislikes: For all its fun energy, I found myself wishing for more depth. The world building almost stopped once the initial setup passed, and the magic system, while indeed creative, didn’t really evolve after the opening explanation. I also would have appreciated to know how the other astrological signs powers were but I guess that leaves room for more book. The characters came across as one-dimensional, and their arcs lacked the emotional or moral complexity that could’ve elevated the story. I don’t know what this says about me, but I wanted the love triangle to hurt. Even the betrayals and deaths didn’t hit as hard as they should have. Ultimately, it read more like a YA fantasy with added spice rather than a fully developed adult fantasy.

You want a fantasy book where the world building doesn't take have the book to understand = THE GEMINI GAMES

you want a book that has deadly trials , female rage , elemental magic corrupt politics = THE GEMINI GAMES

ZELLIE our feirce FMC finds herself chosen as one of the ten humans to participate in the GEMINI GAMES in the city of Astrails , Zellie's objective is to collect moonstone to help restore the falling GEMINI consolation and to continue powering nearby woods ,

As she competes she uncovers corruptions , a magical hierarchy and massive imbalance of power, she realises the only way to make any chance for humans across the galaxy is to infiltrate the divine order herself,

This book was absolutely gripping from start to finish , the intensity of it at the start had me consumed I couldn't put it down, loved how feirce Zeille was as a FMC and the little bit of spice i found really set it off 🔥, found @willaholliswrites wrighting style to be really easy to read and follow world building was very clear cut and not complicated which I love and really need in any fantasy to keep my attention willa done a really good job of this , the cliff hanger... holy God I can't wait for the next book ,I find it the most frustrating about having a really good arc read because now you have to wait for the next book 😂 overall this is ⭐️ and everyone needs to run and read it , it is now on Kindle unlimited guys so run
