Some monsters hide in the shadows. Others hide in plain sight.
Billy already has enough on her plate—college, keeping her mother’s garden alive, and now, troll hunting. When a spoiled teen unknowingly attracts a bridge-dwelling monster, Billy steps up as protector. But Ash, the troll, isn’t just a mindless predator—he’s ancient, cunning, and dangerously charming. And he's far more interested in Billy than anyone expected.
As mysterious gifts arrive and long-dormant magic stirs, Billy discovers her mother’s herbal tea has been suppressing her true power for years. With a banshee on the prowl and the fae courts watching, Billy must embrace her royal heritage—or risk losing everything she loves.
From Autumn Dawn, this enchanting paranormal romance blurs the line between worlds, where a modern pixie finds herself caught in an ancient struggle—and in the sights of two powerful suitors.
A feel-good, family-friendly fantasy with no explicit content. For fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and delightfully creepy fairytales.
I'm a stay at home mom with three kids, a dog and an active imagination. I spent the first 34 years of my life in Alaska, land of the midnight sun, but these days I'm located in Washington, and am enjoying a much warmer sun :) I'm married to my high school sweetheart, John, who is known to bring me flowers "just because".
My leisure time is filled with gardening, crochet, knitting, sewing, art and reading.
A light read that jumps around a bit too much. It needed to be a bit longer to feel more planned out. The characters were interesting but felt a bit flat. They also did things out of the blue that didn’t feel truly relatable to the story or characters. Like the mention of church and religion just tossed in at a crucial moment felt false and squeezed in. The romance went from possible flirting to kissing in a blink then all of a sudden they were a thing. Just didn’t have the time to build that romance and it felt rushed. Also why her one best friend would just walk away also didn’t sit well nor the forced love triangle. Overall it was a good story idea with interesting characters but it needed to be longer and more developed.

This was a college paranormal romance mystery with some fairly explicit sex scenes, that worked for me (a bit weird considering what was up with the size difference). I had to accept that even though the Pixie/Fae protagonist had seen the actual form of the troll Ash (kudos for pretty good German), she was fascinated by his erudition, flair and especially his looks in human form.
What came across well depicted was the troll's inner war with his desire for food - and his temptation to eat the girl he loved. The Pooka sidekick/potential rival Eyrnie (until something the heroine had done before the story started came back to destroy their former long-time friendship) showed well, too.
The book remains very focussed on family troubles and dangers of the Fae and took up about 100 pages of the 130 pages ebook. I saw quite a few spelling mistakes that may be due to dyslexia, as the author does otherwise have a fluid way with words (the example I remember the most was Tatiana for Titania from Midsummer Night's Dream).
Iron & Hemlock was the second story. It throws Jordan, the young widow from NYC via a stroke of lighting into the UK during the regency into the house/household of a group of shifters - descendants of the Fae woman who was the original form of the house. The head of the house is Lord Griffin - one of his brothers is a huge owl and the other a nightmare - whom Jordan finds incredibly attractive.
The antagonist is the brother of the Fae woman, now house, who has been persecuting the family for centuries and tried to kill Jordan in NY before she even came over. The whole plot is wrapped up fast and the romance is consumed extrafast, but then there were only 30 pages for all of it. Still a vivid story.

Love the troll. Who would have thought you actually like a smelly gross troll. I fell in love with the main characters. I love fairy tales that have a twist. This was a great story. I need to finish everything Autumn Dawn has wrote.
I'm a huge fan of Autumn Dawn. Sadly, this story fell a little short for me and ended much too abruptly. That being said, I loved the basis of the storyline.
