Olympic Royale : Book 1

Rate this book
By the dawn of the 22nd century, the world had changed. After standing on the brink of nuclear annihilation one too many times, nations came to a grim humanity’s thirst for violence was insatiable. Rather than suppress it, they chose to embrace it, channeling it into something structured, something sanctioned—something entertaining.

The Olympic Games, once a celebration of athletic prowess and unity, were transformed into the ultimate bloodsport. No longer a test of endurance, speed, or skill, but of survival. Every four years, the world's most powerful nations submitted their demands—territorial claims, economic advantages, political bargaining chips—staking them on the outcome of the games.

For those who fought in the games, the stakes were equally high. The winners from the last nations standing, would be rewarded with more wealth than they could ever spend, unparalleled fame, and the most coveted prize of all—freedom.

An excellent action-packed thrill ride.

A mix between The Purge [Movie] / Prison Break [Show] & Hunger Games.

Character driven, fast-paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Explores a lot of morally grey topics and tough situations. Interesting family dynamics, friendships & rivals. Great dialogue, banter & characters with deep reflection.

Specifically a western "themed" fight to the death game - Inmates of the prison form groups and traverse within their western styled arena [ but there are robots & technology to be uncovered. ] They are limited with what they have but buy stations & secret maps/locations are available.

Book 2 in the works & I'm pumped!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’d give this 6 ⭐️ if I could because this was spectacular!

In this dystopian future, in countries all over the world, prisoners fight to the death on televised programs- the Trials. Every 4 years, hundreds go into the arena for only 10 to come out. Those 10 progress to the Olympic Games, where they take on the winners from other countries. The arena changes its theme each time to a different period in history. This year’s American theme is the Wild West!

Gunnar Savage had a promising career before he threw it all away on a one way ticket to prison. On purpose. He and his brothers want to be locked up with their father (wrongly imprisoned for killing their mother) so they can keep him alive during the Trials. It was pretty easy to take out the judge who set their father up and make their way to prison, pretty easy to train and plan and think of how to survive the Trials. But once the trails start they see it’s more than training, more than thinking. It was easy for them all to kill one corrupt man, but how easy will it be killing an entire arena full of people?

The action in this awesome! Jam packed from the first page all the way to the last. Olympic Royale is exciting and never fails to entertain. It has characters that grow on you and some that really don’t. 😄 There’s emotion, rivalries, betrayal, revenge, and blood. A whole lot of blood. You’re gonna laugh and probably cry. The dystopian feel tweaks the plot in the best way. This was imaginative. This was just what I wanted in a book. This was storytelling perfection.

Jason Clark is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This is a unique story with a really cool premise. This has all the action I wanted and none of the drama I didn't want. True to his style, it had plenty of twists and turns along the way. Highly recommend.

It's hard to find a good action book these days but Olympic Royale delivered. Other than maybe one chapter in the prison, the pacing is perfect. I enjoyed watching Gunnar grow as a character. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire read.
