Phyllis’ book is book four of the Thorpe sisters series by Faith Fawcett. A group of novellas written back in the Regency era - think Bridgerton but for teens.
The stories are told in third person, much like someone telling you a story rather than you reading it yourself!
Upon reading the first three books in the series; Felicity, Adelaide and Kitty, they all touch upon subjects that were hard during those times, and if you have read those books much like I have then you know full well how this story will end.
What an emotional rollercoaster this book took me on, reading about a young girl at the age of five, grow through life with older siblings. There was a sense of loneliness in this book but there were some happy moments too.
This is the first book that has ever made me cry and it was that very last chapter that really tugged on my heartstrings, but as painful as it was to read (in an emotional way) I’m so glad I pushed on through it.
