Updated edition of this comprehensive introduction to environmental science, with European and international case studies and examples. The second edition of this popular text has been fully updated and the authors have increased the emphasis on examples and case study material. The text continues to provide a clear and authoritative introduction to the fundamental concepts and vocabulary necessary to explore complex environmental issues and phenomena.
If you have to read an introductory environmental science book, then this is the one to choose. It's interesting, well-written, to-the-point and written at an appropriate level. Each chapter is pretty much self-contained to boot, so if you're reading sections rather than reading the whole thing then everything will still make sense. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone doing an entry-level enviro science course, or to people who are just interested in knowing more about environmental problems in the world. The edition I read was quite old, hence the deduction of a star due to less-relevant examples and old data. Naturally, the scientific stuff still holds.
