Vinduthi Stolen Brides #1

Alien Devil's Prey

Rate this book
Trapped with a Vinduthi in deep space. The only thing more dangerous than him… is what I’m starting to feel.
I’ve survived three years as an indentured navigator by trusting no one—especially not the cold, controlled Vinduthi pilot who just ripped my world apart.

Talon is nothing like the monsters who own this sector. He’s quiet, methodical, haunted by secrets he’ll never share. When his mission collides with mine, we end up trapped together on a dying ship—two enemies, forced into a partnership neither of us wants.

He needs my skills to survive. I need his ship to escape.

We’re hunted, desperate, sharing the same air and too many secrets.

Every argument feels like foreplay. Every brush of his hand threatens to set me on fire. Every time he pins me with those hungry eyes, I wonder what it would feel like to let go—just once.

I should hate him. I do hate him.

So why does every look, every command, every accidental touch leave me aching for more?

There’s only one rule in deep never fall for the enemy.

Too late.

If you crave enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, slow-burn tension, and broken heroes who protect what’s theirs, climb aboard. Welcome to the Vinduthi Stolen Brides!

Talon is a Vinduthi warrior on a mission to recover the key to a vault that will avenge his assassinated Sovereign and give his people a fighting chance to remain out of the iron clutches of the Conclave. Tamsin is a human navigator, indentured servant of the Conclave and sole occupant of a cargo ship that carries the very key Talon seeks. He cuts his way, literally, into Tamsin’s ship only to find that the Conclave lay in wait to capture anyone foolhardy enough to steal the keys back.

Luckily for Talon, Tamsin has a bone to pick with the Conclave in general, and the slavers who are responsible for her indentured servitude. She’s spent her life gathering intel so that she could destroy them from within when the opportunity presented itself. And Talon provides the perfect opportunity for revenge if they can work together to bust in and wreak havoc. So long as their inevitable attraction to one another doesn’t get in the way first.

This was such a page-turner. I loved the world building and how Sci-Fi this series really feels. Yes, there’s romance and fated mates, but there is an epic battle between good and evil - the greatest evil being the juggernaut that is the Conclave. Some of the story was a bit unclear, but I believe this is a spin-off of another series.

Four stars.

Alien Devil’s Prey kicks off the Vinduthi Stolen Brides series with a dark, slow-burn alien romance full of tension, secrets, and survival.

The story follows a human heroine Tamsin, who has spent years as an indentured slave, determined to trust no one. When she finds herself trapped with Talon—a cold, controlled Vinduthi warrior whose motives are anything but clear—they’re forced into an uneasy alliance. What begins as pure necessity slowly builds into attraction, with danger and distrust pushing them closer together.

This book leans heavily into fan-favourite tropes: enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and plenty of simmering heat. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable, and York does a good job creating a gritty, high-stakes atmosphere that keeps the tension sharp.

Packed with enemies-to-lovers tension, forced proximity, and sizzling chemistry, it’s the kind of dark, steamy sci-fi romance you can’t put down. It perfectly encapsulates the themes that run through the Vinduthi saga—danger, survival, and irresistible alien heroes—while setting the stage for even more stories to come. A must-read for fans of the series and newcomers alike.

A sizzling sci-fi romance adventure!

Tamsin has survived years as an indentured navigator in deep space by trusting no one. Her cynical view of the universe is tested when her path collides with Talon. Talon is a cold, controlled Vinduthi haunted by his own secrets.

Circumstances force them to work together to reach each of their goals. But as the connection between them develops, Talon's priorities begin to shift. The enemies-to-lovers tension quickly spirals into something more.

If you crave a romance with enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, high heat, and a dangerous, broken hero who protects what's his, this one is for you.

Just Ok

This novella is not worth buying, in my opinion. If it was on kindle unlimited then sure, it’d be worth a try. The insta-love in this was insanely fast and made no sense. There was only like one spicy scene and I got pretty bored with the story/plot even though it’s so short.

This book had enough action and romance to keep my attention. I loved how Tamsin and Talon met as well as how their missions changed. And of course, Vinduthi.

Again I found a good read in this book. I would not mind more stories in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.
