Emma Brennan owns Aroma Wellness, a spa that includes a gift shop and a café. (That’s my kind of a relaxing day!) After Emma follows her heart and her dram to open her own wellness spa, she finds herself hosting a “Happily Divorced Party”. The name itself cracked me up! Of course, you can imagine that this creates the perfect scenario for a crime scene. Emma finds herself investigating after the murder has taken place. Will she be able to put all of the clues together to figure out who is behind this crime? Will Addison Lacey be charged or will Emma be able to determine who really did commit the murder?

Daryl Wood Gerber has done it again! This is the second installment of the “Aroma Wellness” Mystery series. I hadn’t yet read the first book, so I was hesitant to read the second book of the series without knowing any of the characters or the story line from the first book. The author did a great job of bringing you up to speed on who each character was in the book. In this book the author did a great job of vividly describing what the spa would look like. It made you want to jump right into the book and book your own spa day! I appreciated that this cozy mystery was based in a holistic view of a spa. This was a completely different setting and I really appreciated that in a cozy mystery.

This book literally made me laugh out loud a few times. I was giggling and laughing at some of the different events described in the book by the author. Daryl Wood Gerber did a great job of keeping my attention throughout the book. I loved how she also included a character list at the beginning of the book. I did find myself going back to this list in the beginning to remind myself who some of the characters were. I loved how there were also some great recipes included in the book. It makes it so much fun. I am anxious to go back and read the first book of this series. I can’t wait for the next installment of this series.

Another intriguing mystery unfolds when Emma hosts a divorce party at her wellness center—a fresh concept she’s eager to try. Addison, on the verge of divorce, has her parents footing the bill to help her cope. But once Emma spends time with Addison and her family, she senses some underlying dysfunction. When Addison’s mother turns up murdered, Emma feels compelled to investigate, worried the incident could tarnish her business. Though she tries to keep her distance, her strong sense of justice won’t let her walk away. Will she uncover the clues to crack this case?

Murder in a Lavender Daze by Daryl Wood Gerber was such a delightful surprise. As someone who absolutely loves cozy murder mysteries, this book felt like a warm return to the charm of classic Agatha Christie; curling up with a great story and a cozy snack kind of read.
The whimsical nature of the characters was simply magical. Their interactions and witty banter made the story feel effortless and engaging, pulling me in from the start. I found myself genuinely enjoying not just the mystery, but the personalities and relationships woven throughout.
This was my first time reading Daryl Wood Gerber, but it definitely won’t be my last. The story wrapped up so smoothly and satisfyingly, leaving me with that perfect cozy mystery feeling.
A solid 4 stars, highly recommended for anyone who loves a charming, character-driven whodunit.

This novel pulled me in from the first chapter and refused to let go. The author paints the setting with such vivid detail that I could practically smell the lavender fields rolling across every scene. The central mystery is clever and unpredictable, with each clue delivered at just the right moment. I loved the emotional depth woven into the protagonist’s journey, giving the suspense real heart. The writing is elegant, the atmosphere rich, and the ending is both shocking and perfectly earned. “Murder in a Lavender Daze” is an absolute gem of modern mystery fiction.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

This series is a spinoff of the author’s Fairy Garden Mysteries, a series I have gotten behind on, but that did not hinder my enjoyment of this story one bit. The author starts the book with the cast of characters to help readers get to know the humans, animals, and fairies.

Welcome back to the Courtyard of Peace and Emma Brennan’s Aroma Wellness Spa, gift shop, and café. Emma’s venture has been very successful, and she is now booking private events. Spa parties, birthdays, and bridal showers at her establishment are starting to trend. Her next event is a “Happily Divorced” party. Addison Lacey is ready to celebrate her split from her husband after 8 years of marriage, who has become a man trying to totally control her life. Addison’s mother, a former model in full diva mode, Gianna, has offered to cover the entire event.

When Emma travels to see Gianna and pick up the last payment, she and Addison make an awful discovery. Gianna’s dead body is found in her bed, with the scent of lavender emanating from the area, with a pillow herbally infused she received at the party beside her. Emma detects another smell, but she can’t identify it. With Addison at home at the time of the murder, she tops the list of suspects. Emma can believe Addison killed her mother, but knows several others who should be on that list, including the man Addison is divorcing. Emma is determined to put her sense of smell to the test to catch the true killer. Her Nana, her cousin, and her trusted Birman cat, Vivi, are on board to help.

In this second installment of the Aroma Wellness Mystery Series, we return to Carmel-by-the-Sea and Emma’s wonderful spa. Emma learned everything she knows about wellness, essential oils, and crystals from her Aunt Sophie, who has a spa in Sedona, Arizona. Emma strives to find the same relaxing atmosphere as her staff and clients continue to grow. She is very confident in her knowledge, knowing she can reach out to her aunt whenever necessary or needs a reading of her own. She has a huge heart willing to help anyone in need.

Her cousin Sierra, Sophie’s daughter, is Emma’s partner and in charge of the café, whipping up healthy smoothies, breakfast, and lunch treats for everyone to enjoy. (Check out her recipes in the back of the book.) Their Nana, Lissa Reade, head librarian at the Harrison Library, is their not-so-silent partner who helped fund the spa, gift shop, and café. Emma’s mother, Kate, stops by the spa often to voice her displeasure about something, especially Emma finding dead bodies. Emma’s father drops by for a visit, too, which displeases her mother greatly. They are joined by a great cast of supporting characters, including some delightful fairies.

Gianna’s death was hard on everyone, and there were more than a few suspects. Detective Dylan Summers is on the case. He may be a competent detective, but Emma helped him solve the last murder, and odds are strong she will solve this one, as well. That didn’t keep him from blustering about when she shared information. I had a fantastic time spending time with all the characters during their lunches and spa treatments, but following Emma as she tries to bring all the clues together is the most fun. She keeps circling back around to make each piece fit, even when the last piece falls into place at the most inopportune time.

If you enjoy lighthearted cozy mysteries, with mostly charming characters, set in an idyllic place, Murder in a Lavender Daze is perfect for you. I do encourage you to read Essence of Foul Play first, but it is not necessary to read the Fairy Garden Mysteries before this series. The author does an excellent job making this series easily read on its own. I am very excited for this series to continue.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Kensington and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

“Murder in a Lavender Daze” is the second installment in Daryl Wood Gerber’s “Aromatherapy Mystery” series. It continues the story of Emma Brennan, the owner of Aroma Wellness Spa. Emma is hosting a “happily divorced” party for a client, Addison Lacey - think week-long bridal shower activities, except the bride is getting a divorce. Things take a decidedly nasty turn when Emma arrives at Addison’s mother’s house to collect a deposit payment and finds her dead in bed.

I really enjoy this series. Emma’s spa is located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, where another of the author’s popular series, the Fairy Garden Mysteries, is set. Fans of that series will be delighted to know that many of the same characters in the Fairy Garden series also make appearances in this series. Emma even has her own nurturer fairy, Dewberry, who shows up in the garden. That aspect of the series feels like visiting with old friends.

Another aspect of this series that I truly enjoy is the nature of Emma’s spa. The spa does offer manicures, pedicures, and facials, but it also offers more spiritual activities, such as mindful meditation and sound baths that involve singing bowls. Author Daryl Wood Gerber describes these activities just enough to make readers curious to learn more - in fact, this reader is eager to try one of those activities. The descriptions never overtake the mystery and instead add context to the story. There is also a wonderful scene involving a book club among the residents in which a cozy mystery written by Krista Davis, a fellow author, is recommended. I approve of this kind of cross-recommendation!

Another aspect of the story I really appreciated was the friendship and support that Addison’s friends showed her. She invited the three women who were her bridesmaids to celebrate her divorce with her, and they all were present and supportive of Addison’s multi-day party and her processing of the divorce and the death of her mother.

The mystery is intriguing and I did not guess the identity of the killer. The final clue that led to the discovery of the killer was cleaver and unusual. The ending of the story leaves the door open for more adventures in Carmel-by-the-Sea with Emma and friends.

MURDER IN A LAVENDER DAZE by Daryl Wood Gerber
The Second Aroma Wellness Mystery

Emma Brennan's Aroma Wellness Spa is doing well, even with Mah's struggles with the telephone at reception. Always looking to branch out Emma is hosting a Happily Divorced party for spa regular Addison Lacey. Becoming friends with the woman Emma is invited to dinner with Addison and her family only to witness contentious bickering with Gianna, Addison's mother, lambasting her daughter. When Emma goes to their house the following morning to pick up payment for the party, she and Addison find Gianna dead. With Addison under suspicion Emma decides to try to solve the murder.

While the Happily Divorced party is for Addison and her soon to be ex-husband Wyatt, the second Aroma Wellness Mystery has more than its share of unhappy marriages-Addison's parents, her aunt and uncle, and even Emma's already divorced parents. There's even a fiancée with cold feet. No wonder Emma isn't in a rush to get involved in a romantic relationship, although we do see a possible contender. There may be romance for her cousin Sierra too.

I love the whole vibe of the Aroma Wellness Spa, with the café and gift shop. While I may not desire a facial or mani pedi, I would love a sound bath or other meditative session. I can also see myself splurging in the gift shop and enjoying some snacks created by Sienna. The peaceful ambiance makes a striking contrast to the murders Emma encounters as well as the dangers she faces while shaky alibis and various motives contributed to this interesting puzzle.

A delicious mystery wrapped in unhappy relationships and soothing vibrations makes MURDER IN A LAVENDER DAZE a delightful read. I was happy to return to the Aroma Wellness Spa and look forward to my next visit!

A strong cast of quirky characters, whimsical garden fairies, and a pampered cat lead readers through a well-constructed cozy murder mystery set in the picturesque coastal town of Carmel-by-the-Sea . . .

I enjoyed reading this entertaining clean, cozy mystery written by an award-winning author. As someone who has been fortunate to visit Carmel, California, dozens of times in the past, I feel the author successfully captured the unique ambience of this lovely small town on the Central California Coast.

This book features an assortment of characters, and the list of the Cast of Characters provided to readers in the Front Matter was very helpful to me as I navigated this 'new-to-me' series. A street map of the town is also provided for readers' reference.

The story includes a lot of tension between various people in the community, family members, and friends. Some of the characters were rude and obnoxious while others were kind and friendly. This blend of personalities made it challenging to pin down who actually committed the crime—the hallmark of a well-written mystery!

Learning about fairies, crystals, and other treatments at the spa were key to the plot and added an interesting twist to the events in the story. There are half a dozen recipes in the Back Matter of the book including regular and Gluten-free versions of some of the foods included in the story.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Great Escapes Virtual Book Tours. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.

Daryl Wood Gerber delivers another hit in the Aroma Wellness Mystery series, further developing the journey of Emma Brennan. After following her heart to open her own wellness spa, Emma finds herself hosting a "Happily Divorced Party" that quickly spirals into a crime scene.
While many cozy mysteries center on libraries or coffee shops, this series offers a refreshing break by immersing readers in the world of self-care and holistic health. The setting is so vivid that it may leave you wanting to book a spa appointment yourself. Gerber perfectly balances the fast-moving plot with the serene, inviting atmosphere of Carmel-by-the-Sea.
The victim is a polarizing figure, surprisingly missed by some characters while definitely not missed by others.
The mystery is fueled by family tension and a web of lies, making it difficult to distinguish the true "bad guy" from those who are simply afraid to be vulnerable.
Gerber continues to add impressive depth and backstories to Emma and her surrounding cast. Fans will enjoy delightful cameos from the Fairy Garden Mystery series, particularly a fairy visiting Emma’s own garden.
This is an incredibly enjoyable read, especially for those on travel. I enjoyed it from cover to cover and can’t wait to try out the included recipes. If you are looking for a well-written mystery that trades caffeine for aromatherapy and a sense of well-being, this is the book for you.

I was thrilled to be selected to read and review this book, the second in a new and wonderful series. This book continues the story of Emma, who is continuing to focus on her fairly new spa business. In this one, she's hosting an extended Divorce Party for Addison. Of course, someone is killed and Emma needs to investigate.

The mystery was great, with plenty of suspects and red herrings for Emma to try to sort out. I enjoyed the way she investigated, talking to as many people as possible, and going to places related to the case to see what she could learn. Some cozy sleuths just go about their normal days and clues just fall in their laps, but Emma makes a real effort to figure things out. By the end, all the clues made sense, and the culprit and motive were logical.

Emma is a great character, and I enjoy her relationships with her friends and family. I also love the setting of Carmel-by-the-Sea, which is the setting of the author's Fairy Garden series as well. It's fun to see guest appearances by people (and fairies!) I already know from that series. You DON'T need to have read the Fairy Garden books to enjoy this series; everyone is given enough of an introduction that you can easily see where they fit it with the story.

Thank you to the author and the Cozy Mystery Review Crew on Facebook for providing me with a paper copy to read. I love this author and this series, and this second book was just perfect!

Murder in a Lavender Daze by Daryl Wood Gerber is such a delightfully cozy read! Emma Brennan is hosting her first “Happily Divorced” party for her client Addison Lacey whose wealthy mother, Gianna, is footing the bill. When Emma goes to pick up the final payment, she and Addison find Gianna dead in her bed. When rumors start swirling that the spa may be cursed, due to the fact that this is the second murder related to the spa, Emma must find the killer to save her business and clear Addison as a suspect.
This is another intriguing mystery with many suspects surrounding this wealthy but somewhat dysfunctional family. I really enjoyed the witty banter and relationships between the characters. Emma has a natural curiosity and good instincts, despite her reluctance to involve herself in another murder mystery. I also really like enjoyed the descriptions of the different activities the spa offers, most of which I know little about. Finally, I loved the inclusion of the story related recipes at the end of the book, a couple of them are gluten free! If you enjoy a lighthearted cozy mystery with engaging characters, a well paced mystery and a beautifully descriptive setting, this is the perfect cozy mystery for you.

Murder in a Lavender Daze by Daryl Wood Gerber is the second book in the Aroma Wellness Mystery series. I have loved all of this author’s books, and this one is a new favorite!

Emma, the owner of Aroma Wellness in Carmel-by-the-Sea, is holding a “Happily Divorced” party for her friend and client Addison. When Emma goes to pick up the check from Addison’s mother Gianna (who is footing the bill for the party), they find her dead. Addison, who is living with her parents until the divorce is final, quickly becomes a suspect. But suspects abound who may have wanted Gianna dead, including the NOT Mr. Nice Guy soon-to-be-ex-husband.

Ms. Gerber always crafts the most intricate plots, guaranteed to keep you riveted to the story until you have finished the book. Even if you end up reading it far into the night. (Raises hand.)
The mysteries are complex, plenty of red-herrings abound to keep the story interesting.

The characters leap off the page; they are so true to life. I want to be friends with Emma, her Nana, and her cousin and fellow shopkeepers in the courtyard. And having been to Carmel-by-the-Sea I know exactly what the setting looks like, and it’s a gorgeous place.

I received an advance copy of the book, and I am happy to leave my honest opinion.

MURDER IN A LAVENDER DAZE is the second book in the Aroma Wellness Mysteries. Author Daryl Wood Gerber expertly sets the stage with a setting offering a tempting retreat for relaxation and meditation, with protagonist Emma Brennan as the perfect guide. While Emma’s soothing Aroma Wellness Spa might lull the reader into a peaceful state of being, not everyone is harmonious, as the story starts off with a bang. Between hosting a divorce party, her divorced parents’ discordant interactions, employee issues, and discovering a murder victim, Emma is anything but relaxed. Ms. Gerber’s strong descriptive language brings the spa and the characters to life, quickly reeling the reader in while keeping the focus on the mystery throughout the story. The scenes are well-plotted, and the pace of Emma’s investigation kept me invested in finding out what happens next. I loved this latest visit to Carmel-by-the-Sea and catching up with favorite characters, and meeting new ones, all the while being challenged by a puzzling whodunit!

I was provided with an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the second book in this delightful series; I read and loved the first book, but this book could stand alone fine. This series is an offshoot from the author’s popular fairy garden cozy mystery series, and some of those characters make cameos, but you definitely don’t need to have read the fairy garden series to enjoy this series (although I definitely recommend the fairy garden series!) I absolutely love the setting of Carmel-by-the-sea and the setting of the aromatherapy wellness spa/gift shop/cafe, and Emma is a great main character. In this book, she is going to host a “happily divorced” party for Addison, and Addison’s mom, Gianna, is footing the bill. When Emma and Addison drop by Gianna’s house, they discover her murdered, and Gianna becomes a suspect. There are plenty of other suspects, since Gianna was difficult, so since Emma has helped solve a previous crime, she sets about investigating. The writing is wonderful and the plot fun to help solve. I can definitely recommend this book and series; I was provided an ARC, which I very much appreciate, but these opinions are my own.

Emma Brennan's Aroma Wellness Spa, gift shop, and cafe are experiencing success. One event currently on the calendar is Addison Lacey's "Happily Divorced" party. Her wealthy mother, Gianna, is paying for it. When Emma goes to her home to pick up the final payment she and Addison discover Gianna's dead body. Addison becomes a prime suspect, but Emma is convinced she is innocent and sets out to clear her.

I enjoyed spending time with Emma and all the secondary characters. It was also fun to revisit with characters from the Fairy Garden Mystery series since this is a spinoff of that series. The characters are fun to read about and the type of people I would enjoy hanging out with in the real world. The story was well written and kept me guessing as to who the killer was. It was hard to put down the book since I wanted to find out what happened next. I enjoyed the first book of the series and found the series got even better with this addition. The author also included some delicious recipes made in the cafe at the end of the story.

Murder in a Lavender Daze by Daryl Wood Gerber takes us back to Emma Brennan’s Aroma Wellness Spa (plus gift shop and café) in charming Carmel-by-the Sea, California. I always enjoy returning to Carmel-by-the-Sea. It is a lovely setting with kind residents, great shops, and delightful fairies. I enjoyed catching up with Emma and the other characters including a couple from A Fairy Garden Mysteries. The author's vivid descriptions made the setting easy to picture. I thought having a divorce party was a wonderful idea (put the past behind you and start your next chapter with positivity). Of course, in this town, a divorce party is bound to go awry. The mystery was enjoyable, with well-placed clues. The ending left me smiling. There are recipes at the end including one for double chocolate chip cookies. Murder in a Lavender Daze is a merry mystery with a gift shop skirmish, an uplifting facial, a murdered mother, calming lavender, a planted pillow, a cute cat, and helpful fairies.

This is the second book in the Aroma Wellness cozy mystery series and just like the first it was a page turner!

I love the vibes that the setting gives off. It is a small town with a tight knit community. The setting of the shops actually reminds me of my town square. I really like that I’m able to relate in this aspect.

As for the mystery, I thought that the storyline had a nice flow and there were so many questions but none were left unanswered. There were multiple suspects and at one time or another I believed they could be the ones that committed the murder, but I was wrong. I love a mystery that you don’t find out the culprit until the very end because it makes me just keep turning the pages.

I adored the use of the fairies. I think it definitely added to the vibes of the book. They weren’t used heavily for the storyline which is good for someone who doesn’t like the fantasy aspect. I loved them. I look forward to more of them in future books.

Thank you so much to the author and Cozy Mystery Review Crew for a copy of this book!

Murder in a Lavender Daze is the second book in the Aroma Wellness Mystery series and is a spin-off of the Fairy Garden series. I’ll admit that I’m not up-to-date on the Fairy Garden series but the books I have read have all been enjoyable.

This book takes us to the Courtyard of Peace and the Aroma Wellness Spa, Giftshop, and Cafe. Emma has a private event coming up, a Happily Divorced party, and unfortunately the mom of the person throwing the party is found dead. There are some interesting talents that Emma uses to solve her murder cases.

Overall, this was a fun book located in a charming community, that I enjoy revisiting from time to time. This book also made me laugh out loud several times at the things that these characters get up to. I thought this was a really good mystery, full of twists and turns. I also enjoyed looking at the recipes included at the back of the book. I may even try one someday! I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in this series!

I got completely wrapped up in this story from the very beginning. I hadn’t read the first book in this series so I hadn’t met any of the characters before but the author did enough of an overview in the first couple of chapters that I didn’t feel lost.
Carmel-by-the-Sea is a quaint little seaside town along the California coast. Emma Brennan has opened up a spa called Aroma Wellness and she’s making a real go of it with the attached café and gift shop as well.. She’s branching out and booking real events like parties and ahowers instead of just sticking with facials and massages. This is giving her business a real boost.
Booking a friend’s Divorce Celebration brings complications Emma was not anticipating. She finds the divorcee of honor’s mother in law deceased and the sleuthing begins. Emma gets involved in the investigation to the chagrin of the police department but indeed does help solve the murder investigation.
The characters in the story are well developed and the descriptions of the spa complex and the surrounding area makes it easy to picture the surroundings. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and now I’ll go back and get the first one to enjoy as well.

Murder in a Lavender Daze by Daryl Wood Gerber. The story is centered around all the shenanigans happening in and around the Aroma Wellness Spa, gift shop, and café, which is owned by Emma Brennan. Aroma Wellness Spa had all sorts of spa services, such as facials & massages. A very spiritual place with the talk of fairies stopping by, the use of crystals to enrich their lives, and the use of sage to cleanse the space. Seems like a tranquil, relaxing place to book a massage at. Emma also held private parties at the spa; she had a booking to host a spoiled rich lady’s newly divorced party for a local lady named Addison. The party was being paid for by her wealthy parents. When Emma & the daughter Addison went to Emma’s mother’s home to collect the rest of the payment. They found Addison’s mother, Gianna, dead in her bed with the scent of lavender in the air. Gianna, like the daughter, had a reputation of being a snot, so it made it hard for them to narrow it down to who might want to hurt her. In this book, how the main character and her friends would try to figure out who did it had me chuckling at times. This wellness retreat was the hot spot for more than just relaxation. Make sure you read it to find out who killed Addison’s mother & why. Received this as an ARC reader and am leaving my unbiased review.

I really enjoyed everything about this book, especially the theming. The Aroma Wellness Spa is a great place to have around when you need some calming breaths when things happen, like murder. There are also many amazing quotes written throughout the story that may help you on your wellness journey. It also didn't hurt that it takes place in Carmel by the Sea near the place where the Fairy Garden Mysteries are found.

This is also good for those of us who like that the main character/sleuth doesn't have a romantic relationship with the detective. Don't get me wrong this is a tight knit community and there are some very good connections but just not how it usually is in other cozies. There's also a large range of characters that play specific roles and add humor and help to the dialog.

This is just a fun, easy to read story that will make you feel good.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington for the ARC for my honest review.

What fun to discover a “new to me” mystery writer who adds a twist of merriment and the paranormal to her tales.

This one is set in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California in the Aroma Wellness Spa.
Emma Brennan owns the spa, cafe, and gift shop that are nestled in the Courtyard of Peace.

But all is not peaceful in Carmel when snarky, nasty comments abound during a joyous “soon to be divorced” party for Addison. Her mother, Gianna, can’t say a nice word about anyone including her husband and soon to be ex son-in-law, and even her daughter.
When Gianna turns up dead, murdered, Emma puts on her sleuthing hat and riles up bad auras even in her place of tranquility.

You’ll love the creative characters, the guest appearances by fairies (yes fairies), an all-knowing grandmother, and supportive friends.

I’m now hooked on this author and Gerber’s various series.

Emma Brennan owns the Aroma Wellness spa in Carmel, California. She's planning a "Happily Divorced" party for a customer when that woman's mother is mysteriously murdered. Emma works as an amateur detective to solve the mystery - even though this puts her in personal danger.

I wanted to read Murder in a Lavender Daze because I love cozy mysteries. The Carmel setting and spa details sounded interesting.

I have read a number of Daryl Wood Gerber's mysteries, but somehow missed the first book in this series. That said, I had no problem at all enjoying this mystery as a standalone read. I was happy to see some familiar characters from the Fairy Garden series make brief appearances!

Emma is an interesting protagonist. She's very dedicated to her work at the spa, providing wellness, mindful meditation, and calming techniques to her customers. At the same time she has a talent for solving mysteries! I like her detecting style, which includes constructing a murder board.

I enjoyed the other characters as well, including Emma's co-workers, her cousin Sierra, and her parents. (And, of course, Emma's lovable cat Vivi!)

The mystery kept me guessing and Emma solved it before I could. I liked the pacing of the book, with relatively short chapters and a good deal of dialogue. The Halloween setting was a fun touch.

I recommend Murder in a Lavender Daze for other cozy mystery readers. It's a fresh, clever mystery with a unique spa setting.

Book two in the An Aroma Wellness Mystery series just hit all the right buttons for me. A well done mystery story with lots of possible murderers, a sprinkling of fairies, and some cross over appearances from the people (and fairies) from Ms. Gerber's Fairy Garden Series, that's also based in Carmel-By-The-Sea.!

I loved the idea of a divorce celebration. at the spa, although after the murder, I thought it was a bit over the top. I just couldn't relate to someone celebrating her divorce right after her mom was murdered. I guess grief manifests itself in many way.

The mystery was tight and the clues were there, but not glaring. The ending, with the unmasking of the perpetrator, was a bit of a surprise for me. I mean that person was on my list...but not at the top!

I can't wait for the next book in this series. They're just so good!

Aroma Wellness is doing well and has started offering private events whether it be a birthday party or a bridal shower. Emma even has a divorce party coming up for Addison Lacey who after eight years of marriage says her husband ended up not being such a nice guy. Addison's rich former model mother Gianna is footing the bill for the party. When Emma goes with Addison to pick up her final payment the two find Gianna dead in her bed. It doesn't take long for the police to zero in on Addison as their main suspect but Emma thinks she is innocent. Emma looks to her family to help her dig into this mystery in hopes of clearing Addison's name. Will the group be able to find the killer before Addison ends up behind bars? This is a wonderful series with great characters and the plot is always fulfilling. I look forward to each new read and seeing where the author will take.the main character to next!

The second in the Aroma Wellness series, the author keeps her readers in the adorable (but apparently deadly) town of Carmel-by-the-Sea. I love that in this series I meet and get to know new characters, all while still feeling comfortable in a town I know well from the Fairy Garden series. Emma is a little higher strung than her FG counterpart, so good thing she runs a spa! And there were a few things over the course of the story that I questioned, but also found myself closing my eyes to mediate when Emma told her clients during a sound bath! These stories will satisfy your need for mystery all while lowering your heart rate! (and bonus: there are some recipes in the back for some of the mouth watering treats sold in the spa's cafe!) Bring on book three!

Thanks to the author and Cozy Mystery Review Crew for a copy of the book. This review is my own opinion.

Emma Brennan, who runs the Aroma Wellness Spa and café in Carmel-by-the-Sea, finds herself caught up in a murder investigation when a divorce party takes a tragic turn. What should have been a fresh start for Addison quickly spirals into chaos when her mother is found dead, and Emma feels compelled to help clear her new friend’s name.

I really enjoyed how the plot was handled balancing the calming spa and wellness theme with the tension of the mystery was great. The lavender set up for a serene setting soothing at times, even while the suspense kept building. It gave the book a unique atmosphere.

The mystery was clever, I had my suspicions, but the final reveal surprised me. I also liked the little crossover moments with the Fairy Garden Mysteries

And as always with Daryl Wood Gerber’s books, the recipes at the end were a delightful bonus.

Murder in a Lavender Daze is a charming and twisty cozy mystery that makes the most of its enchanting Carmel setting! It is a delightful second act for this series and, as usual, Daryl Wood Gerber doesn't disappoint.
Fans of the Fairy Garden mysteries will feel right at home here. There are some crossover characters (both fairy and human) which adds a whimsical layer to the story. When a needling and critical mother is murdered the targeted daughter is the first suspect. The author expertly plants clues and devises several twists that will keep even the most well-read mystery lover guessing until the very end. Although the spa setting is not my favorite I was still kept engaged up until the satisfying ending.
As a bonus, the recipes at the end of the book are genuinely enticing. I definitely would love to read more books in this series.

Second book in this spinoff from the Fairy Garden series. We see a little more of the fairies than in the first book. Although not necessary- this series could stand on its own- we might get to learn more about the fairy realm that wasn't covered in the original series. I don't know anything about spa treatments or crystal readings but the author describes everything nicely and it fits in easily.
Some new characters are introduced. Not sure whether they'll become reoccurring or not, but you get to know them quickly and hope everything works out for all of them. The mystery has a lot of potential suspects with a unique clue that Emma is particularly suited to unravel.
Recipes are included that I want to try, especially the double chocolate chip cookies and the pumpkin muffins.

Love this series!!!! Murder in Lavender Daze is another wonderful installment in the An Aroma Wellness Mysteries. the plot was witty and fast paced, it had me hooked from page one. I also love how quirky the charaters are. They are fun and well written. I especially love the relationship between Emma and her grandmother. It was also nice to meet the father and see how his return played out. I also love how you see past characters from the Fairy Garden Mysteries ( another great series I highly recomend)
I love learning about all the crystal, makes me want to start collecting. also the spa setting and learning about different meditations and treatments is fascinating. I love when you read a mystery and not only habe a good story you learn new things! i highly recommend this series!
