The phrase "a light upon my path" is from Psalm 119, a wisdom psalm that meditates on the goodness of the law and acknowledges a hope that abides even in the face of disappointment. Specifically, it is verse 105 of this psalm, from the longest psalm in the Bible:
"Your word is a lantern to my feet *
and a light upon my path."
Compiled by various authors for Forward Movement (Phil Beyer, Jazzy Bostock, Laurie Brock, Lester V. Mackenzie, John Ohmer, Joseph Yoo), this book of daily meditations for the seasons of Advent and Christmas begins on the first Sunday of Advent and ends on Epiphany, January 6.
