I was probably the only one on the planet who would know that she wasn't a human. I was the only one who'd been off-world. She was a Castoff Unit. I knew that much. What I didn't know was why her boss, the Innkeeper, was in my room, screaming at me and waking me up this early in the morning. I was the royal Envoy of Meringea... you don't do that! Another thing I didn't know yet was why the Castoff was in my bed. She was the maid who'd cleaned my room for the past few days. It took me a few days to figure out what she was, and now she was yelling at her boss that I intended to buy her contract and take her away with me. That wasn't part of my plan, and if she'd been from this world, that would definitely not be part of my current mission. But now it was... and that's how this started.
I almost always enjoy Marilyn's books. She has an interesting style of writing that is very pleasing. Her story lines are intriguing and thought provoking. Sometimes I think her male characters are somewhat simple and have an incredible amount of angst, but it somehow works in the end. My only complaint is that she will not continue some of her stories. Tom's story is a particular one that continues to come to mind. But again, another fine book.
This is another wonderful publication from Miss Foxworthy. I really love her stories and hope for other follow episodes. It is a cool science fiction story. I love the way that the characters are introduced and all the interplay that happens between them. There is a very interesting twist at the end. I truly hope there will be a follow up publication!!
Great new story from Marilyn and I do hope that this continues into another novel as that is definitely something I will read. Great characters and a story line that was full of surprises. A recomended read.
