Carter.
I always thought I knew who I was.
Reliable, dependable, Carter.
But that was the Carter people thought I was...
Me on the other hand, I knew differently. I was the dark depressed Carter, the Carter who hated who he was, who he thought he was.
The past has a way of creeping in and stealing your sound, leaving you with nothing but demons.
I have to find a way to navigate my way through this, time and time again.
No two episodes are the same. When is the light at the end of the tunnel, and who will be there waiting for me?

Brodie.
I took an oath. To never mix business with pleasure, never cross the invisible lines.
It was my job to help people come through their darkness, their depressions, their addictions.
But life always finds a way of throwing you a curve ball when I suddenly develop an addiction of my own.
Only my addiction comes in the form of a client.
I am always there to help others, but when the time comes for me to need someone, to rely on someone else....
The only person I want is the one person I can't have.

Honestly, WOW.

This was by far one of my favourite reads of 2025. The flow of the writing and the way the story unfolds is amazing.

As this is the second book in the ‘Rewrite The Stars’ series, I’d known most of the characters. I’d knows who Carter was and some of the issues he had. However, I was not expecting this to reduce me to tears. Both happy tears and heartbroken tears.

The emotional background is such a delicate touch and it made the book all the more satisfying to read. You really do feel like you’re going through it all with the characters. I sobbed many times through the book, and I love a good emotional story.

On a more 18+ level.. them spicy scenes are… indescribable (not literally, but you know what I mean). Brodie and Carter really do have a very impressive active presence together and boy does it make you feel, like really feel.

I couldn’t have read a better book after reading book one and I’m incredibly impressed. I cannot wait for book 3❤️‍🔥

Grab your tissues folks, because you're in for one hell of a ride!!

Unbreak Me is one of the more emotional rollercoaster reads. M. Elizabeth does an amazing job reaching all those emotional ranges where you can literally laugh and cry in the same chapter.

Carter and Brodie's story is everything!! They are my favourite men and I love them as both individuals and together as a couple. Each MMC has their own trials and growth throughout the book.

Spice, can we talk about the SPICE!!! Ooooo.....you definitely might need a cold shower after reading this book. My Girl knows how to write those spicy scenes....that's all I'm gonna say 😏

Book 2 in the Rewriting the Stars series....crushed it!! I'm gonna be thinking about these two for a lonnnggg time 😍

Well let me just start by saying that you definitely need to go into this read with some tissues close by! It is deep, it is powerful and it is emotional in all the best ways!

This is the second book in the “Rewriting the Stars” series! This book follows Carter and his battle with depression and his sexual identity. We meet Brodie, Carters therapist, and the pining and want is palpable. The relationship turns from professional into romantic in the slowest delicious burn!

Spice was well written and dirty! Who knew Carter was such a filthy man! Maybe he was just saving it for the right person! You could feel the chemistry on the page when reading between them and it made for an epic bang 💥

One of my favourite things in this book was Carters character development and how Brodie brought out his inner strength he didn’t think he had! The portrayal of depression and its darkness was expertly described with the thoughts and feelings when in the downward spiral!

Would definitely recommend reading if you want an emotional read! Remember to check your trigger warnings as there some dark stuff in here!

Overall ratings:

🌟 4.5/5

4.5 ⭐️

This book was absolutely, beautifully heartbreaking. The emotions in this book was overwhelming and absolutely well written.
I thought the elements of mental health was perfectly executed and wrote so great.

I don’t read many M/M romances but Unbreak me was an interconnected series and Carter’s character was in the first book (angel numbers) and his character was interesting and I just know he had a great and epic story to come. And yes it was epic!

This story makes you want to jump into the story and just hold Carter and never let go! My heart broke for him and everything he felt and experienced in his life.
And Brodie….he was what carter needed and he was selfless and loved carter enough just the way he was.

The story was so well written, it had a storyline that was so special and so beautiful. I loved how carter had all the support he needed around him.
And I loved the forbidden love element and how the relationship between carter and Brodie developed into something so amazing.

This book shows mental health with a person who was at their lowest but it also shows a road to healing and peace. Absolutely loved it, such a emotional and inspiring read.

This was my first book by this author (her second overall), so I went in not really knowing what to expect from her writing style. I’m happy to say it was a great surprise. The book was well written, the story was strong, and she did an amazing job with the mental health representation.

I was immediately drawn to Carter and his struggles. I just wanted to reach through the pages and hug him. His pain felt so real, and watching him find the strength to open up after years of hiding was both heartbreaking and beautiful.

The story is emotionally charged and dives deep into healing, vulnerability, and unexpected love. Carter is battling long-term mental health struggles and finds solace in his therapist, Brodie who’s grieving his own loss. When a self-harm incident forces Carter to open up to his friends, their unwavering support becomes the foundation for his recovery.

This story hit me right in the heart. It’s raw, emotional, and honest about mental health and healing. I especially loved how supportive Carter’s friend group was. They took this story from good to great! And the slow build between Carter and Brodie was so tender and sweet.

Unbreak Me isn’t just a romance, it’s about finding peace, love, and hope when you think you’ve lost it all. Beautiful story.

4.5 stars rounded up

Unbreak Me is the second book in the Rewriting the Stars series.

I haven't read the first book, but this one can be read perfectly well as a standalone novel, because it recounts part of what happens in the first one.

It broke my heart into a thousand pieces.
Carter's depression and anxiety are very well portrayed and thoroughly researched. Although Brodie also has his problems, which he deals with throughout the book.

The story is very well written. You feel Carter's hopelessness, but also his desire to get better. I like that love isn't the magic wand that cures everything, but rather pushes you to want to improve.

Brodie is very patient and kind to Carter, and he's not alone. Carter's support system is there for him when he needs it, once he tells them.

The bi awakening is well done. Carter progresses at his own pace when it comes to discovering his sexuality and living it to the fullest.

Check the TW first.

+i want to thank the author for the ARC. This is my voluntary and honest opinion+

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved Rewrite the Stars: Book Two! This story completely drew me in, and I felt every emotion right alongside Carter and Brodie. Carter’s struggles with his inner demons and Brodie’s unwavering dedication created such a raw and compelling dynamic that had me both sobbing and smiling throughout. The emotional depth in this book is handled beautifully — you truly feel like you’re living each heartbreak, each triumph, and every vulnerable moment with the characters.

On top of that, the romance between Carter and Brodie is sizzling and intense, full of chemistry that leaps off the page. The balance between emotional exploration and the steamy moments is perfect, making the story both heartfelt and thrilling. Marie’s writing is incredible — engaging, moving, and immersive — and I loved being back with familiar characters while getting to experience this new, powerful love story. A truly emotional, gripping, and satisfying read!

This was such a touching and emotional journey, exploring sexuality, mental health, forbidden romance, and self discovery. I loved the supportive atmosphere and the way Carter's friends look out for him, and Brodie's protective twin brother.
It's honest and raw and doesn't shy away from exploring dark thoughts, doubts, spiralling, and coping with anxiety and depression.
Carter and Brodie's romance is so wholesome, and they just connect so well and give each other the parts that were missing.
There is plenty of tension, drama, conflict and spice, but centred around a beautiful love story, character growth and acceptance.

This book highlights the realities of depression and not feeling good enough, but it also shows that sometimes you just need to find your support system to help pull you out again when you’re spiralling. I really loved Brodie, he was patient and kind ... and was super hot for Carter!
