Beneath the Red Lights: A Dark Stalker Romance

Rate this book
Lilith is lost. After escaping the clutches of her first love, she no longer is the fierce woman she once was. The only comforts she finds are in painting out her deadly nightmares or drinking until everything blurs—yet it’s getting harder every day to not fall further into her grim thoughts.

Elias is hiding. As heir of a crime organization, he knows the rules: Loyalty lies in blood and being part of society's underbelly comes with a steep price. A price he’s no longer willing to pay. He might be a respected businessman now, but repressing the inner demons is way harder. Especially once he meets Lilith again.

Becoming the sole obsession of a former crime family’s prince isn’t in Lilith’s plan—but it might be exactly what she needs. Especially when she’s once more challenged as a woman scorned. Together, the two must find a way to break free from the paths others try to force them down, even if it calls for bloodshed.

This was my first dark romance. I want to say like I read romance and spicy, but not so much dark I’ve tried to read other ones and I just couldn’t handle it, but this was like an intro to dark to where I felt comfortable and it wasn’t too much and I actually really enjoyed the book & the storyline of it. Check your trigger warnings but it wasn’t anything too much to handle I feel. It gave off stalker vibes with a love story. I would absolutely recommend! Thank you so much for allowing me to be an arc reader for this book! I really enjoyed this book!

What I love most about this book is its masterful blend of genres. The author keeps you on the edge of your seat, piecing together the mystery while delivering a dark romance that explores the darkness within us with just the right amount of smut. For a new author, this is a top-notch debut and a definite must-read.

Interesting story with the right amount of spice. Certain characters seem more developed than others which is fair. There are a few spots I was confused with timing and pacing of the story. Overall a great first book from this author!

I absolutely loved this book! It has stalker vibes with a hint of dark romance. Level of spice was a 3 for me but always check your trigger warnings. She did a great job getting duo POVs as well as adding in past trauma to complete the story. So pumped I got to be an Arc reader for this book so I can recommend it to all of my friends!!

First, I want to thank Kiy Daniels for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts!

So let's get into it.
This was my first real dark romance read. I have read a couple others in this category, but they were not very dark. This one was definitely dark and it had me hooked from page 1. This book had the reader dive in head first to the jarring reality of the FMC's life, so definitely check the trigger warnings before proceeding in the book. The book begins with the FMC being haunted from her past, and throughout the book, we get some momentary flashbacks into her previous life and what has led her to be in this position. It was raw and real which made me able to fully immerse myself in the book. I do not want to spoil anything so I am going to leave details out for the remainder of this review, but the way the beginning pulled me in was wonderfully done and I'd be silly if I didn't mention it.

The vibes were vibing. The tension was tensioning. The plot was PLOT-TINGGG!
The tension between the FMC and MMC? Electric. The pacing? *chef's kiss* The relationships? Literally kept kicking my feet. I know I am new to this genre, but this felt like the perfect blend of dark and romance. It wasn't just dark because it's a stalker romance, there were other dark themes and they were written about in a way where you go on the emotional unpacking journey with the FMC or MMC. It's a dual POV book so we consistently get both perspectives in a way that goes way deeper than sexual tension. Every detail in this book was necessary, there was no filler or repetitive content. If you meet a new character, it's for a reason. If you are getting a blast for the past, it will matter. Kiy Daniels left no stone unturned, allowing space for the plot to flourish without any gaps.

The stalker trope was a bit intense for me at first as a lil newbie in this genre, but it ended up being such an addictive reading experience. I couldn't put it down. Every time I did stop reading, I kept needing more answers. And the other dark themes explored in this book added a layer of depth that I didn't think would exist in a dark romance novel. It wasn't dark to be shocking, it was dark to unpack lived realities. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it was beautifully done.

So if you're into morally black anti-heroes, tension that can be cut with a knife, and a romance that will make you blush and scream at the same time -- read this book!

I had the honour of reading this as an arc copy, and have to say I enjoyed it.

Though I think I didn't read it at the right moment (mood reader's pain), so maybe that's why I didn't rate it that high (3.5 stars), but overall it was a very good structured and written dark stalker romance.

First, I have to say that I loved the Lilith character's arc - from scared, scarred and wounded to strong, brave, confident woman. It shows how much she grew with the help and support of Elias. The feminine rage here was so delicious and amazing! And I really adore Elias - saw her from afar and immediately became infatuated and protective to the point where he loved by himself in secret without her knowing. But even though he loved her and wanted her he was still respectful of her boundaries, wants and needs shows that he was the perfect man for Lilith. AND! He fell in love not only with fmc but with her art too - he was entranced by it, was supporting and wanted her to continue this path and even made her dreams possible. Loved their duo.

Besides Mia was the bestest girl friend Lilith could have had. Always there, supportive and caring, although sometimes a bit more caring than it needs to be, but it was her way of saying that she loves Lilith and is there by her side no matter what. The fact that she would immediately drive in the middle of the night to the mountains for Lilith speaks for itself.

The plot was based mainly on the love story, but the moments about their previous life or the one that they're leading now put more volume to the story, brought it together. Have to say quite loved the family drama, and I'm intrigued by Sebastian - he reminds me of a snake, but still have to figure out if he's a good one or not...

So for those who love dark stalker romance, with secrets, trauma, family issues, lovely and protective golden retriever mmc with morally gray vibes and emotionally scarred, but brave and confident fmc with bloodlust tendencies this book is perfect for you.

Firstly thank you so much Kiy Daniels for giving me the opportunity to be an arc reader for this book!

Now let me get into my review. So I am a huge reader of dark romance and this book was definitely a top tier especially with this being her first book. I will say for anybody who can’t handle some things that can come to play in dark romance please check her trigger warnings! But overall for me I devoured this book. And honestly I felt a huge pull towards the MFC because of her past and how hard it is to not be stuck in those nightmares.

This book gives everything that I look for in a dark romance. The spice level wasn’t too all consuming but it had its fair amount I was happy with it. The way the relationship builds with the MFC and MMC absolutely adored. The fact that our MMC was always lurking in the shadows aww. Call me crazy but it made my heart happy. The story line keeps you intrigued and want to keep turning the pages. And the ending was 100% beautiful. Am I sad this story ended of course but did it end in the most beautifully perfect way also yes.

The way the MFC growth in this book is wrote kept me on my toes. It takes a lot to show just how much development a character makes in a book and this one took the cake on the growth department. And the MMC being there to help with it I couldn’t get enough of. The other characters as well in this story like Mia the best friend and Jayce you grow to love. You get to feel every character in this book on an emotional level that I’ve very rarely had with the books I’ve read.

I will be recommending this book to anybody looking for a good dark romance book. This is one I will be adding to my collection. And honestly probably reread because I loved it that much.

I was given the honor of arc reading this and I must say it was incredible throughout. It is a perfect blend of smut and dark romance. From beginning to end it kept me reading, not once did a single chapter feel boring. I deal with ADHD and have had many books start boring me from how long the chapters felt. That was not the case with this book. Every chapter felt just right. Also, I’ve always been a fan of when authors give the two main leads POV’s. I like to see inside the head of both characters and this book did not disappoint. I also loved how the author used italics to differentiate between flashbacks and present day. Not to mention the use of black dahlias to decorate the chapter beginning pages and knives when necessary. The author also did a wonderful job describing every scene so that I could perfectly imagine what was going on.

Throughout my entire time reading, I absolutely fell in love with the best friend , Mia. Growing up I didn’t have a best friend, and this book made me wish I had a best friend like Mia.
Then we get to Lilith’s love interest Elias, there were times where I was like “damn I wish I had a guy who was protective of me like that.”
My past with troubled relationships really helped me get pulled into the story as if I myself was taking the role of Lilith. Though, I am grateful my past relationships weren’t as bad as hers.

One last thing, every single question I got throughout reading this were answered by the end of the book. There was a twist that I never saw coming, and when I read it I was like “ oh damn!”

10 out of 10 , cannot recommend it enough.

She recently posted a tiktok video showing the two books that inspired her for this book.
-where’s Molly? By H.D Carlton
-the butcher and the blackbird by Brynne Weaver

Motivation enough right there!

Spice scenes were not over barring or overly in your face. Just the right amount of tension and lust.

She did a fantastic job keeping me on the edge of my seat, every chapter was a cliffhanger into the next one.

It’s a Stalker romance but in a romantic, hero soft spot in my heart way.
The plot twists and the moments I had to put my phone down and go “are you for real!” And immediately book dump on my husband (like he cared)

It has Mafia mention which plays into the book fantastic.

Read the trigger warnings, I wouldn’t say they were unbearable, but they are mentioned and explained in detail in some areas.

One thing I love about this authors writing, is getting to the point without leaving out too many details and without giving me 6 pages of details. It flowed great, it read easily, and if I didn’t have to be an adult this week I would have read it in 2 days.

I can’t explain the story without excitement and ruining it all, so read the reviews, read the bio of the author, and read the summary and take a chance.

Great job! Kiy Daniel’s, already waiting for your second book ❤️

This is a strong debut that shows a lot of promise. The writing drew me in, and I can see the care that went into building the story and the characters. One of the things I appreciate most is how authentic it feels. It doesn’t read like typical fiction—it feels real. The way the characters react to situations, the emotions between them, and how quickly some moments unfold while others take their time all reflect the rhythms of real life. For a debut, that level of realism is impressive, and it sets this author apart from many other dark romance stories I’ve read.

At times, the book did feel a little rushed, especially considering its length. There were moments where I wished the story had slowed down just a bit to let certain events or emotions linger longer. That said, I was impressed by how much the author managed to fit into a shorter book without it ever feeling confusing or overwhelming. It’s a lot of story packed into a tight space, and it worked. Those moments only left me wanting more, which is a good sign for future books. Beyond the romance and drama, this story is also a beautiful journey of self-acceptance and working through your past. The characters’ growth and the way they confront their own struggles make the book feel even more real and emotionally resonant, leaving a lasting impression long after the last page.

Firstly, I would like give my thanks to Kiy Daniels for allowing me the opportunity to ARC read their dark romance.

I truly believe if you are not someone who usually reads dark romance, this is absolutely one that would be a great introduction into the genre.

The story itself isn’t something extremely dark, but that being said, please make sure you look at those triggers before moving forward.

This is a stalker romance that is between two morally grey characters, we have Lilith, a painter that is trying to move on after escaping their dark past, and Elias, the heir to a crime organization that is trying to move on from his family’s darkness.

Deep at its core, this story is a beautiful picture of how far people will go to protect the one’s they love, even if it means diving back into the darkness that they’re running from.

This story is told so beautifully, it’s so vivid the aspect that our main character is a painter works very well with this because of how vivid the prose is told.

Overall, this book is definitely a 5 star read for me, honestly, I was so sad to even leave the story that was being told. I love the dynamic between Elias and Lilith and I loved watching it grow into a gorgeous connection.

Thank you so much, Kiy Daniels for sharing your story with the world and allowing me to ARC read it.

"Before I stain the fabric of my canvas, I glance up at him. When our gazes lock, I let myself explore the forest trapped inside his. I wander over the lush green, reminding me of moss clinging to boulders. A color similar to pine swirls near his pupil. There's even flecks of yellow that remind me of gold speckled lichen, formed on the trunks of massive trees. It's an enchanted forest, all growing from inside him."

Wow, just wow. I don't even know where to begin. "Beneath the Red Lights" by Kiy Daniels had me enraptured with the art that is her writing much like Elias is drawn to Lilith's paintings. If you're looking for a dark romance book that's a fun, beautifully worded read with just the right amount of grit, this book is for you. Daniels always had me wondering what was going to happen next, and easily delivered what I think is a masterclass in storytelling. I encourage anyone wanting to take a foray into dark romance, or seasoned dark romance readers, to pick up this book (and mind your trigger warnings that she thoughtfully puts beforehand!) and read it cover to cover.

This one is dark. Graphic and haunting. Definitely dark.
The MMC is a former mafia son who left the family to make his own life and own decisions.
The FMC is running from her traumatic past and is on a self destructive path.
There are a few twists and turns in this book I didn’t see coming which was refreshing.
A lot of tears for the FMC.
Without giving spoilers I can’t say much about why this book was so good but kiy Daniels takes us on a journey… A slightly unhinged, at times a bit concerning journey. Within the universe created in this book we’ve been left with atleast 1 more potential book. Both the main characters and side characters were well developed and felt real enough that their reactions felt honest.

Duel POV
stalker romance
Mafia (slight, not main focus)
Mild spice
Slow burn
Touch her and die
Mental health issues

As always make sure you check the trigger warnings.. did I mention this was dark?

It's very minimal but is there. Some scenes are a little graphic on the page..

This is a slow-burning read. Minimal spice..
The characters in this book had pretty good chemistry. A little banter..

Lilith and Elias make a perfect couple. Getting to that point was anything but. Perfect. The first read of this author wasn't too bad. The storyline had great promise but got a little confusing at times. If you get through some of that towards the end get better.

I will read more of KIY Daniels books

Thank you Kiy Daniel’s for allowing me the honor of being an ARC reader.

First I have to say this book was so hard to put down. I found myself reading until late at night and my husband asking if I’m coming to bed lol. It has you hooked from the first page. Best thing that I found is it had me hooked from the first page all the way to the last. This book is the perfect combination of Dark romance and spice. The story line was great and I loved how it slowly told the back story as you kept reading. The story flowed so beautifully and kept me on the edge of my seat and thinking about the characters after I’ve put the book down for a little to do chores around the house, or other daily activities.

I have already recommended this book to a lot of my book friends that love the same kind of books as me. 10/10 I do recommend.

*Check the trigger warning because they are definitely in the book*

I really enjoyed this book and gave it 4.5 stars.

From the beginning of the book, I was hooked and needed to know what was going to happen with the main female character, Lilith. As she escapes a traumatizing relationship and lifestyle to have freedom and peace, she still finds herself constantly looking over her shoulder in fear of her past coming back to haunt her.

Throughout her new journey, she makes a friends with Mia who truly is the support Lilith needs. Mia is bubbly and full of life. No matter how many times Lilith would try to block out the world, Mia never turn her back on Lilith.

When Lilith gets an invitation to display some of her work in an art gallery back in the previous town she left, she hesitates but decides to go through with it. This is where she meets Eli. He has the charisma about it that draws her in. Even though she is hesitant and trying to find every reason to have nothing to do with him after the art show, she still can’t escape him.

Wow this book blew me away, I couldn't stop reading it. I swear I couldn't put it down I had to know what happened next. A traumatized FMC, A kick ass best friend, and an obsessive MMC that the FMC doesnt see coming. This man knows no boundaries when it come to her. Everything he does is for her since the moment he laid eyes on her. This book will give you chills and leave you breathless. The spice is phenomenal and if I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. The emotions this book evokes, the passion for what you love, and a will made of iron. It shows that no matter what you have been through, no matter how hot the fire gets, you come out on the otherside and hey you just might like who emerges. Bravo to the author you fixed something inside me I didnt know was broken. Also please can we have a book on Mia and Jayce pretty please.

I received an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book did not disappoint as a dark romance. The character of Lilith is a raw and real depiction of someone struggling to move on from an abusive relationship. I rarely read books that can so accurately capture those feelings. The constant need to move on but not sure how to, finding ways (both constructive and destructive) to cope with all the conflicting emotions and the need and hesitancy to trust someone again with those feelings of love. Elias is also a character that easily draws you in with his need to help Lilith, even if its to save her from herself. Their slow burn romance keeps you wanting more until they finally are able to give into their desires. This was such an amazing debut for this author and I hope to see a lot more from her.

I had the chance to read an ARC of Beneath the Red Lights, and it’s one of those stories that didn’t immediately sweep me away—but instead snuck up on me in the best way. The opening took me a little while to settle into, but once the world and the characters unfolded, I couldn’t stop turning the pages.
What really stood out was the character development. KIY Daniel’s builds flawed, raw, and deeply human characters who feel layered and real. Their choices carried weight, and I found myself thinking about them long after I closed the book. The atmosphere was dark, moody, and intense—exactly what I look for in a slow-burn story.
If you’re someone who enjoys immersive, character-driven romance with a gritty and atmospheric edge, I recommend adding this one to your TBR. It’s a story that lingers.
Thank you to the author for trusting me with an early copy!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ // 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Thank you Kiy Daniel's for giving me a chance to ARC read this book for you. It was a good book. There was a lot to it. A variety of genres mixed within this book. A lot of great character development for main characters as well as some side characters.

I have to admit, I didn't really get fully invested until after the first three chapters. But once I was locked in, I was locked in. I loved the character growth within this book. Not a lot of books have indepth character growth, and this one does from both MMC (Elias) and FMC's (Lilith) POVs.

I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. It had the right amount of spice for the pace it was going. It's a slow-burn, but the attraction and connection is there from the start.

I do hope there's another book to come for sure. I'd love to see more of Jace or Mia. *cough cough*

I had the honor of reading this as an ARC, and I enjoyed it for the most part.

I liked the premise, and the plot and storyline were well thought out, and overall pretty well written. What made me rate this book low (3.5 stars) was all the little errors. There a lot of malapropisms (and I don’t think they were intentional, as they often can be for comedic effect) and there were many idioms that were just a little off, in such a way that it pulled me out of the story so my brain could make sense of what was written, vs what was meant.

This book also wasn’t as dark as I was expecting, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it was just left me feeling a little underwhelmed. I feel like this is “light” dark romance, so if that’s your thing, and you’re not a stickler for idioms, you just might enjoy this book.

I had the honor of being a ARC read for this novel. I will say that this book definitely pulled me and I had a hard time putting it down. The plot was so well written, and the author gave so much depth to the characters that felt like I could have really know them. I liked that Eli let Lilith grow by herself (for the most part) but he was still there no matter what even if he flet like he should try to shield her. The only reason this book is not a five star for me was, that I was very confused for the first 2 chapters like a bunch of plot had happened that I already missed, and also I wanted to have a little more spice happen between the two main characters. All in all this was a great read and I highly recommended you go get your copies.

⚡️ Review ⚡️

Beneath the Red Lights isn’t just a book—it’s an experience. Kiy Daniels doesn’t hold your hand or ease you in. She throws you straight into a world of raw power, divine chaos, and brutal truths wrapped in poetic fire.

The writing feels like standing beneath a neon storm—myth collides with modern grit, beauty tangles with destruction, and every page dares you to keep up. This isn’t a story you just read. It grabs you by the throat, drags you through shadows and light, and leaves you staring at the last page thinking, “What the hell did I just survive?”

Dark. Bold. Unapologetic.
If you want safe and simple, look elsewhere. But if you’re ready for a mind-bending ride that burns long after you put it down—step beneath the red lights.

dual pov

For a debut novel the author knocked it out of the park with this one. the writing was fantastic. gave details without beating around the bush if you know what i mean. the mix of genres was well up there with other authors like hd, weaver, navessa allen and leigh rivers. the scenes werent forced and bland they were authentic and real like. i actually felt the emotions. the spice while there wasnt the entire plot. i was here for it. my favorite thing about the entire book was the self acceptance and working through all the trauma. that was the most beautiful thing about this book. it drew me in and didnt let me go and i look forward to more from this author.

Wow. What a book! I do love Dark Romance books so having the chance at this ARC was great. For me it was a fast read but so worth it. There were many twists in the book I could predict but a few I did not see coming.

4 stars means it's awesome but I will only read it once. I put this on my notebook as 4.25 stars and 2.5 chilies for spice because it did heat up quite a bit at the end.

Elias was an amazing book boyfriend... even with his stalking tendencies. You cheer for Lilith to find her way after so much hardship. In the end, you will be happy. Must read trigger warnings! Would I recommend this to my mom? NOOO. But to my dark romance peeps, absolutely!

I was hooked at the first sentence!!

Character development was amazing. The book flowed perfectly and was so easy to get lost in. The storyline and twists and turns it takes you on are worth it. The highs and the lows make it even better.

Minimal spice

Liliths growth in the story is beautifully written. I loved getting to know her and see her come out of shell more and more.

Elias had his funny moments that made me giggle. I love how he showed Lilith patience and understanding about her feelings and let her do what she needed to do.

I will definitely be reading more from Kiy Daniels!

This book was soooo good. One of the things I love the most is when I can truly empathize with the characters. Kiy Daniels did just that. Lilith will forever be a piece of my heart. Her character is a lovable kind of dark. Elias is the brooding but will-do-anything-for-her type. They are two halves of a whole, and the way it burns is scrumptious. The plot was at a good pace and kept it interesting. I love some good spice, but I also love a good plot. Kiy blended those amazingly together. I would definitely read this again, and it is now probably one of my favorites.

I can't wait for what Kiy writes next, and I would also love to see more of Lilith and Elias.

This book was very well written and the story was gripping and held my attention. There are triggers that may affect some readers and should be acknowledged prior to starting this book. The MMC and the FMC had the best banter between them that I have read in a while. For this being written by a new author it is extremely well written. I only hope that this author will write a second to this book focusing on the two main characters in the first book and the two sub characters possible relationship. I look forward to reading every book this author writes and now know that when she writes another it will be worth the read and the wait!

This book was done well. It has all the dark romance vibes while bringing something new to the table. Our woman in charge Lilith is a fighter and you go through the story you see how big her fight is. I love it. I love our mmc he is what you need in this story and he pairs well with the fmc. There is so much space allowed for both characters to grow and heal it shows why this genre is amazing. So often their can be pain with no pay off no way for the audience to overcome along with the those in the story. But this is not the case. I feel as though we are able to see how our characters can find life again. I had a great time reading it I hope you will too.
