As the wizarding world teeters on the brink of war, Hermione Granger returns to Hogwarts with a Prefect badge, a stack of revised revision schedules, and the unshakable feeling that something is deeply wrong. With tensions rising, friendships cracking, and threats looming both inside and outside the castle walls, Hermione must navigate a year of potions, politics, and personal choices that could change everything.
This is the same story you know—told from the perspective of the girl who noticed the details Harry missed. It’s about love that isn’t returned, truths that aren’t believed, and bravery that doesn’t always make the headlines.
Because sometimes, saving the world looks a lot like doing your homework… and other times, it means giving everything up.
Fantastic book. Imaginative and engaging. Such a great read. Could not put it down. One of my favorites by Sara Baines-Miller. The author states "a dare years ago has turned into me rewriting the entire Harry Potter series from Hermione's point of view. . . So I've spent the last six years filling in the gaps - (Harry is the least observant narrator in history) showing the story through the eyes of the smartest witch of her age."
I've read all of these - I'm surprised this is the first I've added to Goodreads. My stance is still very much "Fuck JKR, read as much novel length preferably queer fanfic as possible."
It would be nice if the new Hermione-focused subplots weren't so incredible relevant, but yeah, we live in super shitty times as well.
