Murder, moonflowers, and meddling book clubbers—just another week in Neeley Kelter’s world.
Life in Clover Haven is never dull, but Neeley Kelter didn’t expect the man hoping to open a local winery to die after the town meeting. Especially not by running into traffic like a panicked raccoon. When tests reveal he was poisoned—with something from Neeley’s own garden—suspicion lands right at her flower-covered doorstep.
Now she’s juggling a nosy book club turned amateur detective squad, a pug with zero boundaries, and a sheriff who makes her heart race for all the wrong (and right) reasons.
Neeley needs to dig up the truth fast—because in a town this small, gossip grows faster than weeds.
If Neeley doesn’t stop being dumb soon, I don’t know what I’ll do! It’s so obvious Troy likes her and she likes him. Heck, everyone in town suspects, if not knows, it too! It’s driving me crazy and honestly sometimes it takes me away from the mystery at hand.
However, there is a mystery and I could not put this book down except the few times I fell asleep. Buuut! That is NOT because this was boring by any means. No, it’s because I’ve been reading rather than doing my daily chores and I’ve tired myself out trying to keep up with it all.
There were a few suspects - Neeley was one, but not really. Troy and really everyone knew she didn’t do it, but there was evidence pointing her way. Then there was evidence pointing Jackie’s way and Pedro. I honestly wasn’t sure who it’d turn out being, but initially when a particular character was introduced my intuition said it was them. I was actually right! However, my brain was here and there wondering if I was correct.
This was well written and I wouldn’t have been surprised to discover the killer was Roberta! I honestly hoped not though because a girl has to have a sidekick in crime and another bestie (Jessa), so hopefully Kristi never makes those two killers. 🤞🏼
So, ya, great book! I’ve already started book 3! My hope is that Troy and Neeley finally get their heads out of their behinds and kiss or at least admit they like each other as more than friends. Perhaps Troy actually did read the letter Forrest wrote to Neeley and he’s holding back. 🥰
Next is book 3, “Malice Among the Marigolds”. Guess we’ll be reading about Neeley hating marigolds. She thinks they stink and doesn’t like carrying them in her flower shop, but they do sell well…
Thank you for reading my book thoughts “review”. See you next time. Deuces to your cabooses! ✨🤞🏼✨
Excellent mystery. I did figure this one out pretty quickly but the twists and turns were great. Honestly, I can't wait for Neeley and Troy to get together! This is a wonderful clean, cozy mystery series. I still love the Harmony Landing series but I hope all 4 main characters end up solving crime together!!
Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down until I finished it! It is so well written you do not realize how long you have been reading. If I was stranded on a deserted island and could have only one series of books, this one would be it. The characters stay with you long after you finish the book.
