After having foiled multiple assassination attempts during his training, fighting pirates, and encountering a group of terrorists bent on destroying entire solar systems. Desmond McLaughlin thought he’d have an easier time of it on official deployment.
Which of course leads into an honor duel with another adept, more encounters with the terrorists, and learning from an Imperial Quester that the terrorists were actually a cult believed to be sponsored by one of the Hegemony’s neighbors.
One would think that Desmond would learn to not tempt fate at this point...
But that was not enough for the Clan Sire of Clan McLaughlin. Even trying to keep his head down and stop causing problems—as Captain Skytreader requested—Desmond can’t help but find trouble as the Fist of Defiance finally gets its replacement adepts and they head back onto their patrol route with the rest of the Seventh Border Fleet. At least he’s got his fifth guard picked out, now just to decide who will take the sixth slot on his team.
The question that haunts Clan McLaughlin now what sort of trouble might they run into next? Accidentally sparking off an intergalactic war? Having a Rift go nova on them? Or maybe—just maybe—Fate might cut her favorite squeaky toy a break.
Not likely.
*** Monster Girls In Space is a Sci-Fi, fantasy, semi-military, men’s romance, progression fantasy about a man becoming a space-wizard amongst a universe full of monster girls (it’s in the title, you should have expected that part). Expect adventure, mischief, magic, fighting, and unconventional relationships in a galaxy that is curious what sort of mischief Humanity will get up to.
Story stars fun and fast and then takes some seriously wild turns that had me devouring this book at the cost of sleep. Definitely outperformed the previous entry. I can't wait to see where he ends up as an officer and when he will be made to rotate back to Terra to slap some sense on the politicians. Can't wait for the next one, hopefully sweet Bell gets her chance to join too.
More monster girls. More space conspiracies. More adventures. This somehow has gotten even better. I love the growing dynamic and the furthering of the clan we get in this book. My only compliment is that I wish there was more pages (and my preference would be a bit more spice for the romance) the author continued the separation of the spicy scene/s with chapter marked by <3 so those who want standard scify can just skip that chapter however i find it jarring that there is 0% romantic contact or mention of physical intimacy existing girls throught the rest of the work. I understand keeping the new sex scene itself clearly separate so people can skip it but not even a few kisses or anything else throught the book between him and his growing mates seems very odd to me. Baring the once chapter the rest makes it feel like a censored old Romcom anime where protagonist isn't even allowed to be shown kissing thier gf or bf. Lol ......still 5 out of 5.
You guys seriously need to read the continuation in an absolutely amazing series. I love Des and the girls, even the newer ones, so much, though I do feel a smidge of sympathy for Fates’ Squeaky Toy. What I loved most about this book was getting to see life impacting serious consequences for the actions taken, something I feel like I don’t often see in fantasy books, so it took a refreshing turn and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I’d also love to submit my application for the Church of Boom please so if anyone can let me know where to do that, much appreciated.
the story and The adventures continue to entertain. I really enjoy the characters and the way they're fleshed out and the well written science fiction happening in a well-paced story. there is lots of action and well thought out fight scenes. there is only one spicy scene and it is confined to a short chapter that can be skipped if one so desires. I am having lots of fun and looking forward to more in the future.
This book is another strong entry in this really interesting series.
The MC finds himself dragged further into whatever plot some cult is up to, as he tries to navigate being a Clan Sire of his newly formed clan.
The harem grows by one, who doesn't do anything for me. His guard expands to the full complement of 6, and the new guard is also someone that does nothing for me. I'm not into the more animalistic women, but that's a me problem.
Another fun run in the ever present life of Desmond McLaughlin. Again I find myself drawn deeply into the words and the descriptions of this story. I can see the main characters and their reactions and such. In my mind can just see how heroic all of them are. If you are into a good scifi with a smattering of spice and a lot of twists and intrigue. Then get yourself out to the Hegemony and read the adventures of Clan Maclaughlin, and Arsenal.
Saw this series pop up in my feed several times and politely ignored it. Didn’t sound all that interesting. Boy was I wrong. This series is amazing. Has a bit of everything in it. Action, mature content and did I mention lots of action. The Mc is a relatable character who cares more about others than he does himself. Loved this new book and really can’t wait to read hopefully many more books to come.
I've thoroughly enjoyed everything I've read by this author but by far this is my favorite!!! This science fiction adventure compares if not surpassing several of the great science fiction writers of our time!!! A wonderful blend of hard and soft science, beautifully described characters and bar none some of the best world building you will ever read!!! This is definitely a series,I would label Must Read!!!
Man I just don’t have the words to describe how enjoyable this series really is, I would usually sit down with a book like this and take my time reading through it while taking some breaks every so often, but with this series the moment I pick it up I can’t put it down until my eyes start straining cause it’s 2 am and I had picked up the book at 2pm lol. Anyways much love to the author for another hit.
There are very few book series that have made me more happy than this series.
This book series hits all the notes of Star Trek but will invested personal stories surrounding the mc.
Although I initially started for the relationships, I stayed for the character development, immense world building, space battles, and exploration. I love the book series now as a true novel and I cannot wait for more.
By the sixth book there is a chance that the story or writing peters out or you get a ‘filler’ book. That is not an issue in this series. Another strong story with continued world building and character depth. A good progression without things escalating too fast and ‘jumping the shark’. Another great book and can’t wait for the next!
Love the book and I only wish I could have the entire series now instead of having to wait for a new one. Great editing and a clean story path makes this a joy to read. I enjoyed the expansion of some of the world’s aspects that were only mentioned before. And space puppies!
Another solid volume, although Desmond can be a bit much at times. Also, I have a hard time believing that the galactic governments would take a reactive approach to the Jaar’ti as they are an unambiguous threat to all organic life. You would think the top priority would be hunting them to extinction. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to the next chapter in this story.
Alternate universe, magic, aliens, SF advanced technology, harem adult situations
Desmond and his ladies continue to stand out, officially adding Bell as his sixth guard, and their team makes even more of a name for themselves among the marines aboard their ship, Fist of Defiance. Anything treads close to being spoilers. Excellent editing. Enjoyable series!
This 6th book is solid, like the others before it. Great setting, storytelling, suspense set up for the next book (hurry up,but don't compromise). The battle scenes are great, detailed enough to engage but not over doing anything. The political side is there, but as a background. One of my favorite series, hope it keeps going for much longer.
Yes. Chaos. When nothing is logical but twist the rules its own way you adapt or die. But when you learn you can beat the enemy you can grow. Then the rules change again from outside influence you change to fight it. I cannot wait for the next phase of the adventure especially being injured and having to heal and trained to lead others.
Well written, fully fleshed-out epic. The books in the series doesn't focus on just the harem aspect, but each aspect is well represented. The books don't read like a child just discovering sex. It's balanced, thoughtful and as believable as a epic space fantasy can be... But HIGH PRAISE!!
What started as a lingering interest in this series from spring spotting it in suggested books, to absolutely smashing through it. Very good books, good twists and engaging while being light hearted between the wild moments. The little snippets before each chapter are writing genius.
Whew, does a lot happen in MGIS 6. From fighting space bugs to legally distinct not-Chaos cultists, Clan McLaughlin has their hands full. It's going to be a hard wait for the next book.
Desmond and the rest of Clan M Laughlin continue to go on adventures, with more exploration into magic and expansion of different facets from past works. Thoroughly enjoyed!
I love this book the build up was amazing and the thought of a shift! Back to training and more development of the charters is a great move. I enjoyed this book ,and am sad I am done . thank you for your hard work and I look forward to many more.
Another excellent tale! Characters who grow, consistent world building and a good story. All wonderful components and when added together correctly, lead to a great book. I look forward to seeing where the series goes.
I have been reading this series from the book one. Since then, every book has been phenomenal. Now I must go into sad mode, while I wait for book 7. I don’t want to rush the author because the quality of the books are great, but I really want to read book 7.
Lot's of action in this book. Another big battle with the bugs and an another big battle with the terrorists. The guard team gets filled out and the future of the clan is looking bright. Read it.
Best series out hands down. But if you like fish out of water stories. This is your cup of coffee. Also to all the vets out there or active serving military you'll absolutely love these books! Former USAF pilot myself and love these books!!!!!!
I have been reading sci-fi for over 50 years and this is one if the most interesting and well written series out there. The MC is amazing, the relationships blossomed at a realistic rate. Thank you for sharing your creativity and vision.
