Harry, a man whose life crumbles under the weight of alcohol, crosses paths with Asmodil, a vengeful undead god with unimaginable power. What begins as the story of a broken man quickly turns into a tale of cosmic horror. With Asmodil’s wrath stretching far beyond personal vengeance, it becomes threatening the world itself. It is a brutal, unflinching journey into darkness where pain, grief, and rage take center stage.

The book is frightening and strangely compelling. BJ Starink carves horror into the page with intensity. The author's commitment to building an atmosphere that unsettles the readers can be sensed. The story is gruesome, the descriptions are gory. The storytelling is raw, unapologetic, and often disturbing.

There is courage in writing something so uncompromising. The book holds a special kind of intensity. Asmodil feels like more than a horror story. It feels like a raw experience carved into language. I loved how the book was curated and that fierce book cover!

Book Review: Asmodil by B.J. Starink

Asmodil is a disturbingly dark narrative that submerges the readers headfirst into a world of sin, anguish, and paranormal malice. The main character is Harry van Zuid, initially a prosperous entrepreneur and a passionate family man. Then, after falling victim to alcoholism, Harry's life unraveled to his total deprivation. Specifically, alcohol stripped him of his wealth, of his family, and ultimately, of his soul. In a desperate act of redemption, Harry meets Asmodil, the God of Purgatory. Asmodil offers him eternal life in exchange for a series of horrific tasks, ultimately immersing Harry into horror, carnage betrayal, and irretrievable choices. As Harry wrestles with demons, ultimately he contends with the weight of his fall.

B.J. Starink has built a hype-filled, non-stop narrative arc that blurs the lines between horror and tragic morality tale. The uniquely short, impactful chapters make the book quick to read, but the visuals and haunting themes are dream-like and heavy. There are no landings here; the story of Harry van Zuid is charged with suffering, punishment, and the darkness within weakness. The reader is left with the question of whether Harry's demise was warranted, or simply subject to forces stronger than he.

Thought-provoking, and unflinchingly dark, Asmodil is not for the faint of heart, but horror fans will find it unforgettable.

Harry was successful and had everything but one addiction made him loose everything, he lost his family and the money because of drinking alcohol.

Kill for me and I will grant you eternal life, Asmodil laugh reverberate the room. Harry sold his soul to the demon and now he has one task to complete.

He wants everyone to feel the same agony and pain he withheld and suffered , for that he gives a choice kill for me or die. Either kill or loose everything. He wants to completely destroy Harry, as Harry faces an impossible task to kill the gatekeeper.

His family became the living dead and his wife now became a demon and the Asmodil traps her in his cold embrace.

Asmodil wanted Harry to kill the gate keepers and avenge his family but he didn't do it and now the coin has shifted and Harry life is in danger and his whole family become the toy for demon king Asmodil.

This book is not for light hearted people,in this you will see lot of blood bath and the demon walking and killing the innocent to fulfill their wishes , and to do that they can do anything they want.

The cover of the book looks scary and the title will haunt you when you finish the book.

The chapters are short and crisp and the language is easy to read and understand, the plot is nice and if you are into happy ending book then beware this one doesn't offer that what you seek.

Asmodil by Starink is a short 110-page book with a very dark theme. If you are looking for an easy read, then you should never pick this book up. But if you are for something dark and sinister and have a strong heart to endure a heartbreaking end, which is very close to the real dark world that does not spare anyone, then you should definitely read this book.

In the book we follow Harry van Zuid, a man who used to be a successful businessman, a perfect husband, and a caring father, but the moment he falls for alcohol, all his well-built life is destroyed in a minute. After some time, when he decides to take his family back and have a second chance in life, he faces Asmodil, the God of Purgatory. And his life goes another downhill, and we witness it and keep asking if he deserves it or if it is justified.

The author beautifully narrates the whole story with a gripping pace, and you will not be able to guess what Henry will face next. Even though the story is fictional, the portrayal of Henry and all of his journey is quite real. I enjoyed the story, and even though it will shake you a little, you won't be able to put the book down. So overall the book is an interesting tale, which I think any horror or thriller lover would love to read.
