Drawing Influence is a densely-packed volume of instantly-recognizable celebrity caricatures, around 150 subjects all flawlessly executed and assembled. Robin Schwartzman’s voice comes through clearly and confidently not just in her depictions of the icons featured within, but also in her choice pairings of quotations - some inspirational, some satirical, and some just silly. As a caricature artist myself, I often hear from onlookers that we make it look easy. Robin is the artist that makes it look easy even to me. The likenesses are so clear, so well-composed, and so consistent, it feels like she just snapped her fingers and conjured perfection out of thin air. But you and I know better - each drawing in this book is the result of a lifetime of studying, drawing, and mastering her craft. Robin is one of the most dedicated ambassadors of caricature, and this very book is further proof of that. Fitting then, as I consider Robin to be quite an influence - as I’m sure will any aspiring caricature artists who pick up this book!
