The long summer vacation has finally come to an end, and Ekaterina, her beloved brother, and their friends—Mikhail and Flora—are back in the capital for the second semester. After school kicks off and Ekaterina reunites with her classmates, her friend Marina has a genius They should organize a musical evening where everyone can showcase their talents! As a former choir girl, Ekaterina is more than happy to take charge. Her preparations for the event lead her to make the acquaintance of a classmate of theirs named Renato Selesar, a prickly yet adorable boy with an unbelievable talent for music. At the same time, tensions start rising between Ekaterina and Lydia Selesnoa—the daughter of a powerful marquess—who has her sights set on the empress’s throne. It appears Ekaterina’s recent closeness with Mikhail hasn’t gone unnoticed...
Our heroine gets a bit more involved with politics, although not exactly on purpose. It appears that organizing a music performance at class has more of a meaning than she expected. What follows is much like previous volumes, an entertaining story about the MC trying to enjoy life by making it better for everybody around her. No action, little romance as far as the MC is aware and the occasional eyeroll in the interaction between brother and sister. The world is also fairly typical for the genre. For me it is the characters and their interaction that carry the story and I enjoyed this volume despite that mentioned sister-brother interaction. There is little progression in the main plot, if there is any, because the author keeps mentioning in the afterword that romance is on hiatus. O well, for now it is an entertaining series that I enjoy reading and this volume has not changed my opinion.
This volume was more satisfactory than the last few, since we are finally past summer vacation. Poor Mikhail continues to collect rivals as Ekaterina is oblivious to any hint of romance, and has eyes for only her beloved Alexei. It’s hard to say who will be the end game, or if it will avoid the choice altogether. This one focuses primarily on music and the one sided rivalry with Lydia. I do appreciate that Ekaterina often sees her classmates through her Big Sister lens, and recognizes that some of their behavior is “sheltered teenager” that they’ll grow out of.
It’s kind of funny that she keeps adapting modern songs and being declared a genius. I’m pretty sure the hit duet she does with Flora is Let it Go 😂 after some poking around, the second song that Olga sings is Ayaka Hirahara’s Jupiter.

I loved the new characters and the return setting to the academy. My favorite siblings in all of literature! This was a nice side plot of sorts. Can't wait for the next installment. Thank you for creating such a wonderful story with endearing characters, Chidori Hama.
