Fallon’s life has always been filled with unanswered questions, mysteries for which she could find no answers. Then Jacob Roth returns to her after fifteen years, and her world is turned upside down. Handsome and deadly, Jacob proves to be a mystery himself, one which Fallon has every intention of unraveling. She soon discovers that the raven from her visions, as well as the matching raven tattoos she and Jacob share, all mean more than she ever imagined.
The darkness around her is growing, evil is rising, and in order to protect the people she loves from a terrible fate, Fallon and Jacob must untangle the threads of her past and tap into the true depths of her magical abilities.
The second installment of The Lonely Raven Trilogy grabs your heart in a fist and never lets go as Fallon experiences incredible love and unimaginable loss while discovering that she is braver than she ever knew.
Well, this didn't go the way I thought it might after book 1. I was hoping to explore more of Bergen to see what magic, if any, she might possess.
But we do get Jacob back and more secrets of what Fallon is capable of revealed over time. I was surprised how connected Fallon and Jacob became. The ways these 2 are bound and their raven tattoos and what it all means was fun to discover.
I can't believe I was crying at the end! I was so sad it happened and it was so unfair! I can't even say more and that also makes me sad.
Fair balances romantic moments with suspenseful elements, creating a gripping, well-paced story that still allows for deep emotional resonance.
She uses rich imagery to craft a hauntingly beautiful supernatural world that feels both dark and cozy. Magic isn't just suddenly revealed; she skillfully weaves breadcrumbs and clues that keep the reader constantly guessing and invested in unraveling the mysteries.
Fallon's character arc from lone wolf to a unique, powerful "magic girl" is fun to read. Fair expertly tackles themes like grief, heartbreaks (spoiler?), and the burden of being gifted.
The relationship between Fallon and Jacob is a strong point. Fair creates a deep, fated connection that fuels the plot, making the stakes feel intensely personal and adding a layer of poignant tension to the already thrilling narrative.
I was very excited to read The Magic Girl after reading the first book, and this book did not disappoint! The developments in this book were both exciting and heartbreaking, and it was so special seeing Fallon's story continue. Erika did a great job balancing suspense, mystery, romance, and fantasy. I am looking forward to Book 3, where I hope my burning questions will be answered :)
A thrilling and satisfying sequel! Many questions about Fallon’s past and magic are answered, but there are still plenty of unknowns that will keep you on a cliffhanger until book 3. Loved the romance, the magical world building (especially the cottage), and (always) the faithful character of Azul. This book filled my heart and also broke it.
After finishing the first book, our book club could not wait for The Magic Girl to be released—and the moment it was, we immediately added it to our schedule. This story pulled us right back into Erika Fair’s imaginative world and did not disappoint.
We are completely hooked by this series. The characters continue to grow in depth, and the story unfolds in a way that keeps you turning pages and wanting more. Erika Fair has a gift for world-building and storytelling that makes everything feel vivid and immersive.
By the end, we were all saying the same thing: now we can’t wait for Book 3. Honestly, this series would make a fantastic movie.
Excellent sequel. I might even like book two better than book one. This book had me so excited to learn more about Fallon's past and intrigued to see how her future turns out! The author does a great job describing settings and people, the use of clothing style and music preferences to give you insight into the characters personality is top-notch. The relationships Fallon has with various characters feel very real and relatable. The romance, the suspense, the magic all keep me excited to see what book three has in store for us! Oh, and so much more cheese for Azul in this one!
Fallon's story has captured my imagination and I can hardly wait for Part 3! This one was more of an emotional roller coaster than The Secret Girl, but in the best way. I appreciate how the author provides closure to some story lines, while leaving others open so the reader is anxiously awaiting the next book. While we got more of Azul's story in The Magic Girl, I hope there is more to come. I have fallen in love with a magic dog! I'd also like to know more of Colette's history too!
Did this book keep me up too late a few nights? Yes. Am I mad about it? No. No, I am not. Book 2 of the Lonely Raven Trilogy did not disappoint. It was a perfect continuation of Book1, but also once again the end got me! (If you need me, I will now be impatiently waiting for the third.) Loved that there was more magic and more ravens, and that questions were answered even as new ones popped up: everything you want and more in this genre.
It was so nice to return to Fallon’s world! I wish I would’ve re-read The Secret Girl before I started this one to remind myself of some of the details of book one but Erika does well to re-count the most important reminders before diving into book 2. This book took a bit of an unexpected turn but I was so happy to learn more about the raven, Jacob, and Fallon’s magic. I’m eager to read book 3 and see where we’re going next!
Well this didn’t end the way I thought it would…lots of tears… but what a fantastic read! Love this series so much! Magical, romance and mystery! Can’t ask for much more from a book💕
The second book of The Lonely Raven trilogy continues Fallon’s journey and is filled with magic, romance and intrigue. Erika’s masterful story weaving ability and character development gives us a beautiful novel with breathtaking emotional resonance. I cannot wait for the finale!
