ARC REVIEW for Vixen on the Vine by Jillian Graves
If I ever find myself in a swamp one day make sure you leave me there if Creature is there 😉
This short story was a very fun, sexy and viney read. Creature is a swamp monster who's job is to heal the swamp and keep it safe. He runs into Mia and is immediately entranced by her. Mia is a curvy, muscle mommy witch who is desperate for satisfaction that no partner has been able to give her. Well this swamp daddy's makes it his mission to give Mia pleasure by using her words and ALL of his vines 🌿.
Such a great read! Jillian Graves is so skilled at packing enough backstory into a novella to make it engaging and interesting! Wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the MMC but I LOVED Creature and Mia was another excellent FMC. Graves is GREAT at representation that feels natural and inclusive, because all bodies exist in the real world. Love love love.
ARC REVIEW FOR VIXEN OF THE VINES BY JILLIAN GRAVES ONLY
Rating: 5/5 ⭐️ What a great little swamp monster romance. We learn about Creature and Mia, and how the swamp brings them together. Very easy little read, but great storytelling nonetheless. I have read a few Jillian Graves books before and she definitely knows where to put the spice. I had a great time reading this short story and am definitely interested in reading the rest when the anthology releases.
My ultimate favorites was Beauty and the Lake Monster and Moist for her Minotaur! I was instantly obsessed with both those stories and overall, I had a fun time discovering current and new authors to me.
The Scottish Sphinx was equal parts hot and romantic! I am a sucker for a scottish man, especially one who loves curvier/bigger women. This was such a perfect start to a monster romance anthology and I'm so excited to experience the rest of them
My Rocky Fate wasn't bad in my opinion, but it definitely isn't my favorite story so far. Fate-mates with three gargoyles who find you in every lifetime only to be doomed to death is right up my alley, but I feel like the switch between strangers to "in love" happened too quickly after the story dragged for about 5 to 8 chapters... This would've been better if it was longer and it had more POVs.
Vixen on the Vine was interesting... I love the idea of a swamp monster who uses his vines and powers to keep marshlands and swamps safe from irresponsible humans. The concept of a witch needing an orgasm and a swamp creature willing to give them to her in exchange of her getting out of his swamp is so silly, but it works. I honestly just wish this was longer.
Beauty and the Lake Monster is by far my favorite story within this anthology so far. It had everything! The tenderness, the romance, the steam and I'll never turn down a loosely inspired tale of Beauty and the Beast.
Something's In The Water is the shortest story in the anthology, but it also is very unique. It gives small-town vibes similar to that of games like Life Is Strange and The Quarry. Which I loved a lot.
Strawberry Kisses is a sapphic siren and mermaid tale about treasure hunting, but finding love on the way. It honestly was so cute!
Moist For Her Minotaur stole my heart right away. I am a sucker for Minotaurs so I was really excited about this one. The writing was impeccable and the couple was such a joy! I can't wait to read the extended version in December. Also... this story made me so hungry lol
Review for "Moist for Her Minotaur" by Evangeline Priest:
Some walls are meant to be broken. Some hearts are meant to be claimed.
Lena (h) hopes to make her new bakery in the monster district a success. Chaos seems to follow her every move, and so does her landlord, Thorne (H), a minotaur who’d rather keep to himself than deal with her constant fires, both real and metaphorical. But every grumble, every sidelong glance, and every bite of bread he pretends not to enjoy pulls them closer.
When Lena earns a coveted spot in the New Vegas Dessert Showcase, she dreams big. Her vision’s bold, her flavors are rooted in her Filipino heritage, but the structure she needs to present it is beyond her skills. Thorne’s craftsmanship is the answer, and working side by side turns sawdust and flour into banter, shared meals, and lingering glances that neither can fully ignore.
A small accident in the kitchen sparks an unexpected tenderness that changes everything. Their connection deepens, balancing ambition with a slow, steady build of trust and attraction. The competition becomes just one part of a bigger story, where quiet mornings, easy laughter, and a shared passion for their craft bring them closer than either planned.
Lena grows from a determined but sometimes chaotic baker into a confident, focused competitor, while Thorne shifts from a guarded, solitary craftsman to someone open to connection and vulnerability. Their relationship evolves from reluctant acquaintances to true partners in both work and love, built on respect, playfulness, and the kind of support that changes lives.
A sweet and steamy, grumpy sunshine, minotaur-human, monster romance, exploring love, personal growth, cultural identity, creativity, trust, and partnership. It’s about love that grows from trust and playfulness into something unshakable, finding home in another person, embracing what makes you different, and daring to create something that lasts.
Review for Star Crossed Match by Petra Palerno Only 💖
An intergalactic dating reality show?? The way I would watch that show SO fast 😂
This was a super short, super spicy, and super adorable story. The MMC definitely had some ~special~ anatomy, and I loved his concerns about dehydration. Definitely made me laugh out loud!
Thank you so much to Petra Palerno for sending me a copy for an honest review! It made me want to devour the rest of this anthology.
What a short and spicy treat! I love me a monrom and once again Jillian delivers! Creature senses something is off with the swamp he’s duty bound to protect, and Mia is the witch whose energy is inadvertently affecting it. We stan a capable character who knows just how to fix what’s wrong and Creature is very good at his job…let’s just say they come to a mutually beneficial arrangement 😂 Some vibes you can expect: . 🌱 Problem-solving MMC 🌱 Tall, plus-size FMC 🌱 Swampscapades 🌱 Vine play . If you’re looking for a bite sized novella in the world of Jillian’s previous books (or maybe are looking to bust a slump), check out Vixen on the Vine in the Moist anthology!
This anthology was a fun read and honestly made me like the word moist because all the authors were on the same page regarding the theme. I'm just gonna rank out of 5 stars for each story because I feel that is more fair to the authors rarher than a blanket review.
Overall though I liked each story of this anthology and may pick it up to have as a physical copy because these anthologies eventually just.....become unavailable?? which I get it but also bruh
The Scottish Sphinx - B.P. Gilmore 🌟🌟🌟
This story was fun to read as I've read an Egyptian mythos monster romance before but the Sphinx in this story was a creative loophole to get around the culture/race insensitivity that can happen with different monsters mythos from around the world. I did find the Scottish Sphinx to be funny and I would be interested in reading more from this author tbh.
My Rocky Fate - Emilia Abraham 🌟🌟
I wasn't really a fan of this story but I liked how the FMC was written with a lot of backstory, but the author kinda lost me with the reincanation theory/living multiple lives and then dying but nothing really happens with that other than "hehe I lived past the usual amount" and then it ends. I like Gargoyle's but I think for this it felt kinda rushed (which yes it is an athology story, still tho).
Vixen on the Vine - Jillian Graves 🌟🌟🌟
I liked this story because of the FMC and I felt like she was written realistically (obv to a point other than magic or whatever). But I liked reading about the swampman/dryad/plant creature. I also liked how the author set up the Strange creatures (magical beings in this world) and the familiarity with each other. I am not a fan of light bondage in the sense of like.....mummification. but other than that it felt like a nice story (smut) lol.
Beauty and the Lake Monster - Hazel Mack 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I am biased towards this author and I am a fan of her writing so I feel like this review may not be as neutral as others lol.
I really liked this beauty and the beast retelling and loved learning about a new Haven from this author. I love how when this book meant monster this author took it to heart and meant MONSTER hehe. The writing for this story helped with progression but it also was still spicy in a good flow between the 2 mcs vs LETS FUCK NOW lol. Which hey I appreciate but for this book I threw my cringiness because of the theme of this anthology.
Something's In the Water - Ash Raven 🌟
I like mlm (not pyramid schemes lol) but this was not my favorite out of the other stories. Maybe because it was only briefly mentioned that the MMC's love interest was a MARRIED MAN 🤢🤢 and also was the missing guy that they were talking about previously with their coworkers. Like I guess I did miss the anniversary of his cheating partner going missing but still I felt like this one was super rushed and tbh nit really my cup of tea. the ending felt very ambiguous and open ended with not a lot happening/resolving. like the author wanted us to read more ofbit somewhere else.
Strawberry Kisses - Whit LaVonne 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I really liked this sapphic mermaid x siren themed story. I think it helped that the author took her time to introduce both characters (in the short story vs jumping right into it). Which I appreciated because it helped give a better idea on both of their personalities and why they meshed well.
I think this was a well done short story focusing on the adventure as well as the dynamic of the two FMCs. The smut part felt kinda forced (not the kissing, but the sudden omg i need to take care of you aka fuck you) as it didn't feel like either of the FMC had like......flirting moments but maybe that was just me TBH. also i never want to hear a vagina be described as a pouch ever again. I get that it's a fish thing but I was like pouch???? and shes STORING THINGS IN THERE 😀
Moist for Her Minotaur - Evangeline Priest 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I liked this story a lot because of the more light heated themes and the MONSTER FUCKING. And the baking! I could tell the author did her due diligence with researching Filipino culture and more so the baking/flavors. I also liked the grumpy sunshine dynamic between Lena and Thorne.
I thought both characters were well thought out and their personalities were well written to the point I forgot that it was a short story lol
Overall a sweet story about a baker and her grumpy landlord and I lowkey highkey wish we got more (which we do because the author is writing an extended version that will release later this year 🫡😋)
Star-Crossed Match - Petra Palerno 🌟🌟
I'm giving this 2 stars because yes it met the theme of Moist but it did not meet the theme of monster fucking imo. I've read this author's previous works and I think it was well written but there was no monster. It was a sci-fi reality dating show concept and just fucking with no monster to be seen.
Overall a quick read because the chapters for this story are like barely 2 pages long (and I'm saying that as someone reading on their PHONE). But I was a bit disappointed because this author was the one who organized the whole thing so the Ode to Monsters theme just didn't apply to her?? I guess??

ARC Review The Scottish Sphinx - B.P. Gilmore ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶🌶/5
CW - light power dynamic, hand necklace, spanking, biting, DP, light breeding, spitting
Tropes - paranormal, strangers to lovers, fated mates, opposites attract
Representation - queer rep, plus size FMC, Black FMC
Short and sweet read about Hayden (FMC) and Lachlan (MMC), a sphinx who meet in Scotland and, of course, Hayden solves Lachlan’s riddle 😈
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
Škótska sfinga je súčasťou antológie Moist! An Ode to Monster Romance and the World’s Most Hated Word.

♡ Curvy, Muscle Mommy 6'3" FMC ♡ Anxiety Rep ♡ Swamp Monster MMC ♡ Bondage ♡ It's all about her pleasure
I was gifted an ARC of Vixen on the Vine from this anthology. I love how Jillian Graves always has a tall/plus size female main character, and I think Mia is the tallest one yet!
Obviously, this is an incredibly short novella so you know you are going in just for the monster smutt. 🫦 One of the tropes being "light mummification" on the author's socials was just wild enough to intrigue me. As a swamp monster, Creature absolutely uses plant life as bandage material more excessively than I've seen before. 😂
I would love to have gotten a full-length novel about these two and Mia's introduction to the Strange world and magic, but alas, I'll take what I can get.
The only reason this lost a star is because we didn't have a mutual ✨️finish✨️ by the end of it. But, good for you, Mia. Get yours, girl. 👌
Vixen on the Vine: Creature and Mia were so cute together. Mia is clearly getting her life together, and Creature is doing the important job of protecting swamps. When Mia comes to Creature's latest assignment — throwing off powerful 'stress thoughts' — he just has to help. There is really great consent in this novella and, as always, Jillian Graves wrote a beautiful representation of body types!
Star-Crossed Match: I love a dating show, and this intergalactic dating show was so much fun to read about. Our leading lady, June, is from earth and very much a fan of how Rated R things get on the show 'Star-Crossed' that matches different alien species together. June is matched with Ulthuri and the guy looks like a Greek statue...but a wet one! They are really cute together and this novella is so spicy!
These two stories set the stage for the rest in my opinion, and I can't wait to go back into this anthology and read the rest!
📚 Goodreads Review (Witty, reader-focused, and informative) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Moist! is a monster romance anthology that’s here to reclaim the world’s most cringeworthy word—and it does so with claws, tentacles, and a whole lot of slime. Releasing August 5, this multi-author collection is juicy in every sense of the word.
I got an ARC of The Scottish Sphinx by B.P. Gilmore, and it’s a short, spicy delight. Hayden, a nerdy and plus-size Black FMC, meets Lachlan, a mythological sphinx in Scotland. She solves his riddle (naturally), and what follows is a whirlwind of insta-lust, monster obsession, and some truly creative spice.
💫 Tropes: fated mates, opposites attract, strangers to lovers 💫 Rep: queer, Black FMC, plus-size FMC 💫 CWs: light power dynamics, biting, DP, hand necklace, and more
It’s hilarious, hot, and surprisingly sweet. If this story is any indication, Moist! is going to be a wild ride—and I can’t wait to read the rest.
- 5/5: The Scottish Sphinx by PBP Gilmore This was a new-to-me author. I liked this one so much I went and immediately read another one of her books.
- 5/5: My Rocky Fate by Emilia Abraham Another new to me author. This story was sad, but I quite enjoyed it.
- Unrated: Something's In the Water by Ash Raven Initially I gave this a 2.5 because it ended so abruptly, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it must be the start of a story. Also about the cheating spoiler its not wrong in saying it was past cheating but...
I'll try to remember to update this as I go but at the very least once I finish the antho I'll give it an overall/avg rating.
Vixen on the Vine by Jillian Graves Review: A swamp creature determined to do his job and a witch who ends up in his swamp... it's definitely an unlikely romance. Mia has moved across the country in order to hone her divination gifts but finds herself hitting a wall, it also doesn't help that she also hasn't had any physical satisfaction in years... so when her daily workout in nature ends up with her face to face with a very handsome swamp Creature he is determined to satisfy her... what's a girl to do but give it a go. A short, easy, and fun read! It's a great little read, especially for my Swamp Thing girlies.

All of these were super fun! I love The Rocky Fate and Moist For Her Minotaur the most. The Rocky Fate had a great take on Fated Mates and the 3 gargoyles were different enough from each other that they felt unique. As for Moist For Her Minotaur you really can’t got wrong with a Minotaur MMC especially if he’s grumpy!
Review is for Vixen on the Vine by Jillian Graves.
If @damewithapen is writing it I'm there. If its a Reacher inspired Swamp Thing monster romance you couldn't drag me away. 💚 Vixen on the Vine is a novella that's a part of the Moist Anthology and boy does it belong there. Witch Mia is on a very sweaty run through the humid swamp to burn off some frustration. Creature is the current protector of the swamp and notices Mia's bad attitude affecting his land. He can't have that. So Creature makes it his new mission to bring Mia as much pleasure as she can handle while bringing harmony back to his land. Win/Win! 👀 This was super short, super spicy, and a fun little interlude into the world of the Strange. All the thanks to the author for the ARC opportunity.
This is a review of Vixen on the Vine, Jillian Grave's contribution to the Moist anthology.
Creature, a swamp guardian, takes his job very seriously. So, when a frustrated witch disturbs the peace of his swamp, he'll do whatever it takes to help her.
Read if you like: -Paranormal Romance/Moster Romance -Short, Sweet, and Spicy
Vixen on the Vine is so fun! Creature is just so earnest and Mia is very relatable. She is all of us monster romance lovers as we stop to consider 'why is this so hot?' It's a short story, but a complete one. We get redemption and growth for the characters. A breakthrough and a happily ever after.
I’ve read Jillian Graves’s Vixen on the vine in one go! I know is a novella but her writing is so fast paced that the feeling is I’d like more, more about Mia and Creature. What’s next?? Those months? That’s her magic, that the readers need more.
Tropes you can find in this book: fantasy and paranormal romance monster/witch novella Dual 1st person POV Erotic tale No 3rd act break-up
This book is an open door one, with explicit sexual content that can be considered erotic.
My ratings: 4/5⭐️ 3/5🌶️
I’ve received this novella as an ARC and I’d like to thank Jillian Graves for letting me read this book in advance and allow me to give my honest opinion.
I received an advanced copy of Vixen on the Vine by Jillian Graves and am providing a fair and honest review.
Okay look. I hate the word "Moist" as much as the next person, and will freely admit I probably wouldn't have picked up this anthology if my choices were based on that alone. But even in such a short little story, Jillian managed to pack a ton of character development and spice in. This one is basically for all the girls who wished they could fuck a male version of Poison Ivy, let's be honest.
I love a single-minded hero (this man has a *job* and he's going to do it), and a heroine who's not afraid to ask for what she wants. Overall such a fun little read
ARC review for Vixen on the Vine by Jillian Graves
4⭐️ 3🌶️
This was everything I have come to expect from Jillian and I loved it! It was quick and spicy with an MMC who listens to the FMC and is willing to take directions in order to make sure she is happy. Who wouldn’t want a guy with absolute control over his vines?
My only wish is that it was longer! Which I mean as a compliment and not a complaint because I knew going in it was an anthology short. I just loved them and wanted more of Mia and Creature.
I read 3 of the stories so far and loved each of them. Vixen on the Vine is both adorable and super spicy. The MMC named Creature just wants to keep the swamp he’s in charge of healthy. Meanwhile Mia, a fairly new divination witch, is accidentally harming his swamp due to her being celibate and frustrated. Creature offers to his assistance (IYKYK). Who knew a dominant yet obedient swamp monster could be that hot. These short stories are perfect reads when you just want a bit of spice and fluff.
ARC review for Vixen of the Vines by Jillian Graves
A short but fun and spicy story.
I love how, even with the short story, Jillian Graves manages to make us understand who the characters are and what their goal is.
Mia is desperate to find someone that listens to her and her needs. And Creature is desperate to protect his swamp and really good at doing what is asked of him.
I really like them together and I hope we get to see them together in future books.
And as always with Jillian Graves, the spice was surprising, fun and high in heat.
This short monster novella is a quick romp in a swap. If you find the thought of swamp monster with multiple vines appealing this is the story for you. It is spicy, funny and down right sweet. I loved it.
Star-Crossed Match By Petra Palerno
If you ever have gotten obsessed with a reality show and wished you could be on it this is for you. Alien spice at its finest and funniest. Also matches the theme of the anthology perfectly. The epilogue had me laughing out loud it was so funny. Great short story!
Lena is a baker determined to win over her grumpy minotaur landlord, Thorne. She tends to be a bit accident-prone, and Thorne often has to step in to help. Luckily, Lena's persistence pays off. The attraction between them keeps growing stronger each day. All the pastries Lena bakes for Thorne are breaking down the walls. I love this story! These two characters are so good together, and they end up with a perfect happy ending. (This is a review of Moist for Her Minotaur by Evangeline Priest)
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Gleeful Goblin Review: This review is for the short story Moist For Her Minotaur from this anthology and after reading this story I had to pick up the whole book; it was just too good. As someone who loves all things sweet and carby as well as minotaurs I gotta say this little novella had me from the very start and never let go. Definitely a grumpy/sunshine thing going on with our broody minotaur custom furniture woodworker pine-ing ;) for our human sugar wizard Lena. When Lena is selected for a huge baking competition and needs a certain someone to build her a stable platform to create her culinary masterpiece display who could she call on but Thorne? This short story is as sweet an indulgence as an ube chiffon cake with coconut mousse; you can't help but devour it. 5/5 Stars.

✨️ARC Review is for Vixen on the Vine by Jillian Graves only✨️
A ṣhört 'n ṣëxƴ 'n möịṣt encounter between the Creature & Mia in the Louisiana Swamp...which leads to *a lot* more encounters... 😏 Mia is very frustrated. Creature is a problems-solver, protector, a giver that has many, many, many vines of all shapes & sizes plus a gïrṭhƴ pẹėn̈... 🥵 🔥💋 Creature definitely helps Mia with her frustration. 💚 (This story helped me like the word - moist better...lol...)
I read Vixen on the Vine as an ARC! This bite sized story packs the spice and leaves you wanting more from the badass FMC Mia and the swamp monster Creature she happens to get a little… tied up with. 🖤 If you’re into bondage, a service top and a muscle mommy who’s been going through a dry spell, you’re going to love this story! Loved this one and am excited to go read the plenty of other *moist* stories!
