Rate this book
Prince Atgeir Solstris only way out of the Thiar realm, a traveler’s stone, just broke as he was about to leave. Leaving him trapped in a different world, away from his home and family. Sparing no time, he immediately tries to find a replacement with the help of those who stopped the Blood chimera with him. The problem is that all the traveler’s stones across the realm are being stolen by a mysterious group of bandits, raiding and burning down villages as they tear through the land. Nobody knows where they come from or why they're doing this; everyone across the realm only knows them as a threat. As Atgeir scours the world for a traveler’s stone to get back to his home, the Severne realm. Another individual, a member of the Radiant Knights brotherhood, Grendel Rosenrot, a chivalrous warrior with a pained past. He’s setting out on a mission to where the bandits are coming from and putting a stop to all of them, to protect the realm.

Everything is chaos. The entire Thiar realm is in utter turmoil, two arcane warriors fight through it, an elven prince that selfishly seeks to leave it, and a knight that righteously seeks to save it. Will their interests align, or will they just hinder each other's plans?

The story of Prince Atgeir Solstris continues off weeks after or so after the ending in the previous book. He's now stranded in another realm and now has to find a traveler’s stone so he can use a realm gate and return home. The thing is though all the traveler’s stones in the realm are being stolen by these mysterious bandits that just showed up, now he has to find and defeat them to get one. He’s no the only one after these bandits, Grendel of the Radiant Knights brotherhood is out to stop the bandits as well for a more noble reason, protecting the people.

It is a great sequel, adding to the book's lore and world. It has far more darker moments than the previous book. Featuring heavy scenes in flashbacks to do with Grendel. It fleshes more of the secondary abd supporting characters from the blood chimera like exploring more of Kaylan's backstory and telling us about Fritz and Blaire's past. It shows Atgeir and how he's relationship has grown with he's team from just tolerating them to secretly respecting them in his own way. It has intense actions scenes involving physical and magical combat.

It is a story about loss, hope, family and found family, persistents, hope and never giving up. It is a great book for anyone that enjoys an epic fantasy adventure with some darkness.

A worthy sequel to the blood chimera, it's a plot rich book that expands on the story's world and characters. Following Atgeir and his group from the first as he tries to return to his home realm, struggling against a mysterious group of bandits. As well as Grendel and his group who wants to stop these same bandits from threatening the realm. It has great battle scenes and emotional moments. It has interesting characters developement from subtle to more obvious. It explores themes of leadership, ambition, loss, resilience and the will to go on as well as some darker themes. It's a entertaining plot from start to finish with a mysterious story intereweved beneath it.

A thrilling second installment. The characters develop more over the course of the read, discover new things about them andi get more insight into why they are who they are andwhy they do what they do. I get to see more of this fantastical world and how it works. The fights are still intense and creative. I love the new characters introduced, I'm mostly intrigued by Grendel Rosenrot, he's still a mystery even at the end of the book. The story is still holding me on and i can't wait for the next book.

It's an epic story of perseverance, loss and hope; I love how each characters have grown in their own ways from the previous like Atgeir is still kind of a jerk but he has grown to respect his team in his strange way. It's plot is larger in scale and with more characters, it looks like Grendel will be a niceadditionto the cast, his past is so intriguing. It's also great to see these fantastical creatures from other mythologies showing up in the story.

The writing has improved a lot from the first book, it has better pacing. Lot of the characters get more development and backstory while still leaving things out for future growth. The new additions brings in fresh prospective into the world, showing off more we haven't seen before. It's a great step up in story telling.

Incredible. I love it, its not as slow to start as the first book. I liked getting more information on Kaylan's past. Grendel is a nice addition, he contrast well with Atgeir. He's past is quite tragic compared to Atgeir and his personality. It has a good balance between fleshing out characters, there are a few characters I wished had more focus. One of the best books I read this year.
