Thank you to the author for this ARC 🫶🏻

Terina’s husband was k*lled years ago and she has been afraid of becoming close to anyone. When Diangelo is tasked with protecting her from the Russians, he can’t help falling for her!

They both have their own demons including loss of loved ones and mafia families. When they open up to each other, they find peace!

If you like an age gap, bodyguard romance with mafia vibes, then I highly recommend.

All the stars for Terina & DiAngelo😭

Look I love a mafia romance but when the MMC is the bodyguard and the FMC is his best friends sister you know I am gonna devour these tropes again and again👏🏼

Terina or Rina as she goes by is Renzo’s (Craving Chaos) sister. If you have read Tommy and Danika’s book you will know that even though Biba is no longer a problem, his son is and this is how our story starts. Renzo believes that his sister is a target and thus she needs protection so who better to do that than someone he trusts and knows will protect her. Of course Rina is furious but she understands the dangers and compromises.

Rina my sweet, she is a woman who keeps a lot buried beneath the surface. Rina quickly married a man she thought she loved when she was only 22 but things only went downhill when her husband was too focused on his job to give Rina a glamorous lifestyle that she was used to. Rina of course did not want any of this and all she wanted was his love, but now all Rina felt was loneliness in her marriage. Not long after her husband is unalived and this brings us to the present day where Rina feels enormous guilt because she knew the dangers associated with her family name and she got Craig caught up in this.

On the other hand we have DiAngelo who is also carrying grief. He lost his twin brother when one day when they were younger they decided to switch places and his brother was taken instead of him. It is a regret that DiAngelo always carries and he doesn’t forgive himself.

Jill does a brilliant job weaving between past and present so we get an insight to both DiAngelo and Rina’s past and this also helps readers understand how the characters are feeling in the present.

Now when I say you could cut the tension between these two with a spoon would be an absolute understatement🤭. Rina has closed herself off from a relationship as she doesn’t want anyone to get hurt but DiAngelo is from this world and he understands the dangers. DiAngelo also tries to keep his distance on the principle that she his best friends sister but you just cannot deny fate and chemistry.

I loved how slowly but surely these characters walls decided to come down and they opened up about their pasts. They were supportive of each other and gave each other the strength that was needed to work through that grief that they carried.

When the tension came to its peak it was like fireworks and the heat was turned up a lot🤭.

I won’t give too much away about this book but I absolutely loved it. There is a character that has a hidden identity throughout this series and I had quite a random theory about this at the beginning of this book but that’s all I’m gonna say👀.

Also Jill that cliffhanger??? Excuse me you can’t leave a woman like this, I need the next book pronto as this couple is gonna be interesting 👏🏼👏🏼

Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

I will always eat up a body guard trope & this one mixed with the age gap & brothers best friend?! It did not disappoint!!

Jill has a way of sucking me in with her characters and i absolutely loved Di’Angelo & Terina! He was such a protective MMC!! I loved how seriously he took his job. The tension & chemistry between these two were off the charts. I loved the added aspect of the tragic pasts & them both dealing with their own struggles. It made them seem so much more relatable and added to the character development in this book!

This book was plot & spice, but added emotion & healing that just pulled me in and had me so invested! If you love a mafia vibe book with all the tension, heat, and chemistry this one definitely brings it! Highly recommend this one!!

Holy crap I just loved this book and couldn’t stop reading. DiAngelo and Terina had the push/pull and banter down! I loved how they were both holding guilt and anger and pushing people away but it also allowed them to heal together. It was a beautiful story 💕

The mafia and organized crime element was just heavy enough to keep it interesting. I can’t wait for the next book with the cliff I am dangling from over here!!

”why do you call me that? why firefly?”
“because you’re my light in the darkness”

bodyguard AND brothers best friend?? sign me up!! ugh i loved this so much. both of our MCs have lost someone in the past that shaped the way they see relationships.

Terina’s husband was murdered a few years ago and she blames herself, which means she’s terrified of being the reason someone else gets hurt. DiAngelo lost his twin brother when he was a teenager and he blames himself because the kidnapper thought their family had money because of something D said..his twin was also kidnapped when he was covering for D at work (as in pretending to be him).

with a new threat on the horizon, Renzo assigns DiAngelo to protection duty for his younger sister, Terina. D has intentionally kept his distance because he feels things for Rina that he knows he shouldn’t. it doesn’t take long for those feelings to surface and for them to the cross the line into something more than bodyguard and charge. D would’ve done anything to keep Rina safe but now that she’s his woman? no one is safe, he would but the world down for her

-mafia lite
-bodyguard romance
-touch her and die
-brothers best friend
-widow FMC
-age gap
-BDSM lite
-forced proximity
-flashback chapters from both POVs
-protective/possessive

kicking my feet at the cliffhanger!!! i cant wait for the next book and im having mixed emotions for D. cliffhanger is a set up for the next book, we get a HEA for D and Rina

I was gifted this ARC on behalf of Hambright PR!

When I first saw the sign up for this one through the PR company, I had to immediately sign up! Age gap, brothers best friend, forced proximity, bodyguard and dom/sub introduction... need I say more?

Terina, who is Renzo and Tommy's sister who you meet in books 1&2 has led a tortured life. Someone who didn't want to be apart of the mafia; but didn't really have a choice. She tried to marry out of the mafia, but what she didn't know is that wasn't going to take her away from the life. Due to this she is now in danger after the events of what happened in book 2! Her brother Renzo decides that his best friend is the best person for the job!

You get to meet D in book 2, but you get everything when it comes to book 3! He also comes from a tortured background with prison in his background; but no matter what that makes him even better at his job at protecting his little firefly. He doesn't let anyone talk down to her, hurt her, or even think about doing anything malicious to her! He most definitely gives off the "touch her and unalive" vibes!

That cliff hanger has my brain spinning; make sure you also read the bonus epilogue at the end of the book! It's worth it!

"Don't allow him to darken a single day of your sunshine. Just let him go, okay?"

"There are as many what ifs in the world as there are drops of water."

Holy hotness! DiAngelo and Terina are 🔥🔥🔥!

Terina, or Rina as most people call her, is the sister of a mafia boss and is needing protection because someone is threatening her and her family. So her brother, Renzo, assigns his best friend DiAngelo, who is 10 years older than Rina, to be her bodyguard.

Rina and D don’t really get a long at first, but it’s only because they can’t be honest about the chemistry between them. Once things finally explode between them, there is nothing stopping them from being together. But they both have relationships in their past that have molded who they are now, and it’s hard to get past their own thoughts of themselves. But they are there to help each other through it.

When DiAngelo’s past comes to the present, everyone is stunned. And we will get that part of the story in book 4, about the Reaper.

Tropes:

Brother’s best friend
Forced proximity
Touch her and d!e

Ok. Now that is how a cliffhanger is done. Lol. Thats my first initial thought after reading. Note: the cliffhanger is not about the main couple in this book but leads up to the next couple in the next book.

Hunter’s Keep is fantastic. The characters, plot and execution were all perfect. If you are looking to dip your toes into the mafia world this is the perfect book. While it’s a book in an interconnected series it can be read as a standalone.

After threats from the Russians amp up, Terina ends up with the one thing she dreads.. a bodyguard. She doesn’t want someone risking their life for her especially her brother’s best friend D’Angelo and especially since he makes her feel things she hasn’t in years. D’Angelo knows what it’s like to feel responsible for someone and lose them and he vowed to never let that happen again.

The plot was fast paced and lets you experience the mafia world without being too dark. Great for a beginner. Both Terina and D’Angelo had serious baggage but it made the tension between them that much better. The chemistry was electric.

I cant wait to read the next book.

this book was such a fun, dark and spicy mafia romance and I really enjoyed it. The forbidden romance aspect added so much tension; he’s her brothers best friend and also her bodyguard (who can’t stop being a creeper and stares at her while she sleeps). It’s adorable how hard he tries to stay “professional’ but that man was whipped from the very start. The plot was great, just regular mafia shenanigans where she’s being hunted by the Russian mob, and there were some really shocking plot twists. For me, this book felt very charecter driven, with the dual plot lines, going into the past and retelling both Terina and DiAngelos trauma. Both of them went through so much, and I loved how they helped heal each other. I give this a 4/5

I received an ARC ebook copy. I didn't even remember signing up for a chance but was ecstatic when I got the email.

I liked this latest book in the series but I am a little more partial to book #2 (Deaths Favor).

In this story both main characters have some intense baggage but I felt Hunter dealt with it better than Terina.

I will say that something didn't sit right w/ me after reading chapter 27. I had a thought of "maybe" there was a possibility that there was a different outcome & I got my answer lster in the book (I was actually right...so excited). I cannot wait for the next book in the Moretti Men series; really interested in seeing what the author comes up with.

P.S. there is a cliffhanger at the end (not always a fan of that) BUT in this case I am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

This one was good! What a ride this story took you on. This was my first read of the series but it was easy to pick up.

I really loved how throughout the story Terina and DiAngelo became a healing force for the other to work through their past guilt to find peace and realize they’re not to blame for the trauma involving those they loved. Also, the nickname “firefly” is really cute! Overall the book was well written and I enjoyed the character development in addition to the romance aspects.

While I loathe cliffhangers I found the one in the epilogue to be bearable because the main story of Hunters Keep had already been wrapped up and this was simply to whet the appetite for the next book. A good example of when a cliffhanger is acceptable!

A mafia romance that remembered to have an actual personality instead of just men in expensive coats glaring at each other over vodka 🔥 🔥 🔥

The bodyguard trope absolutely stole the show. Add in the “best friend’s sister” angle, the age gap, and his very “dominant” personality (wink wink), and it’s basically engineered to ruin your standards for real men.

The tension was excellent. The chemistry… Off the charts. And the spice definitely delivers without overshadowing the story.

This was just pure fun from start to finish.

This was the best out of the three so far!
D was so conflicted and the tension between him and Ree was insane!
The back ground mafia drama in this series is so much fun and I enjoyed the back and forward of their pasts aligning with the why of their current emotions.
I cannot wait for Reapers book, the build up to him is actually too much! Like what do you mean, Jill?

DiAngelo and Terina’s story was absolutely amazing. A complex and smartly constructed blend of emotions, drama, romance, action, tension, heartbreak, tragedy and twists latches onto your attention and holds on tightly. I resented every single time I had to put this book down for anything because I was so invested. My heart broke for both these characters and ached for them as they struggled with overcoming past hurts, dealing with their grief and accepting they were both worthy of finding love and happiness and at the end? That surprise? What a stunner! Desperately need the next book ASAP!!

🎶 “I didn't see it till you took my favourite city. Infiltrated it and made it armageddon” 🎶

Five years after her husband’s murder left her drowning in guilt and grief, Terina (h) finds herself targeted by the Russian mob and placed under the protection of her brother’s best friend. DiAngelo Farina (H) is determined to keep her safe no matter how fiercely she resists him.

❤️.¸✿¸.•💌•.❀•THOUGHTS •❀.•💌•.¸✿¸.❤️

This felt like a repeated cycle of DiAngelo feeling jealous whenever he saw Terina with other men and then being pushed to act on his feelings for her. I was not necessarily convinced they loved each other because everything felt very lust driven. With the constant shifts between past and present chapters, I kept disconnecting from the relationship because we would jump back to individual moments in their lives where they were not even interacting. That interrupted the development of their relationship in the present timeline. Terina spent most of the book blaming herself for what happened to her husband (valid), while DiAngelo blamed himself for the death of his twin brother, Elio (also valid). They were both carrying guilt, shame, and self blame over situations they felt responsible for, so that shared grief and regret was one of the strongest connections between them.

Side Note: I genuinely do not think DiAngelo needed to kill Craig’s mom. Regardless of how she treated Rona, it is a huge red flag to me when an MMC has no boundaries when it comes to women and children. Physically, he is more powerful, so I just do not see why that was necessary. There are other ways to punish someone, and I do not think that moment was crucial to the plot. It felt like she was added for unnecessary drama. Up until then, I just viewed her as a grieving mother who was lashing out over the loss of her son, so expanding it further in that direction felt random.
I think the best parts of this book were:

1. Bonnie 🥹 She was adorable, and the fact that she loved being cute and getting her nails painted pink made her even better. Truly the best guard dog. She carried this book.

2. Isa!!! She was such a good friend and honestly exactly what Rina needed. She encouraged her to go to therapy and actually seek help, which felt so important because nobody else in her life had really told her that she did not have to handle everything alone.

3. The shared grief between Terina and DiAngelo. I think that was the strongest emotional aspect of the story because both of them were trying to survive while carrying immense guilt and self hatred. They understood each other in that way more than anyone else could.

Still, I wanted more depth between them outside of attraction and possessiveness. A lot of the relationship felt rooted in jealousy, lust, and territorial behavior. I understood why they were drawn to each other, but I was not fully convinced by them.

❤️.¸✿¸.•💌•.❀•OVERALL •❀.•💌•.¸✿¸.❤️

THE ENDING… JAW DROPPED. That is how you keep me hooked for the next book 😭

Hunter's Keep by Jill Ramsower

3/5 stars

Hunter's Keep is the third book in The Moretti Men series. I didn't read the first two because this one was advertised as a standalone. The blurb and tropes really drew me in. But unfortunately I quickly found out I should have read the first two books first. I missed so much connection with the secondary characters and the overall storyline. A continuous storyline is woven through all three books, so if you are thinking about reading this one on its own please don't. Start at the beginning. I think I would have loved this book a lot more if I read the first two books as well. So please read this series in its entirety and know that my rating is based on this book as a standalone and not as part of a series.

Hunter's Keep is the story of DiAngelo and Terina. Terina is part of a mafia family and due to family business she is in danger. Her brother Renzo arranges a bodyguard for her. He entrusts her to his best friend DiAngelo and he knows for certain he will keep her safe.

But the second they are near each other old feelings come rushing to the surface and both are intricately drawn to one another. D tries to keep his distance but when he spots Rina in an intimate moment everything changes.

Their attraction burns only brighter and jealousy courses through their veins.

But this book isn't only about the present. It is also about DiAngelo's past and how he lost his twin brother at the tender age of 17. And Rina is still dealing with the loss of her husband after he passed away a year after their marriage. We follow their journey as youngsters and see how those two events still affect them in present day life.

Hunter's Keep is a slow burn and while I liked the story. I didn't fall head over heels in love with it. In the beginning I had no clue who the secondary characters were and I didn't fully grasp the storyline that was set up in the first two books. I must admit I didn't really enjoy the flashbacks as much as I wanted to. Some were fun and added something to their storyline but others felt a bit out of place and unsuited to the overall storyline.

So if you have read the first two books then I am convinced this will be at least a four star read for you. But because I didn't and didn't fully grasp the storyline it was only a 3 star book for me. Still a fun read. But I expected so much more. And I really think the publisher/author needs to remove the notion that it can be read as a standalone to avoid any disappointments in other readers.

So 3 stars overall from me for Hunter's Keep! ♥ And I might come back to this review and re-edit it if I have read the first two books in the future. And see if I connect more with it then, when I fully understand the complete story of the Moretti family.

HUNTER’S KEEP is the third instalment in Jill Ramsower’s contemporary, adult THE MORETTI MEN erotic, Mafia romance series, a spin off, set in the author’s Byrne Brothers and Five Families worlds. This is Mafia Capo DiAngelo Farina, and Terina Donati-Kirkland’s story line. HUNTER’S KEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (DiAngelo and Terina) HUNTER’S KEEP follows in the wake of threats against our story line heroine. Approximately twenty years earlier DiAngelo Farina lost his twin brother Elio to a blackmailer, leaving a grieving DiAngelo and his family in its’ wake. Presently, and five years earlier Terina’s husband was murdered but the Donati family refused to tell Terina the truth, and in the aftermath Terina uncovered her husband’s secrets and lies. Fast forward to present day, Terina is targeted, DiAngelo has been assigned as guardian and protector but as the days and weeks pass, someone is taking aim at the Donati family.

The world building follows several pathways including Terina’s guilt and grief about the death of her husband ; DiAngelo’s grief in the wake of his brother’s murder, and the search for an assassin who has been hired by the Russian Bratva.

The relationship between DiAngelo and Terina is a best friend’s sister, protector relationship. DiAngelo is best friends with Terina’s brother Renzo, and works for the family ‘business’. DiAngelo has kept his distance but protecting our heroine brings our couple up close and personal, and when the truth is revealed, Terina is ready to move on with her life. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and determined, many of whom were introduced in the author numerous interconnected series. We are introduced to DiAngelo’s parents, as well as Terina’s best friend Isa, and the return of Terina’s brother Tommaso ‘Tommy’ Donati, Renzo and Shae (Craving Chaos 5) and their mother Azzurra. The requisite evil has many faces.

HUNTER’S KEEP is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is edgy, dramatic and captivating; the romance is seductive ; the character are forceful, desperate, dynamic and animated. HUNTER’S KEEP ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Book 3 in The Moretti Men Series

5⭐️ 4🌶️

❥dom/sub Introduction
❥forced proximity
❥heroine in danger
❥mafia romance {lite}

Jill Ramsower….okay, okay, I see you girl! This was my first read by Jill Ramsower and I can promise you it will not be my last! I was hooked from the first page until the very last page of the extra bonus scene, I could not put it down, it owned me. DiAngelo Farina - my sweet, loyal, possessive, morally grey grumpy mafia guy who has been tasked by his best friend and mafia boss Renzo to protect his sister because there is a clear threat towards him and his family including his sister. Terina “Rina”- our fierce, strong very independent mafia princess who is very set in her ways and is set her life very scheduled is not on board with having a bodyguard. She is very guarded and keeps people at an arms length. Both DiAngelo and Rina have a traumatic past that keeps them both guarded: DiAngelo, dealing with the death of his twin brother and Rina, dealing with the death of her husband. Both blame themselves for what happened to their loved ones, which is the reason why they are both as guarded as they are, both feel like love and loving someone is a weakness that could get that individual killed, but the issue is that they cannot deny that they are attracted to each other and that there is a spark there that they cannot deny! When a threat hits too close to home towards Rina, DiAngelo decides to move her into his pace to better keep her protected, I mean what could possibly go wrong?

❥”Why do you call me that? Why firefly?”
“Because you’re my light in the darkness”.

The chemistry between DiAngelo and Rina is off the wall and when those walls come down for the both of them - chef’s kiss! The third book in the Moretti Men series and Hunter’s Keep, is a slow-burn mafia romance built around a bodyguard/protectee dynamic with a slight age gap. The story follows DiAngelo Farina as he finds himself falling for Terina, his best friend’s and boss’s widowed sister after being tasked with protecting her from potential Bratva retaliation after events of in the previous book. When he moves her into his apartment for safety, their forced proximity just serves to intensify the growing tension between them, until it reaches a level that neither of them can ignore, no matter how hard DiAngelo tries to fight it.

This was an emotionally charged read, packed with drama. The characters are well developed, and the pacing, along with the spice level, is well balanced, making it an engaging read. The chemistry between DiAngelo and Rina leans into a clear Dominant/submissive dynamic, with DiAngelo’s dirty mouth adding a bit of bite to the romance. Rina’s backstory adds significant emotional weight, particularly her struggles with self-harm following her husband’s death, a loss she wrongly blames herself for and something that is reinforced by her toxic mother-in-law at every opportunity. In reality though, her family’s ‘business’ had played no part in her husband’s death. Instead, it had stemmed entirely from his own dangerous choices, the knowledge of which, her family had tried to shield her from. DiAngelo, meanwhile, carries his own heavy guilt after losing his identical twin Elio, who was killed when he swapped places with a hungover DiAngelo, an event that eventually led to him serving time in time, and changing the course of his life and this author does a solid job of layering both characters histories into the story with chapters moving between past and present, enriching their development.

While the book touches on heavier themes like guilt and the ensuing impact it can have on mental health, overall, it remains a relatively easy read – something the author aptly describes as ‘mafia lite.’ Lighter moments add humour and help balance the tone, particularly through Rina’s corrupting influence on DiAngelo’s Rottweiler, Bonny. Named after a supposed pirate, Bonny quickly sheds her tough, big dog image after spending a couple of hours with Rina and decides she’s very much a ‘girly’ kind of dog, much to DiAngelo’s disgust and irritation. Although the story concludes with a happy ending for Rina and DiAngelo, it still manages to end on a dramatic ‘WTF’ cliffhanger that sets up perfectly for the next book.

Another fantastic installment in the Moretti Men series by Jill! This book continues with the family and friends of the Moretti family, with this installment following Renzo's sister Terina (Rina) and his right-hand man and friend, Di'Angelo (D). The family is now dealing with the fall out of a rival family's payback threats. Renzo (Family Head) needs to protect his own, which includes his sister. So he assigns his closest guy, Di'Angelo to protect and be her bodyguard until the threats are neutralized.

The dynamic between Rina and D is electric from the beginning. He's the Alpha Hero Bodyguard and she is a Feisty Mafia Daughter! She is suffering with history from her past that has her dealing with a lot of emotional trauma. She doesn't want to see anyone else hurt because of her, so at first she wants to distance herself from D. Di'Angelo is years older than Rina and has a equally emotional past that he can't seem to forgive himself for and this causes him to be extra protective of Rina. The attraction between the two is undeniable and pretty damn hot!!

I absolutely loved this story of Rina and D, it has a lot of emotion, action, trauma healing and cameos from some of your Favorite Moretti couples. While you can read this book as a standalone, it is interconnected to the previous 3 books...so I highly recommend reading them as well at some point to see the story of the other couples. The thing I love about Jill's Light Mafia romances is the MMC's are tough and hard, but soft and loving to their FMC's. You get equal measures of Mafia world drama but the amazing and loving dynamics with the MC's. Please note, this particular story has some strong mental health topics, please read your TW's before diving in. The author does a wonderful job with her characters and the topics they deal with in the story.

I am very much reeling from the CLIFFHANGER Jill leaves us in. This is not a normal occurrence in the Moretti books, but she assures us the next book will fix it all and soon! I am waiting on pins and needles for the next installment! The spice in this book is HOTTT and I give it at 2.5 to 3 spice rating! Thank you to Jill Ramsower and Valentine PR for the gifted e-ARC of this book. I loved it and these are my own thoughts and review!

"why do you call me that? why firefly?"
"because you're my light in the darkness."

i liked this. it was a pretty easy read, but it didn't give me the feeling of never wanting to put it down. this follows DiAngelo Farina and Terina Donati, and is a mafia, bodyguard, brother's best friend romance, and is their forbidden love story filled with a plethora of emotions. i will say though, to please check your triggers before diving into this one, as there are minor depictions and mentions of self harm, death of a loved one, grieving, and more. it also is a dark romance, so violence is to be expected. i do think this is a good start for those who want to start dipping their toes into dark romance (again, check your triggers!) also the book isn't long to the point where it feels like it's dragging—it was the perfect length in my opinion.

i liked how DiAngelo was so accepting of Rina despite everything she hid from the light of others, and how much of a safe haven he was for her. i also really enjoyed his overprotectiveness (maybe i am the problem) over Rina because that man was down bad for her. like pathetically down bad (i love man like this sighhhh). i also liked how Rina was able to overcome all her guilt over everything she's been through (with the help of DiAngelo of course), and be happier than she has in years.

however, there obviously were some things that bothered me that i couldn't ignore. like yes, i understand that Rina had been through a lot, and felt a lot of guilt for what happened because she believed she was at fault—i am not minimizing her feelings and making it seem like it wasn't a big deal, bc if i were in her shoes, i would probably feel the same way too, buuuuut i felt like it was excessive in how she was constantly like "oh DiAngelo is going to 💀 because of me" "i can't let him do this" when it's literally his job as her bodyguard. homegirl was letting her feelings get in the way of that man doing his damn job !

i realized i've lowkey ranted (sorry not sorry), but i still want to thank valentine pr for the arc 💌 i did like the book enough that i would recommend it (in certain circumstances of course), but this does release on may 6th, 2026, so i hope y'all like it when y'all read it!

Terina and DiAngelo absolutely OWNED me. Jill Ramsower seriously never misses for me and at this point I would read her grocery list if she published it 😭🖤 Her books are always my comfort obsession and Hunter’s Keep just reminded me why.

This book had EVERYTHING I love packed into it like some dangerous little mafia gift basket. Bodyguard romance? YES. Age gap? YES. Touch her and die energy so intense I could practically hear the growling through my kindle? ABSOLUTELY YES 🫠

DiAngelo Farina was unreal. That man is all sharp edges, control, loyalty, and deadly calm until it comes to Terina. Then suddenly every scene feels charged like a thunderstorm about to crack open. He’s ruthless to everyone else but so patient and protective with her and I melted every single time he took care of her without trying to “fix” her. He just stood there like an immovable wall saying mine and honestly I folded immediately.

And Terina 😭 my heart broke for her. The guilt she carries after losing her husband felt so heavy and real. Watching her slowly heal and rediscover herself through trust, vulnerability, and surrender was honestly beautiful. I loved that she wasn’t portrayed as weak at all. She survived. She fought. She learned to let someone stand beside her instead of carrying everything alone.

The chemistry between them was INSANE. Not just hot either, though trust me it absolutely was 🥵 but deeply emotional too. Every touch felt important. The power exchange elements were written so well and with so much trust woven into it that it made the relationship feel even more intimate. DiAngelo teaching her to let go of control while being completely safe with him??? Yeah my soul left my body.

And the tension!! The danger from the Russian mob, the constant feeling that something bad could happen at any moment, the protective instincts kicking into overdrive… I devoured this book. Jill writes mafia romance in a way that feels dark and dangerous without losing the emotional heartbeat underneath it all.

Honestly this book wrapped around my throat in the best way possible and refused to let go. Emotional healing, obsessive protection, aching romance, explosive chemistry, and a hero that would burn the world down for her?? Inject it directly into my veins.

“𝙎𝙚𝙚, 𝙄 𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝘿𝙞𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙤.”
..the way this line had me jumping to my feet in disbelief!!!

EXCUSE ME!!! Ma'aaaaam... I invested so much emotion into this book, only for you to pull THAT at the END!!??, I was dumbfounded and speechless. I had to reread the next line like six times to make sure I wasn't imagining things.

What do you mean the REAPER??!! I'm gonna leave it at that and right there!

Now let's talk about DiAngelo Farina! That man is exactly who he thinks he is!!!
I'm not even going start on his mouth because it can only be described as filthy. He's unhinged, possessive, and everything that makes me obsessed with him. Not to mention emotionally available...vulnerable DiAngelo had me in a puddle and soft for him.

I'm not even going touch too much on Rina, because that woman deserves all the happiness and everything good in this world. She's sweet, selfless, adorable, and so caring. She just needed someone to understand and love her despite her flaws. Thank God her brother’s best friend was right there also waiting for a woman like her to remind him what love is.

The tension❤️‍🔥

The plot twists, the romance, the spice and everything was chef's kiss. Perfect read for dark mafia romance lovers who fancy a good bodyguard romance.

✨️“This is where I belong. You’re mine, firefly. All fucking mine.”
✨️I want DiAngelo. Period.  And I want DiAngelo to want me. Every broken piece of me.
✨️“Little firefly, you want this. I know you do. The way your body responds to me—there’s no faking that.”
✨️I belong with Terina.
✨️“I’m saying you’re mine, and I’ll bleed this city dry until you’re safe.”
✨️“Like it or not, Rina, I’m your new shadow. You won’t take a single breath without my knowledge. Not a whimper … or a moan.”
✨️I wanted to kill him and kiss him in the same breath.

Hunter’s Keep by Jill Ramsower is the 3rd in The Moretti Men series. This is a mafia, bodyguard romance with two people, Terina and DiAngelo, both carrying their own grief and guilt from the past.

Five Years ago, Terina’s husband was killed leaving her widowed, traumatized and drowning in guilt. Now, she isolates herself and avoids relationships and the Russian mob comes after her. What they want she doesn’t know, she only knows she’s in danger. Her older brother steps in and assigns his best friend, DiAngelo, to protect her. DiAngelo carries his own grief, blaming himself for losing his twin brother after they had swapped places one day. But maybe because of his grief, DiAngelo is intimidating, fiercely loyal and lethal when necessary. He lives by his Mafia oath, he does not bend, he does not negotiate, he vows: “Anyone who touches her dies.”

DiAngelo brings Terina to Hunter’s Keep, a secure Moretti estate used for protection. Terina sees it as a prison, DiAngelo sees it as the only way to keep her alive. The tension, resistance and simmering chemistry between them is front and centre. Terina pushes back, DiAngelo pushes harder. Terina’s guilt over her husband’s death is deeper than anyone knows. DiAngelo sees the cracks in her armour. He becomes patient, grounding, steady, quietly protective. He refuses to let her drown in guilt. When danger comes knocking on the door, DiAngelo becomes feral level protective, he stays close, always between her and danger. Terina realizes DiAngelo isn’t just protecting her out of duty, he’s protecting her because he cares.

Terina and DiAngelo’s journey has emotional trust as the core of the romance. DiAngelo is your ruthless protector/bodyguard who teaches Terina how to trust, how to let go of fear, how to surrender emotional control, how to feel safe in vulnerability. Terina discovers a side of herself she never knew existed. A part that finds comfort in structure, guidance, and emotional surrender. Ultimately, Terina could walk away, but she chooses DiAngelo the man who protected her, challenged her, helped her heal, taught her to trust again whilst DiAngelo claims her openly. Whilst Terina and DiAngelo find their HEA, we are left with a huge dangling carrot/cliffhanger for the next book!!!!

Hunter’s Keep is the third book for The Moretti Men series. Terina’s husband was killed five years ago. Her family never told her the truth about why. Ever since then she has been grieving. She feels ashamed because she blames herself for his death since she has a powerful family. She doesn’t know anything and just guesses that he was threatened because of her. She tries to live her life as much as she can. She does yoga, she visits her best friend but she is constantly reminded of the dangers of the mafia world. When her life is threatened, her brothers Renzo (Craving Chaos) and Tommy (Death’s Favor) suggest a bodyguard. They need someone they trust. Renzo chooses his best friend DiAngelo. Terina is scared because she does not want anyone else to die. She refuses him but she doesn’t tell them why she doesn’t want a bodyguard.

DiAngelo has known Terina for a while. He’s always seen her as Tommy and Renzo’s sister. However now that she’s grown up he is starting to notice her. She tends to get under his skin. She is really stubborn and reckless. The moment he takes the job, she wants to go into the town. He thinks she’s throwing a tantrum not knowing she’s worried for his safety. He takes his job seriously and vows to protect her. He has his reasons. He also tries to keep her at arms length and keep it professional. However, they have amazing chemistry and that tension is about to snap any moment.

Jill Ramsower had me feeling so bad for Terina. All this time feeling guilty that she is the reason her husband died never knowing the truth. I felt bad how she wants DiAngelo but was so scared he was next to die. I also felt bad for DiAngelo. I love that we got to see a more vulnerable side to him but his past was so sad. I loved seeing them together. Their scenes were hot. I also loved all the cameos. It’s amazing when we see previous characters from other books. This was very emotional. It is filled with action, danger, heat, secrets, suspense, and crazy shocking twists. I was definitely on the edge of my seat and I yelled with that epilogue! I am so excited for the next book!

This one pulled me in from the very first page and never let go. Hunter’s Keep by Jill Ramsower is the kind of story that wraps tension, emotion, and heat together in a way that feels completely addictive and impossible to put down.

Terina’s story hit me right in the heart. The weight of her past, the grief she carries, and that quiet guilt she tries so hard to bury all feel incredibly real. You can feel how deeply she wants to protect herself from ever experiencing that kind of loss again, and that emotional layer adds so much depth to everything that unfolds. Watching her slowly confront her fears and rediscover parts of herself she never knew existed was powerful and beautifully done.

And then there is DiAngelo. He is everything you want in a bodyguard alpha hero. Protective to the point of obsession, unapologetically dominant, and fiercely loyal. His presence alone commands attention, but what made me love him even more was the way his hardness softens around Terina. That “touch her and die” energy is strong with this one, and it delivers every single time.

The dynamic between them is intense in the best way. The push and pull, the resistance, the undeniable chemistry… it all builds into something that feels both emotional and electrifying. The introduction to BDSM is handled with care and intention, and it becomes a meaningful part of Terina’s growth rather than just a plot device. Their connection evolves into something rooted in trust, healing, and vulnerability, which made their journey even more satisfying.

I also loved the balance of danger and romance. The mafia element adds that edge of suspense without overshadowing the relationship, and the pacing keeps everything moving while still giving the emotional moments space to breathe.

By the end, I was completely invested in their story and that HEA felt so well earned. This book is intense, emotional, and full of chemistry, with characters that stay with you long after you finish.
If you love a protective alpha, emotional healing, and a romance that burns slow before igniting, this is absolutely one you need on your list.
