Davin Havermak is a Coterie Airborne Angel, an elite search and rescue operator. After a long, two-year tour helping victims of sky pirate attacks, he’s finally on his way back to his peaceful little apartment, far away from the ravages of war. With less than one day left on his journey, the passenger skyship he’s on is attacked and crashes.

He is one of eight unlikely survivors, and together, they unite in a common get home. But a dense jungle wilderness sprawls all the way to civilization. Water is scarce. Predators are abundant. No help is coming. And pirates hunt them.

To everyone’s surprise, one of the pirates turns out to be Davin’s ex-girlfriend, Pheo. She claims she was forced into fighting for the pirates and wants to escape with them. Davin is the only one who believes her. He tries to keep the group moving forward and help his old flame, but division and distrust abound. As the journey turns perilous and infighting pushes the survivors to the breaking point, Davin begins to realize that Pheo will either be their salvation or their doom.
