This book is the 2nd book in the Deadly Justice series and does contain significant spoilers of book 1 (Death Follows Her), so I definitely recommend reading this series in order. All of the main characters are back for this book - agents Samira Haddad and Jalen Smith and attorney Quinn Kelly, and the stakes are once again high. When Quinn finds one of her associates brutally murdered, the FBI is called in to investigate as it seems Quinn is once again central to the killer. The relationships in this book are continued from the prior book as well, so there is a building of rapport and character growth that is good to follow.

This book included a page-turning suspenseful story-line, familiar strong female leads and a mystery that kept me guessing. There were a few twists along the way and once again the ending was left open. Not a cliffhanger, so to speak, but still open-ended. This one was what I would call "faith-light". Faith is mentioned in passing, and was included more than in book 1, but is still not an integral part of the plot. Though not as significant as book 1, there is reference in this book as well to sexual assault and rape, so if those are triggering, this book may be an issue for you, though there are no real details provided. All in all, this was an enjoyable legal suspense novel and I look forward to seeing what happens next! Special thanks to the author for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was not required to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Secrets Chase Her, by Rachel Dylan, is book 2 in the Deadly Justice Series. While it can be read as a stand alone book, I do recommend reading book 1 first as this one continues on with most of the main characters and their continuing relationships.
It begins as well known defense attorney, Quinn Kelly, finds her assistant, Abbie, brutally raped and murdered by a serial killer. FBI agents Samira Haddad, Jalen Smith and Supervisory Special Agent, Wyatt Turner are quick to be assigned to the case due to Quinn’s involvement. Meanwhile, Quinn is being blackmailed by rich and powerful tech guru, Remy Brown, to be his defense attorney in a criminal case. Quinn has never worked a criminal case before, but she has no choice. Plus, she also is determined to find Abbie’s murderer, and make sure justice is served. She soon discovers that he/she may be after her friends, and Samira could be in danger!
You will find yourself immediately drawn into this book of suspense, thrills, mystery, danger and intrigue. Be advised that if you are triggered by gruesome details, rape, murderers and stalkers then this book may not be for you. Ms Dylan keeps the book clean though, and faith is briefly addressed. I do recommend this book, especially if you love mystery murders. Once again the author delivers a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing!

Thank you Rachel Dylan for allowing me to be apart of this launch team, what a ride!
Secrets Chase Her by Rachel Dylan
Quinn Kelley, a high powered attorney has just come off of a winning streak when she discovers that her assistant and friend of many years, has been murdered. Allie has always been responsible and responsive, so when she did not pick up when Quinn called her or return her calls & texts she decided she needed to go check on her  because she was annoyed and worried at the same time not knowing what she may find. Her worst nightmare.
While Quinn is dealing with the loss of Allie, she finds out that a woman she had helped through the Domestic Violence Clinic has been murdered & she has a tech mogul who has been accused of killing his partner, insisting she has to be his attorney even though she does not and has never done criminal law. When she tells him no, he blackmails her with something that she cannot have coming out in the press. Because then she would be arrested by FBI Special Agent Samira Haddad.
Special Agent Samira Haddad has gotten to know Quinn over the last year and she has always felt that Quinn has good in her despite what she knows Quinn has done. And Quinn finds herself wanting to try to be better. This story is ultimately about being there when someone needs you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and frankly I want more!!

(Note: there are a few spoilers ahead for those who did not read the book that precedes Secrets Chase Her. Stop here and go read it first.)

I liked Rachel Dylan’s suspense novel Death Follows Her, the first book in the Deadly Justice series, I REALLY liked book 2, Secrets Chase Her. The two main characters — FBI agent Samira and attorney Quinn — have a very unique relationship. After Samira spends most of book 1 trying to find evidence that Quinn is a serial killer, the two women develop a unique friendship. Of sorts. If it sounds complicated, it is. These characters are complex and well-developed. Samira has been ordered to let go of investigating Quinn, but when Quinn’s associate is brutally murdered, Samira is in on that case as well. There is a stalker, an arrogant, maybe homicidal IT executive, and assorted FBI agents that impact the storyline. There are also so many I-did-not-see-that-coming moments that it was hard to catch my breath! This is suspense at its best. Plus, there’s a cliffhanger at the end. I cannot wait until book 3, Truth Betrays Her, comes out in April of 2027.

Highly Recommended.

Audience: Adults.

This is book two of Rachel Dylan's Deadly Justice series. This is definitely a series you'd have to read in order so you could understand the relational dynamics.

Rachel Dylan knows how to write a courtroom thriller. I love reading her books because she's a lawyer, and she knows how to write an intriguing courtroom drama. This had me on the edge of my seat, trying to figure things out. I never can, but that doesn't stop me from trying, and I'm always shocked and dismayed by the truth.

The twists and turns, even the ending, were superb, and opened the door for book 3, which I'm all in for.

If you've read book one of the Deadly Justice series, you have to read this next installment.

Author Rachel Dylan hooked me in the first chapter of Secrets Chase Her and kept me ensnared through the end of the book with her thrilling tale of murder and suspense. This book can be read as a standalone but will be a richer experience by reading the first book in the Deadly Justice series, Death Follows Her. After all, why deny yourself the reading pleasure? The friendship between FBI Agent Samira Haddad and lawyer/vigilante justice serial killer Quinn Kelly is very unique, especially since Samira knows that Quinn is a murderer, but has been unable to prove it. This plot is filled with twists and turns. There were many "I didn't see that coming" thoughts from this reader. I definitely plan to read the next book in this series and would happily read more by this author.
I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of this exciting and well-written novel.

Book #2 Secrets Chase Her - again the title fits the story so well.
There is so much I want to say but can’t say because I won’t spoil it for other readers. So many thoughts and emotions. Dylan’s imagination has challenged my reading habits!
While this series isn’t like others I tend to recommend I am fascinated by the creativity and perspectives it brings. If you want something different with a bit of mystery be sure to start with book #1.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

FBI agent Samira is the law, Quinn, a high powered attorney skirts the law with her brand of justice. They have a complicated relationship. Samira knows but can't prove Quinn's crimes but is determined to turn her away from "dealing" with the bad guys.
Quinn is being blackmailed by a wealthy tech guy and when her friend is killed, she teams up with Samira to solve this twisty murder.
Samira also has a possible love interest with Pete. But they must keep their feelings muted because of the case.

I loved this wonderful tale filled with mystery and suspense. I loved Quinn and Samira. I love that they are alike but quite different. I loved all of the twists and turns that lead to a surprise at the end. I recommend that one reads the first book in this series before this one or you will be a bit confused. I received a copy of the book and gave an honest opinion.

I picked this one at random and really raced through it. I should've read the first book in the series, but I'll go back to that one next. Sometimes you just want a fun, fast read and this author delivers. Highly recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in this series by Rachel Dylan. Secrets Chase Her is a great follow-up to Death Follows Her. I would recommend reading the first book before reading this one. I was so intrigued by the twists and turns in the first book. This book continues that trend.

Dylan takes the reader on a fast-paced ride through the continuation of lawyer, Quinn Kelly’s unique story. Whatever you think you’ve figured out in the first book might be turned on its head in the second book. I was kept on the edge of my seat from first page to last. I cannot wait to read the next book to find where this ride will take me.

If you enjoy suspense involving FBI agents and a bit of a legal thriller this would be a series for you.
