I really enjoy listening to Hoaxilla and was looking forward to this book. The cover illustrated by Sarah Burrini is eye-catching and fitting.
Unfortunately, the content of the book is so-so. As explained in the foreword, the purpose of the accompanying story is not simply to publish a best-of of the podcast in book form. Although this is a nice idea, I found it very uninteresting and didn't pay much attention to it after a few chapters.
Sadly, some of the topics in the chapters are also dealt with very briefly. Sure, there are topics where you can say more or less, but depending on the topic, it really leaves a lot to be desired. Instead of the frame story, I would have liked more topics, which could have been shorter, as the overall package would have been more interesting.
Perhaps the book is more suitable for people who don't know Hoaxilla that well yet and want to get a first insight into the topics of the podcast. For die-hard fans, however, it might be a little disappointing as it doesn't have much new or in-depth to offer.
