When the Pines Howl: A Paranormal Romance Novella

Rate this book
She came to the woods to heal.
She found a haunting silence.
And him.

Teka came to the isolated Copper's Pass Sanctuary searching for quiet, hoping to escape the ghosts of her past. But the silence here is too full, too watchful. The lynx won't eat. The forest doesn't sing. And something dangerous hunts beneath the pines.

Nathan, the sanctuary's guarded and enigmatic caretaker, gives her warnings that sound more like promises. As the line between the natural and supernatural begins to blur, Teka is pulled into a hidden world of magic, monsters, and a connection that defies everything she thought she knew.

This slow-burn paranormal romantasy novella is a standalone story but introduces the world of The Shadow Concord, where grief is a tether, love is a risk, and the woods remember everything.

this book was incredibly delicious ❣️ I could not put it down until every page was read, and I am so excited to see what happens next. also for those who don't know me, I only rate 5 stars if it's a book so good I want in my personal library. this book is one of those.

I was honored by Jazzmyn Wolfe to arc read this book, and it did not disappoint.

Teka comes to Copper's Pass Wildlife Sanctuary to escape her past, and to help a lynx. what she found was Nathan, a broody man who didn't express much. They start a slow burn romance, and what I really enjoy about this novella is that it's more about the journey rather than the destination with these two.

I also really love how Wolfe captures the woods, which are a whole separate character by themselves. the way the air is, how the fog engulfes the trunks. I haven't gone many books that can really capture the nature as much as this book did.

Then the drama: Nathan's past comes up, and together he and Teka figure out how to help instead of hinder. Teka has a huge choice to make, stay with Nathan or go back to her old life.

If you like fantasy romance, slow burn, and a nail biting page turner this books for you!

Teka and Nathan made the perfect characters fit this amazing story. Teka finds herself at an animal sanctuary, but what she finds is so much more. Nathan isn't a talkative kind of guy and Teka isn't sure what to think of him. "Stay on the path, never leave the trails, don't wander at night."
Teka sees and hears strange things, leaving her startled and afraid. But she pushes forward, determined not to let things spook her.
She never saw what was coming!
Am absolute page turner! I wanted more, I needed more. This story grabbed me from the beginning. It kept me drawn in. The originality of this makes me want to keep going with Teka and Nathan. I want to continue on the journey with them.
Very well written. I was so engrossed, I didn't want this book to end.

‘When the Pines Howl’ feels like I’m standing on the sidelines watching all these events that unfurl in a very believable way—like a fluidly moving through thickened water. ‘WtPH’ is a nice foundation for The Shadow Concord series. Where many questions are answered, I’m still left with questions only book 1 will bring answers to.

REALLY enjoyed this book!

I’ve never read Jazzmyn Wolfe before and I’ll definitely be following her to see what else she writes. This book did not disappoint. Love the paranormal aspect and the story line, it keeps you engaged and steady turning pages . Teka herself has a lot of background information to discover before she gets to Nathan that’s important to understand before the more intense parts of tge story start to unfold. Loved the way there are more secrets about the characters that stay unspoken throughout. I definitely recommend this book

Finding closure

When Teka arrived at the wildlife sanctuary, she noticed the odd stillness, no sounds in the forest. That was just the beginning. I liked how the story slowly developed and everything came together by the end of the story. I liked this world and look forward to reading more with the characters I met in this book.
