Sadie Vaughn knows all about heartbreak. Her heart is so fractured that she has walls built up around it thick enough to keep everyone out, which means at least she won’t get hurt again. When her roommate, Henley, takes her on a tour of her new campus, Sadie literally falls into the arms of a devastatingly handsome stranger. She tries to ignore the feelings that have been awakened in her, but when she meets him again, she realizes she’s losing the battle. To make matters worse, the brooding boy in the back row of her literature class stops her heart and makes it beat faster at the same time, even when he completely ignores her. She had all intentions of focusing on her studies and refusing relationships, but she finds herself in situations where she is unable to help herself. Her past may have created the fears, but now she must decide if she is going to face them.

Apparently this book has been out awhile but was never on my radar. There were some bad reviews that almost deterred me from giving this a shot..... that would have been a HUGE mistake.
I loved this book. Absolutely loved it. I did not want this story to end. I felt so connected to all these characters, so involved in this story that I just wanted to wrap myself in the pages, implant myself into their fictitional lives and be a part of their story forever and ever.
I will forward you.... there is angst..... Lord is there ever angst. There is a bit of a love triangle. There is also so so so much more. However, if you don't like those things, this may not be the book for you. I am however, a gluten for punishment, and love this kind of storyline.
Sadie Vaughn has a lot of baggage..... A lot. She comes from a crap family, has suffered heartbreak, betrayal, and neglect and her heart bares the scars. Because of this she has built up walls and seems to be incapable of letting them down long enough to let anyone in. She is frustrating, aggravating, and for me relatable. However, as frustrating as she seems, she is equal parts fun, witty, snarky, and yes even courageous. I was aggravated with her plenty, but I loved her just the same. More than that I loved to watch and be a part of her growth and healing process.
Gavin..... oh Gavin. Favorite book boyfriend. He is truly amazing. I loved him. I love his humor, his confidence, but most of all his vulnerability. He is a catch!
I really want to do character synopsis on everyone in the book. They are all so great, but if I start then I will give away too much, and my friends you definitely need to enjoy all of the yummy goodness, twists, and turns for yourself.
This story really and truly is a story of love lost and found. Of finding oneself, and learning how to quit living on the edge of the cliff, and finally jump, even when it's scary.
I did. Page after page after page. What a waste of my time. The best character in the whole book.....Gavin. poor guy got shafted. So dissatisfied right now with this book I could cry. The ending took so long coming and was so disappointing it was ridiculous. I only read ever 20th page, reluctantly, and it still took too long for the ending to put me out of my ever loving misery.
This review has spoilers, so be aware... Ok. As much as I tried, I couldn't like the book's main female character...she was just WAY too wimpy for me to find any redeeming qualities. It was just too hard to believe her life was ruined by a childhood guy friend moving away...and that she never wanted to have another relationship, ever, because of her HS boyfriend being a jerk and ultimately cheating with her "best friend". Really?! #OverlyFragile. The "walls she built" were Sooo emphasized by the author, that it really was not believable that she also on the side was pouring out her life secrets to a guy she didn't really talk to at school, or even really know very well at all...AND the capper of this book's insanity is that she "just coincidentally" runs into her lost boy from childhood again at college, he's HOTT now...AND he pursues the Hella out of her...but she just wasn't that into him. C'mon...! Whatev.
This review was quite hard for me to write, I loved the book but I don’t want to give anything away from the story. Although I felt that once you start reading it, one of the big parts of the story was obvious, I don’t want to give away what happens.
This book follows Sadie as she finally gains some independence from her mother and her past. Sadie wants distance from the things that cause her to build walls, but the problem is that the past doesn’t go away, it can’t be avoided forever. Sadie moves in with Henley, who herself is a character. We are introduced to Henley’s friends at the beginning, and also a mysterious man. Sadie soon finds herself being pursued by Gavin, the guy who literally catches her before she falls.
Gavin is cocky when we first meet him, but he soon becomes this sweet guy, who you can’t help but fall in love with. Gavin makes it clear from the beginning that he is after Sadie and he isn’t going to stop until she agrees to go on a date with him. Sadie is closed off though, but even she can’t pretend the pull between them isn’t there. Gavin will do whatever he can to make her give it.
“I’m going to fight for you.”
The second guy in this story is the dark and brooding Jamie, he is similar to Sadie, he is closed off and doesn’t want to let his guard down. Sadie isn’t sure that she likes the hot and cold feelings from Jamie, but something can’t stop her from wanting to talk to him. Jamie has secrets, he has a past he is trying to escape from as well. Jamie is always putting others feelings before his own, he likes Sadie but he doesn’t feel that he is the right person for her. All he can offer is friendship.
“You deserve a man who makes your heart race in all the good ways, who will not hesitate to do everything he can for you.”
Sadie is trying her best to bring down her walls, let her guard down and be happy, but she finds herself not being able to open up to anyone but Jamie. She tells Jamie all the things that she never told anyone. Jamie becomes her go to person even though she has started a relationship with Gavin. Gavin is such a wonderful person in this book and the first date that he arranges for Sadie is EPIC, I smiled throughout that whole scene of the book.
Just when Sadie finally lets her guard down a betrayal makes her question everything she knew and she runs straight to the person that knows her. Lines get blurred, feelings get hurt, pasts come back to ruin the present and all you can do is sit back and watch it happen. I loved this book, it brings out all the emotions, I laughed, I got annoyed when she couldn’t see what was right in front of her and I even cried. There was a scene that just got me, it was emotional to read the feelings that were being shared. Well done Samantha Rey on a fantastic read.
I loved this book!!! Not gonna lie though I wish she had ended up with the other guy.. he is definitely one of my top 5 book boyfriends. Oh well.. can't wait to start the next book in the series!
This book just pulled and pulled on my heart. It was so so good. I just couldnt get enough and I didnt want it to end. Apparently this book has been out for over a year, I cant believe it hasnt been read by many people. Because its just so so good. The romance is amazing. The couples are just amazing. Everything about it is so amazing. This is a realistic fictional, new adult book. It has alot of angst, a love triangle, There is alot of back and forth to the love triangle. So If your not into that. This isnt the book for you. But if you want a really good romance, lovey dovey story. Please pick this up. Its just beautifully written. Easy to follow. Easy to fall in love with. I just absolutely loved it. Heartwarming and heart wrenching. I am excited to read on to the novella. Because I just loved the characters so much. I have to know what the other characters are up too. Just go and read this story, then review and tell people how much you love it. Because I just loved this story so so much.
This was a fun, crazy, and some times frustrating read. It's about a broken girl who finds two perfect guys that compliments her in different ways...the hard part, she has to choose one. I loved both of the male characters and am so glad I was not in her shoes. At different points I wanted her with the other guy. As hard and kinda sad as it was, I think she ended up with the right guy. Not to give anything away but it will drive you crazy and make you want to read more and quickly to figure out "who" is Carter. I will just leave it at that. I totally recommend this book! Well as long as you aren't one of those readers/reviews that pick a book to pieces cuz I guess the back and forth would upset or bug that type of reader. But it is suppose to be fun and an escape from reality and this book does that. I felt like I was right there watching it all happen and that's the best! So go, click this book and find out for yourself! Enjoy!

I'll be honest, this book drove. me. crazy. First of all, it was just too long with not enough substance. Sadie spent most of the book blaming everyone in her life for letting her down, including her best friend from when she was a kid who moved away without explanation. Other reviewers seemed to love Gavin, but I found him annoying too. He was cocky and the first date he took Sadie on was so cheesy. Without giving too much away, there were things about him that I couldn't get past and I was rooting for Sadie to not stay with him the entire time. With all of that being said, I loved Jamie. I'm a sucker for artsy guys and he was just so sweet and he just fit with Sadie. The idea that she may choose him is the only thing that kept me reading. I did skim over a lot with Gavin because it bored me, but I genuinely did like the ending.
I am so mad at you, Samanth Rey. How can I go on? I finished "Every Beat" and now my heart is broken. I have mixed feelings. I think I will go now and cry some more. I hate you!!!!. Not. This was an awesome and an emotional read. I am still kinda sad about what happened. Maybe it should be called "Every Second Beat" because my heart has stopped.
While reading this i was thinking I am going to give this a four because I wasn't all in it like I usually am but halfway through my heart was into even more but near the end of the book my heart just broke into a million pieces. I cried, I was mad and hurt. How could someone do that? Anyway, what an awesome ending although I was rooting for the other guy.

Is so hard to review this book. It was a well written book, but the plot line and characters fell short to my expectations. First of all, we have Sadie, who spent the majority of the story complaining about how everybody betrayed her or left her. And then we have Henley who is a new friend of Sadie, obnoxiously nosy. She wants to know everything, and she has no boundaries. Then we have two perfect male specimens. They´re both have great chemistry with her but one fight for her and the other one run from her, and she doesn't know each one she wants. So she stay with the one who fights for her until the other decides he wants to fight for her too, then she changes her mind and stay with the other one. It was annoying.
An emotional, heart-wrenching read .... While you seem to be rooting for Gavin and Sadie, suddenly you realize you are rooting for Jamie and Sadie. While Gavin was perfect for Sadie in every way, times changed and sometimes, you have to let go of your fears and embrace love and trust "safe" is not what you should be aiming for in love! The journey where Sadie learns this brings us to tears but it was a bold decision, from someone who shied away from getting hurt! Your heart breaks for Gavin (Carter), for Sadie and for Jamie ... But her heart is with Jamie and she chose to trust her heart!
I received this book for review from netgalley. It has been a while since I read a contemporary novel. I thought that this novel was cute, but not the greatest contemporary that I've ever read. I loved the dance aspects of it and the music that is tied it. It makes the story unique and special. There is a love triangle in this book and it was annoying how she legit could not make up her mind. The love triangle was really the only downside of this book. Overall is was a good contemporary novel.

I really like this book, it was not a 5 stars book, but close. It is a well written book, with a lot of feelings in and I could often see myself in Sadie. This book has me feeling so many different things, sad, happy and frustrated.
It's about a broken girl who finds two guys who both help heal her heart again and makes it beats faster...the hard part, she has to choose one of them. You root for each of the guys she loves and you understand why she chooses them, but in the end you know that she has pick the right guy.
Loved following Sadie through her time of self-discovery. I could relate to Sadie's apprehension of opening up to people & letting them in. Made me reminiscent for college, finding a true support system, growing up outside of family life and falling head-over-heels in love. She's a young girl with a lot to overcome, I thought Samantha Rey did a great job of making Sadie's plights relate-able, getting the reader to root for Sadie.
