I lived a long life. A life full of battles and survival. I waded through the fires of the ravished, the jungles of despair, and the plains of oblivion. The world had fallen, and one by one, my friends and family died. I was the last and was ready to accept the end. If I could go back and change the past, I would. I could make a real difference when the Gatestone first appeared. I could keep my sister alive, and I could train my party for the rifts and raids that would determine the fate of the world. Closing my eyes, I took my last breath. Only, I didn't stay dead...
Waking in the body of my eighteen-year-old self, I found my wish had come true. I only had one week before the fall began, and the system activated. There was a lot to do to prepare myself and my sister. I was going to do things right this time. I was going to be the one to close the Gatestone and seal away the darkness that claimed my past life.
If only I knew the trap for what it was.

This book started off well but quickly devolved. The author seems to be making it up as he goes along. Rather than allowing the plot to develop gradually, the author just throws different elements together in a chaotic mess. There are many elements from the game mechanics, to interpersonal interactions that just don’t mak sense .
This book has everything that it needs to be a great book but something is lacking or wrong. So I feel that the author had a list of what they thought makes a good book. They then implemented it in the exact order in which they listed it whether or not it made sense in the order of the book. Or maybe a series of vignettes that are collected into a story.
Well I’m 73% through the book and part of the mixup bits are explained. It is a bit to much deus ex machina for me.
The book get so much better and I really enjoyed it. I’m curious about where the storyline will go next.
This was a really good book and story. Lots of action, intrigue, magic, excitement and strategy made this a fun read. The characters were interesting, and even though this was set at the end of the world, it was still an interesting enough universe that it would be a fun place to visit and help out. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
I bought this book because it was on sale for $1 and I’m so glad I did! It’s a solid regressor story with a fresh take that grabs your attention and refuses to let it go!
Good hook and the storyline continued well. Very solid magical framework. I'd give the martial framework a C but its there and stays consistent. Story loses credibility with the love interest.
While the world building is interesting, and I don't mind an OP main character, both love interests have to obey his rules and basically do everything he wants. Very subservient etc. Will not be reading further.
