"It's fine. It's fine, Micchan. Everything's fine."
I was wondering what's the next focus of Wind Breaker will be, and it looks like it's gonna be Mitsuki Kiryu and his family (or maybe it's just a little side story). With Vol. 22 we got the opportunity to meet Mitsuki's sister and father - two of his different worlds coming from one family.
"Are you the only one living here?"
"Yup."
"What about your family?"
"They all live in the main house."
"Why are you living alone out here then?"
"Hmmm. I don't like the people living in that house."
You see, his father is a rich asshole who acknowledges only two of his kids, while the other two are constantly pushed down and criticized for everything. His sister on the other hand, is the sweetest person ever who is seen as a pushover by, well, everyone except for her brother, but is actually a stronger person than everybody combined.
"I don't want to go down the road the family and our father paved for me. I want to decide my life for myself. I want to make my own decisions. That's the only way I'll be satisfied with my life, whether I end up happy or not." [Akari]
The girl knows what she wants and what she wants is to be free - something she knows she will never have as long as she stays with her toxic family, that's why she works her ass off to make sure that she will get an opportunity to make her dreams come true, regardless of what other people will say about it.
"Okay, but how're things going with her?"
"Aah... I almost got her. Won't be long 'til you'll get some real fun."
Tell me, what do you think a guy would want to do with a girl after you heard him say something like this?? It's something I thought IMMEDIATELY not only after hearing him use these specific words, but also after seeing his creepy face. I was so scared for Akari's sake - everything could go very, VERY WRONG in a blink of an eye, but when the bad guys said what their real intent was, despite it still being wrong, I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. I am so glad that Akari's knights in shining armour showed up to fight for her. There are so many girls who have nobody to fight for them.
Anyways.
The most important thing for me that happened in this volume was Sakura's flashback scene. I couldn't believe my eyes!! It's something I was anticipating from, well, the very beginning of the story, and here we are!! It was only a glimpse, but its' message was quite clear. I knew that the truth will break my heart and, unfortunately, I was right. And I think I will also be right about the reason why things happened the way they happened :( Do I still want to know more? Of course. It's about Sakura after all, and I want to know everything about him, no matter how much it will break me. No matter how painful his past was, I am sure that his future will be brighter and happier, though. I believe in it wholeheartedly :)
I am jumping into the last (?) volume immediately, of course. Before I will end up my review, I just want to say that the determined (and sweaty) face of Kaji did something to me today 😳

Este volumen me lo leí hace un tiempo. Y me parece uno de los mejores honestamente. No solo porque desde el día 1 que me empecé el manga quería saber de personajes TAN principales como Kiryu, sino porque me parece super impredecible su Lore y, efectivamente, es uno de los mejores personajes de Wind breaker (a sorpresa de nadie).
Me encanta que tiene su casa llena de peluches y cosas súper monas y acogedoras. Bro tenía una casa para él solo😭🙏.
Lo de la hermana, la verdad me da penita y es triste, pero es real que también es de fuertes soportar tanto con tal de algún día poder escapar de estas cosas. Y la pelea, qué decir, es espectacular. Me meo con que Sakura sea una abuela chismosa y se meta en todos los fregados habidos y por haber.
La verdad mi parte favorita es cuando te ponen el Lore más devastador de un personaje que lleva siendo de los protagonistas como desde hace 20 volúmenes 😃

ADOROOOO ESTE ARCO. MI ARCO DE CONFORT, bueno todos los arcos después de la guerra son mi arco de confort, PERO ESTE——
Un arco de instrospección de Kiryu y su dupla con Sakura era algo que no sabía que necesitaba. La situación de su hermana me interpela muchísimo también, y aMBOS SON UN AMOR. TODOS EN WIND BREAKER SON UN AMOR.
Las pinceladas del pasado de Sakura realmente me hundieron el estómago, muestran poco pero dicen tanto, que se me rompe el corazón por mi niño. Me quedé como 5 minutos viendo cada panel donde su pasado se mostraba, pero wow, fue emocionante a la vez mirar a través de los ojos de Sakura, no solo ya a través de sus traumas sino ahora a través de sus experiencias. Me rompe el corazón ese estrés postraumático detonado por los gritos del padre de Kiryu, pero espero que en un futuro su corazón sea totalmente sanado por sus amigos como ya viene siendo.
¿Que si me sorprendió y a la vez emocionó que Kiryu fuera al primero a quien le dio un pequeño spoiler de su pasado? TOTALMENTE Y LO AMO. Amo la escena del piggyback, este dúo no sabía que lo necesitaba pero es precioso y ya quiero ver más de su vínculo en el futuro.
Recibes lo que das, Sakuraaa. Por eso estas recibiendo tanto amor del que te mereces. Y Kiryu, wow, un personaje con tantas capas que nunca me imaginé. No puedo esperar entonces por Suo, sé que esta historia no hará más que subir de nivel en cada tomo.
