Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Billy Lordy is a star on the campus of Undertown University, but there's a side of him the world doesn't know about.
While overindulging in drugs and women during his sophomore season, the quarterback struggles to pay off a debt owed to a group of Florida occultists.
Billy's past, present and future haunt him and it's only a matter of time before karma catches up in this David Lynch-esque supernatural thriller.
I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I finished this story earlier this month. It was a very quick read as it was just over 100 pages. The protagonist, Billy, has made a deal with Jinks in exchange for a stellar college football career. Billy is the leader of a group called the Swampos. Is Jinks the devil or one of his minions? Will Billy get out or become one of them? It was a familiar theme but well written.
Dark State is a great quick read. For only being a tad over 100 pages there is a lot going on making you want to read it again so you can validate just how good it really was. I won this great book on GoodReads and like I do with most my wins I will be paying it forward by giving it to a friend to enjoy before I add my autographed copy to my library.
