Like all Future's End one-shots, a bleak future hold for the hero, the Green Lantern named Hal Jordan.

Reading this issue reminded me of how I used to read Green Lantern voraciously, back when Geoff Johns was writing his adventures. I didn't carry over into the new 52 and let my readership lapse. When Rob Venditi started writing the Green Lantern books (part of the reason I dropped Green Lantern was that it morphed into a dozen books I had no interest of following) I was able to read an early story arc of his that introduced Relic, his survivor of an earlier universe. So basically, Venditi introduced Galactus into Lantern mythology.

So not to spoil the story, things ended bleakly for Hal Jordan but not without any hope of recovery. It's almost like a passing of a torch from Hal to Relic but this wouldn't happen anytime soon. Especially if what I heard was true that Venditi has become a Valiant exclusive writer. I guess, this is pretty much how Venditi would write the last Hal Jordan story.
