Belinda Lawrence and her best friend Hazel are about to join a tour of France. It’s an exciting tour following the travels of Henry James and Edith Wharton. It's a bit different than a typical tour ride and they can't wait to get started.
It’s a small group of travelers and it looks to be a beautiful journey. Then, tragedy strikes. One of the tour members is found dead. It looks like murder. Everyone in the group is a suspect. A dark cloud hangs over the group, but Belinda and Hazel are already wearing their amateur sleuth hats. They are determined to get to the bottom of this.
They quickly learn that this isn’t going to be easy to investigate. Another murder and strange happenings leave them truly puzzled.
I always enjoy a Belinda Lawrence mystery. This is ninth in the series. You don’t need to read the previous books as the mystery is contained and solved in this story. It reads well as a standalone as well as being part of a series. Still, it's more fun to read them all and get to know Belinda and her sidekick Hazel.
The story moves along at a nice pace and has everything I enjoy in a cozy mystery. From the setting of France to a cast of quirky characters to an intriguing plotline - this makes a captivating mystery. For me it felt like it had the makings of a classic Agatha Christie novel. A good old-fashioned mystery that keeps you on your toes. Just the way I like it.
Another entertaining adventure with Belinda and Hazel. A tale filled with murder, mischief, and marvelous characters. A wonderful way to spend an autumn night.
