Denver Police Detective Hilary Bonham has a knack for connecting with people—both inside the suspect interrogation room and out—but can her social demeanor help stop a twisted serial killer?

Back in the mid-nineties, the Mile High Ripper preyed on the most vulnerable victims—children. Identified only by his two West Highland White Terriers and his long black coat, he slipped through the hands of the Denver Police Department, roaming free despite his mounting list of abductions and murders. Several children were captured and killed, and yet somehow, one survived. Unimaginably traumatized, the now middle-aged woman cannot speak to anyone directly. She communicates only through an old Lamb Chop puppet, virtually glued to her hand for decades. But now, thirty years later, her tormentor is back, terrorizing the city once again…

As the Mile High Ripper captures and kills new victims—both familiar and random—Hilary must do her best to chisel down the walls of the most unlikely, unreachable victim…before yet another child dies at the hands of a monster.
