US Marshal Jack Dillon assigned to Dublin, Ireland police (An Garda Síochána) and his partner, DI Paddy Suel, finish a series of investigations. DCI McCabe, asks them to check with his niece who was dealing with a fraudster at the university where she is employed. They meet with McCabe's niece, Molly, who informs them that the fraudster isn't the problem. The problem is an individual who is raping her, and she has no where else to turn. Things go on from that point and she actually moves into Dillon's home for protection as they begin pursue the case. From there a wealthy and untouchable individual appears to be controlling the situation. Their investigation leads to a series of crimes but still the main character remains beyond reproach. Until an incident from a few years earlier suddenly comes to the forefront, the question is, will it be enough to arrest and charge...
I was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, I still live there as well as in Dublin, Ireland. I've been a soldier, freelance journalist, tended bar, sold designer cakes, owned a painting and decorating company along with a number of other schemes and scams. If that doesn't offend you I also play bagpipes with the Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band. All my books stand alone, read them in whatever order you wish. They are filled with the sort of oddballs we are all curious about, but wisely, prefer to keep at a distance. None of my characters will be saving the world from terrorism, international banking conspiracies or coups to take over the government. Rather, they inhabit a world just below the surface of polite society, characters with one foot on either side of the law. The circumstances they find themselves in are usually due to bad decisions, but bad decisions lead to interesting stories. They serve not so much as an example but as a warning to us all. Thanks for taking the time, happy reading.
US Marshal Jack Dillon assigned to Dublin, Ireland’s An Garda Síochána and his partner, DI Paddy Suel, finish a series of investigations. The promise of a break dematerializes when their boss, DCI McCabe, asks them to check with his niece who was dealing with a fraudster at the university where she is employed. His niece tells the pair a distressing story of being repeatedly raped by a wealthy individual who seems to be above the law. The investigation uncovers a wide swath of crimes, but the bad guy remains untouchable, until Dillon and Suel’s diligence pays off.
Don’t let the number put you off, the Dillon series is designed so it can be read out of order. The author does a good job of providing the necessary backstory so the reader doesn’t feel left out or lost.
While this was a harder read than normal, due to the topic, it was still a pleasure to ride along with Dillon as he juggled giving DCI McCabe just enough information to keep him from exploding and honoring Molly’s wishes that the investigation be discreet. I enjoy this series because there’s a good mix of police work, office politics, and personal life. I know when I see a Dillon book that I’m generally in for an entertaining trip. I eagerly await the next installment in this series.
I love anything Mike writes. This page turner is filled with secrets and threats that forever changes the life of everyone. A devious man who thinks he’s above the law. His lackeys do the deadly deeds as he gets away with murder, rape, blackmail all while raking in serious cash and fooling corporations with his hefty donations. Dillion and Suel work against time to bring justice and peace to those whose lives were destroyed by this notorious man. I stayed up reading until the end. Five stars for Mike Faricy.
As usual, this copper duo is great. A one sitting read since once begun no way I could stop until the bad guys apprehended. Mike Faricy, please say there will be another Dillon before too long.
I chose this rating because I really any stories with Dillon and Suel. They are always on the move and getting things done. Think I have read them all and they never disappoint.
As usual it was one I didn't want to put down.....I just loved it, the way it turned out....but I just love about anything by Mike and can hardly wait for the next one coming out....already ordered it!
Another page turner by Mike Faricy. I hope there's another Jack Dillon book in the works! I barely got dinner on the table because I couldn't put it down. Great read.
Jack and Suel find themselves caught in a confidential case within a known case, both involving McCain's niece Molly. I read this book in one evening . Its a terrific story and one of my favorite Jack Dillon's books! Well done, Mike Faricy, as always!!
This was supposed to be an easy gig as a reward for all their hard work. Investigate a robbery at McCabe's niece's house. That's not what she wants investigate, but what can they about a billionaire, well respected community member?
I could not put it down. I love this series of books. Just had to read it as soon as it came out. Mike did it again. I wasn't ready for the "who done it" ending.
