The Four Horsemen [Dramatized Adaptation] #3

Famine [Dramatized Adaptation]

Rate this book
They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

Ana da Silva always assumed she’d die young, she just never expected it to be at the hands of Famine, the haunting immortal who once spared her life so many years ago. But if the horseman remembers her at all, he must not care, for when she comes face to face with him for the second time in her life, she’s stabbed and left for dead.

Only, she doesn’t quite die.

If there’s one thing Famine is good at, it’s cruelty. And how these blighted bastards deserve it. Try as he might, he can’t forget what they once did to him. But when Ana, a ghost from his past, corners him and promises pain for what he so recently did to her, she and her empty threats captivate him, and he decides to keep her around.

In spite of themselves, Ana and Famine are drawn to each other. But at the end of the day, the two are enemies. Nothing changes that. Not one kind act, not two. And definitely not a few steamy nights. But enemies or reluctant lovers, if they don’t stop themselves soon, heaven will.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Found in the forest when she was young, Laura Thalassa was raised by fairies, kidnapped by werewolves, and given over to vampires as repayment for a hundred year debt. She’s been brought back to life twice, and, with a single kiss, she woke her true love from eternal sleep. She now lives happily ever after with her undead prince in a castle in the woods.

… or something like that anyway.

When not writing, Laura can be found scarfing down guacamole, hoarding chocolate for the apocalypse, or curled up on the couch with a good book.

This book, omg. At first it felt like any of the first two but the twists and turns and that EPIC ending?! I need daddy death now! Also Ana? Mommy. 5/5⭐️! Spice 🌶️🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.

In this story we get to follow Ana who’s suffered a life she didn’t want living as a prostitute when people around her start dying. She meets famine dead and cures him back to health. But unknowing to her this isn’t the last time she’s seeing Famine, and the next time he won’t be as lenient to let her leave.

I absolutely loved every second of listening to this book and can’t wait to read it! But can we please talk about that ending?! Laura you did it again you amazing human. Now I need to come down from reading such an amazing book so I can keep going with life. Also Ana is totally #mommy.

Wow. The richness of the world building is only overshadowed by the character development. Such an amazing story of growth and forgiveness.

Graphic Audio Dramatized Adaptation 💯

Famine is arguably the worst of them yet. And also kind of the best of them. 🔥

Her absolute rage freakout was very satisfying and the music during that scene was top notch 🤌

Interesting that this follows the same formula but it happens at the beginning AND the end.

I love that we get a brief cross over story between War and Famine. And that we are rallying the brothers for book 4!

LOVE that we get a Famine PoV!!!! And an interaction with Death at the end, who seems like a giant asshole.

"And I don't have a lot of experience being human. But right now both of us are gonna fucking try."

"Fuck her. And fuck her name too."

"A blow job to end all bloodshed. I like the ring of that."

"I don't even have a dick in me and I'm fucked."

"Calm your tits."

I swear I just read this book two other times. Was hoping we could change it up a little. Famines hot I guess... but that's just not enough at this point. Girl hates horseman, horseman hates humanity, horseman falls for girl, girl unsuccessfully resists horseman, girl bangs horseman thus saving humanity. Lets change the equation for the final installment please, I beg you!

I will forever find famine’s actions to let the mob boss live to be absolutely fucking stupid. The whole book is great, then you get to that part and like… what? You change personalities all of a sudden? Absolutely not. Some people deserve death. Instantly. His round of torture was def deserved on that one… idiot.

But famine is the biggest asshole and the best

Long Story Short: If you liked Pestilence, you'll probably LOVE Famine. Read the other books first, but if you can only read one then read this one!

Short Story Long: I want to start this off by saying Ana is BY FAR my favorite FMC in this series. She's strong, smart, funny, and relatable. I just absolutely adore her. I keep teetering back and forth trying to decided between if this book or Pestilence is my favorite, but if I had to pick I'd probably pick Famine. Famine is definitely a darker, angrier, more aggressive MMC compared to the previous books but I think he falls way harder than the others. I also think his abilities were far more interesting and the overall story was better. By this point the apocalypse is well established and since Ana has been surviving it her whole life I think she has a far more interesting background. The added element of the two having met before gave their story more depth and I just found it incredibly engaging. Also, I believe the previous books were single POV, so getting both Ana and Famine's POV was a nice change of pace . Pestilence and War felt like they wrapped up fairly decently, while still remaining open for the series. This one on the other hand ends with some high stakes that will potentially carry over heavily into the other book. It really feels like this one is more of the first in a duology rather than an interconnected standalone like the others. While the previous books can be read on their own, I would highly recommend reading this one after reading both Pestilence and War. There are more references to the others in this than the previous ones and I feel this one could potentially be a tad spoilery if read before the other two. While the other books were good, they did not have me absolutely giddy to go onto the next book like this one did. I'm so excited to read the final book in this series and see what lies in store for all our ladies and their horsemen!

I love these two MCs. I enjoy the fact that hat this FMC is a sex worker that is the person who shows Famine that there are good people that are worth saving. I also enjoyed that Famine is the farthest from human of the horsemen.

These books are so long and they are rough to get through with so many people dying all the time. Then the last two hours are full of confrontations with the next horseman. Next book should be everyone getting back together.

Why is there so much elevator music? Why does the narrator's voice sound so whiny? A poorly written book coupled with weird voices and terrible sound effects wrapped up into a real flop of a listen.

Why is this written so weird, was it proofread?

Why are we working with an ancient dude who says "hey" and "calm your tits"???

Why would you describe a tasteful nude statue covering herself with a leaf (or whatever it was) as "covering her breasts and p***y"? Was that necessary?

Why are we dealing with horses, carriages, bows and arrows and swords but the FMC "slips on some jeans"?? this FMC internal monologue is painful at best. More world building, less annoying internal monologue.

Some of the lingo used does not match up with the world the writer built and it takes me out of the mental picture every time.

boo. War was so good, this was an annoying listen that went nowhere.

DNF with 2 hours to go, but since I suffered for so long I'm doing to call it read and call it a day.

1 star.
