From the bestselling author of the Gideon Johann Western Series, the Wild Horse Westerns Series, and the Hand Of Western Series, comes The Saddle Tramps!
After the War of the Rebellion ended, Shane Engel and Jody Baird headed out west, seeking adventure and escape from their pasts. They spent their days riding the trail, making just enough money along the way to keep food in their bellies, a beer in their hand, and some cash left over to visit the ladies. Their carefree lives are interrupted when they run afoul of a sheriff. When an Indian boy they’d befriended puts them in a precarious position, the trio make their escape on a journey that has them dodging the law, encountering notorious outlaws, and meeting a couple of sisters that are also on the run from both their past and a man determined to return them back to him at any cost. Shane and Jody find themselves on the adventure of a lifetime as they try to clear their names, capture outlaws, and help Hilda and Elke start new lives. Will they succeed in their endeavors or will they end up remembered as just a couple of saddle tramps that went astray?
Duane Boehm has written another western novel with enough humor, heartbreak, love, and outlaws to keep you turning the page.
Duane Boehm grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All the time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of opportunity to let his imagination run wild and not tear up too much equipment. The two passions he developed early in life were the love of playing guitar and reading books.
He eventually moved to a mini-farm outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife and replaced planting corn with trees and raising dogs. For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and continued with being a part-time musician and songwriter. He dabbled in writing short stories with the idea in the back of his mind that someday he would write a novel. One Christmas after watching "A Christmas Carol", he was inspired to begin his journey as a novelist.

If you're into a great western, this book is for you.
Quotes: "Don't feel guilty for what we've done. Surviving isn't a son."
Two women on a journey leaving horrible experiences behind. Two men on a journey just for adventure. Trials and adversity following all four of them. Finally their paths cross and they connect. I wish I could have read more of their story in buying a ranch and starting their new journey.
Two Saddle Tramps, what a enjoyable book of brother bond during civil war that sends them westward to adventures of struggle of finding where God's plan comes Lon you with the decisions you make on the way, I like the plot of adding in horse, villian, boy & sisters in peril was skillful added at the right time.. I couldn't put it down. Kept up.all.night to finish. Thank you enjoyable hours of reading.
Saddle pals rescue sisters who are escaping a wretched bordello owner. Action, mayhem, mistaken identity, and a little romance make this western novel a memorable reading!
Every time a new Duane Boehm book comes out , I stop and read it. I have enjoyed this book just like the other ones. J.C. and R.O. were my favorite. I'm going to have to SD Duane Boehm to the list.
Two men, two women & one Indian Boy : Happy Ending !
Wow ! What a saga across the far west. Shane & Jody are saddle bums out to work their way across the west. Elke & Hilda are two sisters running from life on their dad’s farm. Both pairs travel separately and fall into life threatening circumstances to include gun battles, living on the streets, physical servitude, kidnapping and arrest as notorious bandits. Eventually, one pair accidentally saves the other. With pressures & threats from the girls former boss, there seems no way out. Then a surprising ending makes the journey worth while. Don’t miss this story.
When you saddle tramp you take a chance on being able to survive; when you strike out on your own from a bad situation you take a chance on your survival; when you've been put down all your life and somebody finally sticks up for you you take a chance on surviving in a new world. Our five friends take a chance on each other and it does indeed lead to survival. Hard times can bring people close together and Mr. Boehm does that in a daring adventure. Really good read.
I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the bond of these lifetime friends, the quarrels they had and the way they resolved them. They were such good friends, they couldn't stay mad at each other for more than a few days, somewhat like siblings. The kidnapping of the outlaw , Kid, was a little to easy for such a famous outlaw which is why I gave 4 stars. I recommend this book for an enjoyable read.
The story is okay. Adventure some intrigue subtle romance but I hate abrupt endings. Could have gone and finished out the story instead the author leaves you sitting there with no place else to go. Not good
Very well written story. Did not want to put it down. I hope there is a volume two in the works. It would be a shame if their wasn't. It could be the start of a small series of a few books
This was adventurous story. The 2 cowboys are up for anything and everything but not looking to be tied down. Much like this era, looking to find what is the intended pathway to success leads these 2 guys on some wild and unexpected experiences.
One of the better western books I’ve read in a long while. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and story with me. Many of the changes in this book kept it interesting. Hope you do more writing along these lines.
Duane Boehm has continued his tradition of writing fun, clean, and exciting western novels. I have thoroughly enjoyed each one and look forward to my tradition of reading and enjoying each of his books. Keep up the good work, Duane!
Born and raised in the west and can relate to the places in the book. I like a book that is entertaining and doesn't leave me depressed but ends with a smile and a happy ending. Nice to ride along with.
This was a really good read. It has a great story line with lots of action, humor and deep caring. Have read all of this author's books and there's not a bad one in the bunch. Would highly recommend this and all others written by this author.
I haven’t had this much fun reading a book in a long time. Time after time it put a smile on my face. I loved it from start to finish! I will look for more books by this author.
When I started reading I thought I would not like, but as I continued to read it god better and better. Good story line. Glad the main characters did not get killed and lived happy after.
Great read from an author who never misses. Interesting storyline and hated to see it end. Would like to read more with the same characters. Would be a good series. Thanks.
I think I've read all of Mr Boehm's books over the past few years and have really enjoyed most of them so I was really looking forward to reading this one. I almost quit reading several times but continued to the end because the story itself is good. But I do not recall the author using much if any profanity in his previous books......this one is filled with profanity and I am disappointed about that. There is absolutely no need for profanity and for me it takes away from the story. I prefer books that are cleanly written, so next time I see a book from this author I will search it for profanity and if found then I simply won't read it. If you don't mind profanity then I am quite sure you will enjoy this book.
