I wasn’t a huge fan of the dialogue 😅 He said “Sexy as shit” and she said “Okay.” too much imo and a lot of it didn’t feel natural imo 🤷🏻♀️ This is likely just a me problem though!
But it did have me crying with the last 25% of it.
Synopsis was a little misleading and I struggled to move past that, I didn't necessarily enjoy the idea of Gabriel in the book. Otherwise, it was a cute and easy read. I just wish it matched the synopsis.
“Be with the people you love, and your life will feel full in the end, whenever that time may come.”
The Summer Proposal sounds light and flirty, and it is, but it also includes heavy hurts that make the happiness all the more rewarding. —
this and that: ♡ acting like a tourist in your own town ♡ dual pov ♡ hockey player x entrepreneur ♡ just for the summer ♡ meet the family shenanigans ♡ open door ♡ single pov ♡ wrong blind date meet cute
triggers: ☞ death ☞ grief ☞ hereditary health issues ☞ hospital scenes
Okayyy this was so cute!! i could so vividly imagine a perfect romcom movie out of this while reading 🥰
My only cons are wishing Georgia wouldn’t have put up with Gabriel’s “relationship preference” while he was away to begin with buttt I guess that’s just part of the plot lol. I got over it. The 🌶️ scenes weren’t my favorite as far as how they were written (acknowledging my bias and favor for romantasy / fantasy writing lol) but being that there were only a handful of them, it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.
Reminding myself that this book has the FMC in an open relationship for the summer rather than breaking up with her BF, according to other reviews. (This book was originally self published and has been picked up by Bloom, who is notorious for publishing self pubbed hits.)
The cover is totally adorable, and the blurb is perfect. I was about to request this one on Netgalley, but I don't think I'm the reader for this story.
Standalone hockey romance? Don't mind if I do! While willing to look past the meet cute (because IT WAS CUTE), I was unable to look past other tropes used throughout (miscommunication, major illness, big drama with resolution in one sentence, traumatic background requiring ~self sacrifice!~). It was an easy, fast read, but not one I'll be recommending.
*Thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and NetGalley for the ARC!*
Vi Keeland’s books are the best books to escape the real world. I love the pacing of her stories and the entertainment they provide. A dash of spice and some amazing side characters. This story was no exception. The real life situations that happen in this book, make me love it even more. There is not a Vi Keeland book I will not read. Highly recommend.
I absolutely loved everything about this book!! From start to finish hooked! I’m obsessed with the MMC Max and the FMC Georgia! oh and her BFF Maggie is the greatest! She needs a book! 5 huge ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and lots of 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ to go with those!
I absolutely loved this book. From the most adorable of meet-cutes until the very last page, I was hooked. It was fun and entertaining but also sweet and emotional. I did not expect to cry like I did. So worth the read!
