Meddling Under the Mistletoe

Rate this book
Five years ago, Dr. Lindsey Haggerty inherited her late father’s veterinary clinic, and with it, a constant reminder of how quickly she could lose those she loves most. So when a handsome new client asks her out, she's quick to shut it down. It’s Christmastime, and Lindsey’s only focus is making new holiday memories with the remaining members of the Haggerty clan—if only she could get her stubborn, heart-sick mom on board.

MJ Haggerty is still clinging to the beautiful life she shared with her late husband, but when she discovers Lindsey is burying the crush she has on the town's newest firefighter, the chance to meddle in her head-strong, independent, and chronically single eldest daughter’s life might be just the incentive she needs to come out of hibernation.

Not to be out-meddled, Lindsey seeks revenge by asking for help keeping an adorable puppy with an appetite for destruction. What Lindsey doesn’t anticipate is her mom hitting it off with the pup’s retired owner. As unexpected connections spark for mother and daughter, they each find themselves torn between the comfort of the familiar and the promise of what could be for Christmases to come.

Thank you to @heymelissagrace and @penpalpr for the gifted digital ARC in exchange for an honest review! 🥰

This was the perfect first book to read to start my holiday reads. I love spooky season, but as soon as November hits i’m all about the coziness of the holidays!

The story follows a mother and daughter, MJ and Lindsey, as they navigate grief and the holiday season five years after the loss of the family's husband and father. The plot involves both women meddling in each other's love lives, with Lindsey hesitant to start a new relationship and MJ trying to move on from her past.

Melissa Grace did an amazing job incorporating humor in this story while also navigating grief and finding love. This story has a different perspective than I am used to which is a dual POV from the FMC and her mom. I loved the romance that was bubbling between the characters and their paths to one another, as well as the furry pals that tagged along. My favorite romance books are the ones that have the right amount of romance and depth to it which Meddling Under The Mistletoe has! If you’re looking for a romance book to start up this holiday season, I recommend this one!!

Meddling Under the Mistletoe by Melissa Grace

5/5 Stars ⭐️

I am deeply touched by and in love with this book. What an amazing story of family relationships, healing from loss, managing chronic illness, second chances, and learning to let love in again!

A huge thank you to @penpalpr and @heymelissagrace for the #gifted eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This is a book I’ll be re-reading every winter and treasuring. It should honestly be made into a movie too!

The character development in this novel is very well done - it jumps between the perspective of Lindsey and her mother MJ, who both have experienced heartbreak and loss. The book also provides the perfect balance between deeper reflections on loss and chronic illness with more lighthearted banter and humour. Overall, it just felt like such a realistic reflection of life, love, and family.

As expected, the mom begins to meddle in Lindsey’s love life with the newly arrived firefighter Oliver but I was delighted to see Lindsey turn the tables and meddle in her mom’s as well!

As both women, and their siblings, are brought together through their meddling, will Lindsey and MJ heal and open a space for romantic partners in their lives, or will their meddling ruin it all??

Lindsey Haggerty beloved town vet is decidedly single. She has her work and her family and that’s enough for her. Still reeling from the death of her father she’s had enough loss without adding a relationship that has the potential to cause more pain to the mix. Lindsey’s mom MJ still feels the death of her husband very deeply. He was the love of her life and as long as she keeps their holiday traditions exactly the same she’ll honour his memory. Enter a friendly new to town firefighter and his dapper salt and pepper haired baby dragon dog owning neighbour and things might just look a little different this holiday season.
This book was truly an amazing read. It had all the witty banter and all of the feels. Melissa Grace expertly explores the difficult topics of grief and loss with such care. You navigate this family’s heartbreak and you see their transition back into happiness. The characters are so exquisitely well written and have such depth and love for each other you can’t help but wish them nothing but all the happiness in the world. This is a wonderful holiday read that’ll make you count your blessings and honour the things that are important in your life.

This should be a Hallmark movie for sure! This was a cozy, heartwarming read. I was lucky enough to get this as an ARC and I really enjoyed it.

Lindsey has spent the last 5 years holding on to her father legacy and keeping others well being her focus that she has forgotten about herself. When a hunky new firefighter shows up in her office everyone sees the sparks ignite.

Since the untimely death of her husband MJ has kept the holidays the way they were before but Lindsey and her siblings want to make some changes.

When MJ gets wind of Lindsey’s new crush on the hot firefighter she decides to make it her mission to help her find love.

Lindsey’s newest client at her veterinarian practice ends up in the hospital, and she offers to help take care of his fiesty little puppy. But soon, Lindsey is asking MJ for help as a way to get back at her for meddling in her love life.
The next thing she knows her mom is falling for its owner.

Now both Lindsey and MJ are falling for the first time in a long time but will they let it happen or will the past scare them away from the possibility of love after loss?

“We’re not forty anymore. Avoiding calls is a surefire way to get yourself a wellness check and a possible call to the coroner’s office.”

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an early readers copy in exchange for an honest review

I’m a sucker for a cute holiday-themed romance book! The cover for this was so well done and eye-catching. I can’t wait to add this one to my shelf!

The new holiday rom-com takes place in a cozy small town during the holidays with a close community. With feelings of comfort or perhaps nostalgia as you envision it as your childhood home, one you grew up in, or, like me, one you wish you could have had! It centers around dual main characters one of whom is MJ who is the heart of the family who thrives on togetherness and tradition and the other on her daughter Lindsay who is putting her work life above finding a relationship and being happy. This book is more than just a holiday rom-com but also digs deep into the realism of grief and what it looks like for different members within a family. Such as, MJ’s grief of losing her husband and how that affects holidays without him moving forward, and the effects on the rest of her family as well with not only losing their father who played such a significant part in their lives but also seeing their mother mourn what had been.

One of my favorite things about the book was quirky Aunt Rose who was such a favorable character for me because you never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. I can’t tell you the number of times I laughed out loud at her comebacks while reading. They were the perfect amount of comedic relief I needed within the storyline to break up some of the heavier moments. She also helped keep the family together with her brutal honesty with trying to steer MJ into realizing that she can’t relive the past holidays but maybe for her to allow her grown children and their families to start new traditions and to move forward in healing.

I really liked the uniqueness of this story being told in a dual POV between a mother and daughter! It’s like two meddling love stories in one. And MJ, the mother, was so fun! She had this lovable flair for the dramatic, and the banter with her sister Rose had me dying. Their scenes together were genuinely hilarious!

Lindsey was great too! Living with fibromyalgia, I really liked the way this was incorporated into the story, showing how it can affect her daily life. The support she gets from the people around her was so nice to see. And Oliver, the handsome firefighter she initially crosses paths with in her veterinary clinic, was such a solid green flag! He’s comfortable in himself, completely genuine, and honestly just a really great guy.

After the passing of Lindsey's father, Lindsey and MJ are navigating their own grief, creating some understandable fear around change and letting go of old holiday traditions. But I'd say it was often more of a personal journey than a source of conflict within either romance, at least until closer to the end. The emotions were definitely there, but without much romantic tension, sometimes the story felt a little flat.

But I truly adored these characters and the way they worked through their healing, both separately and together. It’s a very soft, tender story and totally comforting in the way I love a holiday read to be!

A story that details love and loss in all it’s messy glory.

This was a cute and funny story following mother and daughter duo, MJ and Lindsey. Both who are closed off to love for their own reasons — MJ because the love of her life died and Lindsey who is dealing with past relationship trauma as well as navigating the death of her dad.

Not going to lie, Lindsey aggravated me a lot with her closed-offness and unwilling to own up to her feelings for Oliver 😂 though you will understand why she was that way later in the book.

Can we just talk about Aunt Rose for a minute? She was HILARIOUS! She was so quick witted and she’s based on the author’s family member which must have been a lot of fun!!

I recommend this quick, holiday romcom but be warned there are some heavy topics in it such as grief and chronic illness. I am so happy that both MJ and Lindsey got their happily ever afters!

Read if you like:
❄️ Chronic illness representation
❄️ Cozy, small town charm
❄️ Mom and daughter meddling with each other’s love lives
❄️ Overcoming & navigating grief

P.S - I need an Aunt Rose finds love book ASAP 😝

ARC REVIEW
This was such a cozy, heartwarming, holiday read. I love all the holiday vibes, the sass between the family, and the love between them all. I laughed out loud so many times during this read and adored Aunt Rose from the start-such a spitfire!

I really enjoyed the parallel love stories between Lindsey and MJ. Both on their own journeys to find themselves after a major loss, they leaned on each other to find out what really matters, how to move on, and how to be truly honest and vulnerable with themselves, while letting in new, unexpected love along the way.

The dedication and quote at the beginning of this book really tied the story together. “Memories are simply moments that refuse to be ordinary.” The importance of memories and how to carry those memories while creating an equally extraordinary life post-loss was weaved throughout this entire story.

I truly loved every second of reading this and can’t wait for everyone to have the chance to read it on November 4!

I was lucky enough to get early access to the new @heymelissagrace book Meddling Under the Mistletoe. It is a cute holiday story that follows mother MJ, daughter Lindsey, and the rest of their family as they navigate loss and love. I laughed, smiled, and got in my feels while reading this book. Aunt Rose quickly became my favorite supporting character with her funny one liners and wit.

This was such a great story on many levels. This wasn’t just a simple romcom, although it is very funny and very heartwarming in equal amounts.

Let’s start with the romance. First you have Lindsay and Oliver. They meet at the vet’s clinic where Lindsay works. Oliver is a firefighter EMT, new to town and has brought his dog in for a checkup but he and Lindsay come together when a fellow patient is taken ill. Lindsay is wary about letting someone in after losing her father suddenly so she shuts down any idea of romance with Oliver.

Next you have MJ, Lindsay’s mum. Having lost her husband Henry, she’s struggling to keep his memory alive, making sure every holiday is exactly the same as it was when he was with them. When she meets Ron, the guy who took ill at the vet’s clinic, she starts to feel maybe there is a chance for a second love but she feels like she’s betraying her first husband’s memory.

When MJ starts meddling to get Lindsay and Oliver together, Lindsay starts meddling right back and invites Ron to more family occasions. The book is told from a dual POV between Lindsay and MJ and I loved seeing the different perspectives when it came to navigating a new romantic relationship. Henry’s death had a profound effect on both women and it was a lot for them to overcome. Both Ron and Oliver were very patient with this, although Oliver and Lindsay had more to deal with, given Lindsay’s chronic illness that she lied to Oliver about. I did like how she eventually owned her mistakes and sought help to resolve them.

A lovely story that gave me warm fuzzy feelings.

This book was such a fun read! I love holiday romance books in the first place but when I read this had some older adults, meddling relatives and animals I knew I had to read this!

It did not disappoint. Lindsay is the local veterinarian with a kind heart, a chronic illness and a close family. This family lost their father/husband and the holiday’s have been difficult ever since.

MJ (Lindsay’s Mom) keeps trying to keep her husband’s memory alive by keeping every tradition, etc. the exact same while Lindsay and her siblings and their family are desperately wanting to change things up a bit.

Meanwhile, Lindsay meets hunky firefighter Oliver and while she really hasn’t wanted a relationship she can’t deny this attraction.

I don’t want to give any spoilers but this is a feel good, hallmark vibe book which just gave me cozy vibes!

This was perfect. It hit me right in the feelings in the BEST WAY. I’ve loved all of Melissa’s books, and they hold a very special place in my heart but there’s something about this one that just sits a little closer!! It’s full of LOVE and meddling and goofy sisters and navigating grief in the toughest season and finding a second chance when you never thought you would or even wanted too. It was BEAUTIFUL and like I always saw when I have a lot a feelings about book but end up writing a lot anyway… I don’t know how to verbalize how much I loved this book!!

Lindsey and MJ! They were quite a pair! The whole family was such a treat to get to know - a special shout to Rose because obviously she is the star of the show!!! But seeing both Lindsey and MJ navigating their grief and finding a way through it was so beautiful. And even the way everyone else dealt with their grief was beautifully written! I looooooved seeing them, and really Oliver and Ron too, find their second chances.

And the new men in their lives!!! Oliver really is THAT MAN! He fell so hard, after his own grief journey, and he cared so deeply about Lindsey and her family. I loved how he was able to connect with MJ without really knowing what she needed, he was still able to be there and make such a huge impact on her. And Ron! And little June Bug!!! They were such a bright (and chaotic in June Bug’s case) light for MJ. I loved seeing her open up to someone new, while still struggling - because moving on after the love of your life cannot be easy and I loved how Melissa wrote it. He loved MJ and was willing to take whatever she was willing to give him and that was exactly what she needed!

This felt like a holiday romance movie in the best way! Because Melissa wrote this like a love letter to Diane Keaton and it SHOWS! Not that every book needs to be compared to a movie or that it should be a move or whatever…but there is something about when it happens so seamlessly that makes my heart feel SO FULL.

Thank you so much to PenPal PR and Melissa Grace for the arc in exchange for an honest review!!

Lindsey inherited her Vet's practice after her beloved Father passed away, but his death has had a lasting impact on Lindsey, she is scared to love now, knowing how short life is. MJ - Lindsey's Mother, is also struggling as she feels her husband's absence everywhere, especially at this time of year. When MJ sees a spark between Lindsey and firefighter Oliver, she decides to do a bit of meddling to make her daughter happy, but MJ isn't the only one who can play that game... get the mistletoe ready!

The Pro's:
* This book is EXACTLY like a Christmas holiday movie! It's cheesy and schmaltzy in parts (which I love), you have a meddling Mum, sadness and hope. A classic Hallmark style film - in the best way.
* All the characters are likeable and relatable - Aunt Rose is particularly hilarious
* There are cute animals: a destructive dog called June Bug and a sweet cat called Catrick Swayze (lol)
* The dedication to Diane Keaton 💗

The Con's:
* There are sad parts in the book including grief
* There is chronic illness mentioned, in case that's not for you

The Quotes:
* I’d give anything to talk to my dad. He’d know exactly what to do. In the time since he passed, I learned a lot about grief and what it means to lose someone so significant, the most important being that your life becomes firmly divided into two parts: before and after. No matter how hard you try to arrange pieces of the past into the puzzle that is the future, they’ll never fit the way they used to.

* “If you were a sandwich, what kind would be be?” he asks. I snort out a laugh.
“I’m sorry - what?”
“I told you, I want to learn about you,” he says. “And while knowing things like your favourite color or holiday are nice, they don’t tell me a lot about you.”

*“You know, one of the secrets of Mistletoe Fest is that this stuff is strung all along the path,” I say. “There’s probably hundreds of those things around here.” Our eyes meet again, and he tucks a piece of hair behind my ear. “Then I hope we find every single one.”

The Summary:
Meddling under the Mistletoe was such a fun read - it is literally like a Christmas holiday movie, but in book form. I can absolutely see this as a film and could have seen Diane Keaton as MJ (rest in peace). There is sadness and grief but a whole lot of joy and hilarity too. From destructive dogs, to Mistletoe Fest, sweet firefighters and holidays spent with families - this book has it all. I throughly recommend you pick this book up.

The book releases 4th November 2025.

Good golly did this book have me cackling out loud at times! @heymelissagrace writes comedic timing like Shakespeare writes tragedies. It sucks you in from the beginning and you don’t even realize it’s happening until you’re laughing out loud in the middle of a public coffee shop like a crazy person.

ɪ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ᴀ ꜱɪᴘ ᴏꜰ ᴍʏ ʟᴀᴛᴛᴇ, ʙᴜᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴀʀᴇɴᴛʟʏ, ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴏꜰꜰᴇᴇ ɪꜱɴ’ᴛ ʜᴏᴛ ᴇɴᴏᴜɢʜ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴀᴡ ᴛʜᴇ ɪᴄᴇ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ᴍʏ ᴄᴏʟᴅ, ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ.

This book had the perfect amount of holiday vibes 🍂 🦃 🎄 that honestly made me so excited to jump into the festivities. You are taken on a journey of healing grief, holiday magic, and the love of family that is sickeningly sick. I think I got cavity by the end (in the best way).

𝔸 𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕝𝕖𝕕 𝕞𝕠𝕒𝕟 𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕙𝕪 𝕠𝕗 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝔾𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕥 𝕠𝕗 ℂ𝕙𝕣𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕞𝕒𝕤 ℙ𝕒𝕤𝕥 𝕗𝕚𝕝𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤 𝕚𝕟 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕜𝕚𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕟.

And the romance!? Adorable. I think I was rooting for MJ’s love story even more than Lindsey’s, and I wasn’t even sure how I would feel about an older couple’s love story. Turns out, it’s so sweet- I hope everyone finds a Ron in their second life🥹🩷

This was such a cozy way to kickstart the holiday season. For lovers of movies such as The Family Stone/Because I Said So (the dedication to Diane Keaton - also very fitting!), this is a perfect and fast read for when you are wanting to curl up on the couch next to the Christmas tree with a warm beverage and just immerse yourself into the book's universe.

I really felt like I got to know both MJ + Lindsey, as well as the rest of the Haggerty family, as well as their dynamic(s) with one another. The dual POV did not confuse storylines for me at all, and it was fun to watch them give themselves chances at love. The conflict(s) were very Hallmark Christmas movie, but, that's exactly what I was expecting going into this book.

Would recommend to all who love an easy, enjoyable read, especially if you are a romance girly like myself. :) Many thanks to Pen Pal PR for letting me be a part of the ARC team for this release!

— ARC Review — I enjoyed this story so much! It is clearly a holiday book but was done SO well and struck a balance between being festive while also carrying real life themes that are present for many around the holidays. From the dedication to the epilogue, once again Melissa had me experiencing all the emotions — from laughing out loud to having tears in my eyes. I loved the characters, their relationships with one another and their interactions of love and support in navigating all that comes with loss and finding a new normal as a family unit. The Family Stone is one of my favorite holiday movies and this gave me all of those vibes in book form! I highly would recommend to anyone looking for a cozy, heart-warming Christmas story to kick off the season!

I am so grateful that this book was my FIRST ARC because I absolutely loved it. To me this book screams Hallmark Christmas movie and I am a Hallmark Christmas movie lover.

Following around a mother and daughter on their journey through grief and finding love takes you on a roller coaster, but their love and support from one another and the rest of the family was like none other.

All together this book had the perfect amount of romance, and comedy to it. I was definitely laughing at Aunt Rose and her quirky self.

Thank you Melissa Grace and Pen Pal PR for giving me my first chance with an ARC.

4.5 stars, rounded up

SO. CUTE. I loved this book! The characters were *chef’s kiss* and the storyline was just so dang sweet and heartfelt. It was pretty cheesy, but if one moves past that, it’s such a lovely, adorable read.

For anyone looking for very minimal spice, this book is for you! There were 0 sex scenes, but still several silly innuendos that added some fun humor.

The poor characters go through so much grief and growing in this novel. I found myself so engrossed in the emotion of their stories and the ways they were able to move forward while still honoring their past. I would imagine that anyone who has experienced love after grief would relate strongly to this book. I felt the soul of the story so strongly, and it sometimes nearly moved me to tears. Also, that ending though… wrapped in a sweet little bow!

There were a couple of things that probably could have been fleshed out a bit better, but overall, this was a very excellent read. The pros FAR outweighed any cons. Ya never quite know what you’re gonna get with an ARC read, and I was very pleased with the result of this one. Would totally read more Melissa Grace, if given the opportunity! Go check it out!

Do you miss Diane Keaton? Do you love a Diane Keaton Romantic Comedy? Do you want to read a feel good romance full of christmas cheer & family fun? This is THE ONE.

I was so excited to be part of this @penpalpr arc team!! I knew from the moment I saw the cover & description a little Diane Keaton nostalgia would be good for me! Then I saw the Author’s note….. @heymelissagrace mentioned her love of Diane Keaton and basing MJ off of her and man do you feel it. I loved that she mentioned this because it was so easy to envision MJs character. The book gave me VERY BIG ‘Because I said so” vibes….you know the one with Diane and Mandy Moore but not as next level as Diane was in that movie.

The book navigates Dr. Lindsey Haggarty & her mom, MJ as they go through the grief of Lindsey’s late father. Another Christmas is coming around and it means a Christmas that he is not here. Lindsey & her mom have not dated since he passed but a couple meet cutes later and maybe a little bit of meddling and things pick up!

This book is a warm cup of Hot Cocoa, snuggled under your best cozy blanket! It’s a feel good book, a perfect Christmas story and a lot of fun. There is no spice but you might get some butterflies here and there. Highly recommend for this Holiday season especially if you’re missing our girl Diane.

TLDR; 4/5 stars! A perfectly balanced sweet and soulful story to get you in the Christmas mood without the sugar coma of a hallmark movie!

Writing Style: I enjoyed Grace’s easy going writing style. I knew enough of what was going on in each FMC’s head without feeling like they were informing me. Great balance of dialogue and action, never a given in romance. I also really enjoyed the dual pov from 2 women main characters. I haven’t read a book with that yet and I quite enjoyed both their perspectives and how intertwined their stories went!

Plot & Pacing: like any romance, the timeline can feel a bit crunched but I appreciated how both FMCs ended up changed and with the family on Christmas and how that affected their choices with the love interests. The happily ever after felt like it was won! Very well done!

Characters: Both women, as well as most of their family members felt unique but unified. The love interests were nice as well, I actually thought Ron was more developed than Oliver, I would’ve liked to see Oliver struggle a bit more, but I just like pining so that’s a preference for me :)

Content: no spice, clean romance! Some fun innuendos and familial joking that were quite funny but be aware!

All in all: So fun, hilarious, and has all the depth and magic of a Christmas classic!

This was my first Christmas read of the season, and it did not disappoint! I loved how the story was written from both the mother’s and daughter’s perspectives, each discovering love after loss in their own beautiful way.

Lindsey is a small-town veterinarian who meets a newly arrived firefighter, and their budding romance is filled with those fun, raw, and sometimes awkward moments that come with getting to know someone new. Meanwhile, Lindsey’s mother, MJ, is grieving the loss of her husband, but a very rambunctious pup named June Bug helps her heal and find a new outlook on life and love.

What I appreciated most was how real the emotions felt. Pain, fear, hesitation, joy, and hope all balanced perfectly. The author touches on real life struggles like grief, the fear of losing loved ones, and managing an autoimmune disease, all while weaving in the warmth of a close knit family.

It’s clean, heartfelt, and genuinely uplifting, a perfect small-town Christmas romance with the happily ever after we crave.

My favorite quote: “Love comes at a cost that someone must pay.”

A sweet, cozy, and emotional holiday read that will stay with you long after you turn the last page.

Meddling Under the Mistletoe surprised me in the most bittersweet way. We’ve got a grieving widow, an older man learning how to love again while caring for a puppy, a firefighter hero, and a young veterinarian who brings fresh light back into his world. Honestly, what more could we want? I loved how the story let two romances bloom side by side: the young couple falling into new love with all its spark and sweetness, and the older couple rediscovering connection, comfort, and companionship after loss. The exploration of grief was tender and thoughtfully done, especially the way the characters held onto old traditions while slowly weaving new ones in, healing not by forgetting, but by making space for both love and memory. I seriously cannot believe well under 500 people have read this masterpiece. It deserves far more eyes, especially from those who like their holiday reads to feel real, emotional, and powerful. A great pick for Christmas if you’re in the mood for romance wrapped in heart, and a side of healing just be prepared, the grief themes run deep.

“There’s a new story waiting to be written, if I can just be brave enough to grab a pen.”

Meddling Under the Mistletoe is a dual POV novel, split between Myra Jean and her daughter Lindsey.

The story follows the two as they navigate their traditions and every day lives, following the death of MJ’s husband (Lindsey’s dad).

Both women unexpectedly find themselves falling for men, when they thought love was no longer in the cards.

MJ is lost after the loss of her husband and doesn’t want to move on and forget about him. Lindsey, doesn’t want to give her heart to someone only to have it broken when something tragic and unexpected happens.

“I want to be brave like you. I want to run toward you, even though I’m completely terrified.”

After two, third act breakups, both MJ and Lindsey learn how to give themselves to love without losing their history. This book ends with a HEA, after a beautiful story about loss, love, and life after the death of a loved one.

If you have recently lost someone close to you, this book may be triggering to you. But if you enjoy Hallmark movies, this is the book for you.

“I’m a fan of watching the sunrise. The world makes a lot more sense there.”

I had the coolest opportunity to read the ARC of 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐞 by Melissa Grace! 🎄

The story follows the Haggerty family, swapping POVs between the matriarch, MJ, and her oldest daughter, veterinarian Lindsey. The family is navigating the holiday season after MJ’s husband (Lindsey’s father) unexpectedly passed away a few years before.

Author Melissa Grace perfectly captured the cozy Christmas vibes that inevitably creates a sense of nostalgia, and grief dealing with huge loss during the holidays. But along the grief comes a sense of hope and the light of new beginnings in the form of two MMCs. 🥰

The characters felt genuine, especially with our chronically ill FMC, and the story was heartwarming and so funny! I couldn’t get enough! ☕️ I promise you’ll want to blast Christmas tunes and crave a toasted praline latte while reading this one. 😂

This was my first ARC ever and I feel really lucky because I truly loved Meddling Under the Mistletoe! I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. Thank you PenPalPR for choosing me to read this ARC!

A heartwarming, magical holiday story that showcases grief simultaneously with acceptance of new love and romance. The holidays are tough, especially for veterinarian Lindsay and her widowed mother, MJ, as they approach each one without the father and spouse they loved. When each embark to find someone for each other, there’s quite a bit of self reflection, healing, and humor too! The tougher topics were balanced with lighthearted wit and charm, mixed together with the magic of the holiday season. I adored the relatability of the characters, the development of the closed-door romances, and the importance of love and support of family that was included in this story. PSA: read this book if solely for the retrospective and amazing monologue on waiting for surises and/or chasing sunsets. Have tissues on hand…you’re welcome. 4.5 stars
Thanks to PenPalPr for the eARC

Thank you so much for the author and PenPalPR for the ARC!

I adored this book. ADORED. Because I Said So and The Family Stone are some of my top comfort movies (RIP Diane Keaton) and I loved that those were inspirations for this book. MJ was based off Diane Keaton and this was extra special to read after her passing.

It was so fun reading two different love stories and I appreciated both romances. I thought the pacing of their courtships were realistic and the chemistry between both couples was 😍😍😍

The side characters were amazing as well as the setting. I also loved all the Christmas and holiday magic and I whole-heartedly recommend this book! 🎄

This was the prefect book to kickoff the holiday season.

Oliver is the sweetest firefighter. Lindsey is a super sweet veterinarian. They are both so cute. I fell in love with not only the two of them but all the characters. MJ loves her kids so much, gets a second shot at love. Rose is an absolute hoot (I feel like every family needs a Rose).

Learning to live and move forward after loosing someone so important is really hard. And especially through the holiday season. I was able to relate to it a lot. But they were all able to open their hearts and move forward.

I was so lucky to get an ARC of this book and I absolutely loved it. Thank you, Melissa Grace for the opportunity. I can’t wait to read more.
