Being an Omega was supposed to make me special. Instead, it breaks my heart.
Layla Wilder is doing her best to adjust to Amaata and her new status as an Omega. She may have been born and raised on Earth, but she knows there’s no going back. Instead of fighting her situation, she aims to make the most of it.
I mean, who doesn’t want a pack of adoring Alphas providing for your every need?
But when she’s sent to the coast to meet the imposing and powerful Pack Monrhutton, her reception is anything but adoring. Secrets follow her around the gothic halls of the isolated estate, and whispers of her alien blood taint the relationships she’s trying to build.
Humiliated and heart-broken, Layla flees back to the safety of the Omega Conservatory and her sisters. But as a storm approaches, Layla is at risk of much more than a broken heart. An unbonded Omega alone is a temptation few Alphas can resist. Can she make it back to her sisters before her designation is discovered? Or will she be dragged back to the unwelcoming arms of Pack Monrhutton?
NOT YOUR OMEGA DARLING, PART ONEis the first in a rejected mates reverse harem about a girl from earth landing in an Omegaverse world where humans live in packs. They are not shifters, though there is a touch of magic sprinkled throughout. No choosing, no cheating and a guaranteed HEA! This is book one of the in the second duet of the Wilder Omegas Omegaverse, a series of duets that are best read in order, but can be enjoyed completely on their own. Content Warnings included in forward of the novel and on the author’s website.
I have been eagerly awaiting Layla's story since finishing Katie's and I have not been disappointed.
It is nice to see an omegaverse book where it's not insta love and the characters actually develop and have a personality. Layla's anxiety resonates with me and I feel for her so bad. I know what it's like to not be wanted.
The story kept me engaged and I am eager to see what happens next. I also need to know what is on the fourth floor!
Calista and Marc can disappear for all I care but I really liked Ollie and Etta.
I’m so disappointed. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series which followed Katie and her pack. Yes there were some bumps in the road, but the group was 1. Only male and 2. A clear established pack. Book three, Layla’s story is the opposite of Katie’s story. The pack is mixed, both men and women, which would be okay if it had been established BEFOREHAND that Layla was bisexual, but it wasn’t, and she isn’t, so it’s just a mess, and two, the pack is SO NOT A PACK it’s ridiculous! The pack is so fragmented and broken it’s just awful putting Layla in the middle of it. To make matters worse Marcellus is the biggest a-hole I’ve read about in a long time, and Ruel isn’t far behind. Marcellus is bonded to a beta, Callista, and the two of them blatantly rub Layla’s face in their relationship, showing her at every moment that they’re bonded and having sex, and that she is unwanted. But the straw that broke the camels back that made this book intolerable (as in I don’t want to read the second part of her story because I’ll be mad at her if she forgives them, the only good thing that could come outta this would be if Hugo tossed Marcellus and Callista out on their self entitled asses) but I know that in part two she’ll become part of the pack and it pisses me off knowing that somehow she’ll have to accept them. They had sex on HER PIANO, and made it clear that they only wanted her out of the pack, smearing their “juices” all over her courting gift…it was disgusting to read and made me sick to my stomach! They are heinous characters, and don’t deserve a pack, heck why are they in a pack anyway if all they want to do is attend elite parties together and screw?!!!! Gah. What awful characters! Then there is Ruel who just treats her like garbage because HE’S GAY! He didn’t want an omega and he especially didn’t want another female in the Pack. How the author even thinks she’s going to integrate a gay character into the storyline in the second part of Layla’s book is a mystery that honestly I don’t want to know the outcome of. Dev is never present. Laith had potential but spent too much time moping in the background to make much headway with Layla. Hugo disappeared on a mission right after inviting Layla to join the pack and you don’t read about him for the rest of the book, and Aaron you “meet” on literally the last page on the book as he runs into her on the train headed back to the conservatory. This book was a MESS! And these alphas did not deserve an omega as sweet and kind as Layla. I’m usually okay with “bully” romances as long as the characters grovel A LOT. The problem with this book was that the characters were so despicable and their actions were so heinous I can’t think of any situation where there would be enough groveling to make up for what they put her through. No. The only way part two of Layla’s story can be salvaged is if Hugo, Ollie and Laith form a pack that is solely just them and Layla! The hell with the other alphas and betas, they aren’t worth the dirt on the toe of Layla’s shoes. Okay, Aaron might be fine, he’s bonded to Hugo, and he seemed to want Layla, if one paragraph was enough to go by, but the others can get tossed. I am soooooo upset by this story. Layla deserved such a better story than the one she got, and she definitely deserved better alphas and betas. Again, I can’t believe the author wrote Marcellus and Callista into this story as part of THE PACK. They are two of the worst characters I’ve read about in a long time, and you leave the book HATING them so fiercely that there is no way the author can redeem them or that story arc!!
This was a terrible offering by this author who had begun the series strongly. Katie’s two books were entertaining and engaging, and even though there was mm, the attention was split pretty evenly between both the male lovers and Katie. I didn’t feel as if she was being displaced or that she wasn’t wanted. In Layla’s book Ruel is ACTIVELY GAY, and isn’t interested in Layla, even though he’s blood matched to her! He doesn’t feel a pull to her scent and treats her like she’s furniture. Hugo isn’t present, Aaron isn’t present. Laith is moping and thus not present, Sebastian is so full of self loathing and still in love with his first bonded omega so he isn’t present. Marcellus is the biggest a-hole I’ve ever read about and Callista is a witch with a capital B, you hate them, like loath them. Etta is like a sister, and Ollie is the only nice and welcoming alpha, but reads like a golden retriever, without any “bite.” The book is the biggest omegaverse failure ever!!! I’m angry on Layla’s behalf that she’ll be “stuck” with them in book two because obviously Hugo and who know who else will come to her “rescue” and she eventually forgive the lot of them and become part of the pack. But honestly if I were in her shoes I’d refuse to bond any of them or be in a pack with them if Marcellus and Callista remained in the pack. Kick Marcellus and Callista out and MAYBE, just maybe the rest could grovel enough for my tastes. Oh, Ruel would need to go to. Sorry, but it’s LAYLA’S STORY, NOT Ruel’s thus Layla is the center the nucleus. And having a gay character who isn’t interested in sex or bonding included in a polyamorous pack makes ZERO SENSE!! If he were bi, that would be a bit better, not much, but better. But him being gay just makes this entire omega is the center of the pack etc. ridiculous. This isn’t a pack, it’s a disassembled motley group of idiots.
God, I love Ramona’s books. This book is the third in the Wilder Omegas universe, and I’m so in love with it.
Layla is a fairly reluctant, but still hopeful, omega. I loved how much effort she put in to try to get to know everyone in the pack. I was SO intrigued by Hugo in the last book, and he really lived up to the hype I was building in my head. I love his steadiness and strength.
There’s so much slow burn and yearning mixed in with the angst and conflict, and I ate it uppppp. The pay offs were so satisfying after all the build up!
This might be the biggest pack I’ve ever read about in Omegaverse, and I loved seeing how all the personalities go together. The setting was also really cool, very gothic vibes!
I find this world to be so fascinating, and I loved learning even more about the history and what is currently happening. This pack especially is very involved in everything going on!
It was also great to see Katie and her pack some more!! Adore them.
This book is genuinely so so good, I loved these characters and I’m dyingggg for part 2!!
Truly closer to 4.5 starts then 4. Oh Layla. Ramona Maxine has written a beautiful story that isn't all candy and flowers but real and captivating. It kept me reading until that cliffhanger. I cannot wait to see how this ends.
Spoilers below.
Layla is still acclimating to a new world and designation, all while finding a blood match, and fighting some serious anxiety. Perhaps even trauma from an emotionally abusive ex, as well as watching several family members sick or injured in hospital beds.
All while relocating to a new home away from her sisters, the only member of the pack she is moving in with is called away for a work mission. So she travels alone for three days on a train to a new home with people she's never met except for one she's only received letters from. Instead of the welcome she's expecting, it seems constant rejection and mean jabs are sent her way.
I loved this story and can't wait to see how it ends. I would love to kick a few members of the pack to the side "Marcellus and Callista" and see if Sebastian can come to his senses and redeem himself. I love that there's a background for each character and pain you can feel through them. I can't wait to find out what or who it was on the fourth floor and what happens when the storm hits.
This is an honest review in exchange for an ARC. I'm truly sad I'll have to wait so long for part 2 since I got to read part 1 early.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was waiting for it! I knew something and yet I still dont know anything! lmao. I really enjoyed this story! I love when most of the pack is all in and some are @ssh0les! it not often that I actually hate characters though! I really enjoyed the characters and the way the pack works, but i really want more!!
When I read the first duet in this series, it was unlike any omegaverse that I had ever read. A group of five sisters sucked into a world where they discover a place of Alphas, Omegas, and Betas. I loved reading Katie’s story and how the sister’s adapted to their new world and attempted to figure out what exactly had happened to them. I was interested to see where the next book would go. Reading the beginning of Layla’s story, I really thought that we were in for a completely different story. And it is different from the first duet. But I was really thrown for a loop where this story went from the beginning. I thought this was going to be a nice, sweet omegaverse, with some friction with the new alphas, like many of the omegaverses I read. But what I got was something very different. We get a large dose of angst thrown in and end up with a cliffhanger that has me itching for book two. This is another omegaverse where the pack is more of a family than all in intimate relationships with each other. This is a big pack with seven alphas and three betas, where some alphas are bonded to some betas and some aren’t bonded at all. It’s a pack that has had its fair share of tragedy and has been affected more than most by the wars of the surrounding territories. It makes things more than difficult for the FMC.
Layla is definitely a different omega than Katie. As more of the caretaker of the group, she fits into the omega role fairly easily. But as one of the Wilder sisters, she still has that fiery streak that makes her a feisty Omega. In the beginning, when she is being wooed by Hugo, I really thought this was going to be nice and sweet. Hugo is the ideal pack Alpha, strong, distinguished, and caring. He convinced Layla that life would be perfect with his pack. Laith assisted with his romantic love letters that he wrote. But when Layla arrives at the pack home and Hugo is away with work, she finds that things are not all sunshine and rainbows. This pack has suffered and three of the alphas have no interest, with at least one being downright nasty. Laith is battling his own demons, and you just can’t wait for him to let down his walls. Etta and Ollie were some wonderful and the two that really take to Layla. And a certain alpha and beta can really just go somewhere.
I love this series and this book, while different than the first duet, was so good. There is some spice, but nothing is rushed so the spice is not overpowering. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so be ready to sweat it out for book two.
Call me crazy, but after the 1st part of Katie’s story (the 1st duet), I knew this was gonna be one of those series that I eagerly anticipated each new release, and would need to devour each new book the moment it got into my hands. I found myself getting drawn into Layla’s story just as easily & quickly as Katie’s. Our spice clicks into place very early thanks to the chemistry between Layla & Hugo, but so does the intrigue, suspense, and danger. When Hugo is pulled away while Layla goes on to meet the rest of his pack though, that’s when things start going awry. It swings from pure sweetness (the love letters…I can’t begin to explain how my heart swooned for those things 😍) to pure torture (let’s just say a few people were not on board the “let’s get an omega train”). Cause while the book started out looking like Layla was going to have a fairytale courting from Hugo & his pack, it slowly started falling apart & becoming obvious that that was not the case. It all comes to a head at the very end causing the unbonded Layla to do something very foolish, but it also led to a startling discovery that had my heart pounding in anticipation…and then the book ended 🥺 WHYYYYYY 😭🤣 Let’s just say, I reeeeeeally would like the 2nd part right now 😝 The sooner the better in my opinion 😂 If you love the thought of a series of books about people like us who have fallen into another world where the omegaverse is real, then this is where you need to be! Start with the 1st duet though, because yeah, you can read Layla’s story without it (and still love it!), but you get such a stronger full emotional impact if you start at the beginning of the sisters’ stories. I can’t wait for ALL the books in this series. Ramona is definitely a one-click author for me now. Grab this series to find out why ❤️
Not your Omega Darling by Ramona Maxine is the third book in the Wilder Omegas Omegaverse series. You do not need to read books one and two before this one, but you will see characters and read spoilers from those books. I was on the fence reading the series when reading the descriptions, but once I started reading it was hooked.
Layla and her sisters entered a new world in the previous books. In this world, each individual is an alpha, beta or omega which is completely different from where they came. All the Wilder sisters are omegas; each duet will tell the story of one sister's pack.
Lyala finds out that she is a blood match of the pack of Duke Monrhutton, Hugo. They hit it off right away and she is excited and a little scared to meet the seven other members of the pack she is matched to. Laith writes her letters so they can learn more about each other before meeting. Hugo cannot travel with her to meet the rest of the pack for the first time, but she has her letters from Laith to keep her company.
She is not given a warm welcome by all the members of the pack except for Ollie. She has not been told all the important past events of this pack that still inform their actions.
Will Lyala become the center holding this pack together? Will all the pack members want to bond her? Will the pack be able to find common ground with their new omega?
I greatly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading part two of this duet. This book did end on a cliffhanger. Go read this book now!
This was my first 'off world' Omegaverse style story and I was pleasantly surprised! Lucky enough to get an ARC to read, I was impressed. The author is new to me and I absolutely LOVED what she was doing with the whole Bronte style retelling here. Moody, gothic, and bursting at the seams with possibility, I was legit ticked off that I couldn't just roll into the second half of the story!
Basically, you've got a world where human women have been pulled across space and time to a planet far from Earth. There they morph into Omegas and are transitioned into their new roles as best they can. Our heroine meets with a charming and seductive lord who convinces her to visit his manor, only he gets drawn away on spy business. Once she gets there she finds that not all is what it seems, nor as it was presented to her.
The alpha she'd been exchanging love letters with? He's badly scarred, inside and out... far more reserved than the passionate man she'd been corresponding with. Another alpha is distracted and spacy, while yet another and his mate are outright hostile, and only the youngest is welcoming, a bright spot in the darkness. Things are just starting to get serious when she flees the manor after discovering the secret that's hiding on the forbidden third floor and the cliffhanger had me gnashing my teeth.
Absolutely worth the read if you're a fan of moody, gothic retellings. You won't be disappointed.
First of all... I stayed up until 3 am devouring this. Everything flowed, the tension was tensing, the chemistry was sizzling, and the plot was plotting.
Ramona drops us back into the Omegaverse with the Wilder sisters who fell through a portal into a world full of Alphas, Betas, and most importantly to the story... omegas.
Dealing with politics, rogue Alphas, infighting between groups, the Wilder sisters have to figure out what they want from this world on top of surviving being Amaata's most desired. Dubbed the first Travelers in hundreds of years, everyone wants to take a bite out of them. Will the blood bonded they have protect them? Help them grow?
This story is about the second oldest sister, Layla, as she travels much farther to meet the pack she has been told is ready and waiting for her. The reality when she gets there is much different....
That ENDING!!! I need Pt 2 TOMORROW! If you love omegaverses, take a dive into this one asap!
Thank you Ramona Maxine for my advance reader copy! This is my honest and unbiased review.
I loved this book! I like they we get to continue and see the sisters find their place in this new world. I like that the sisters make cameos but don’t overtake each other’s stories.
This story follows Layla. Layla knows what she wants. She’s been through the classes and has a better understanding of her quickly approaching heat, scent matches, packs, alphas and even her omega designation. She’s matched via a blood test to a huge well known pack on the coast. She meets Hugo who is pack alpha. It’s pretty much insta lust at first sight. However Hugo gets called away to deal with some stuff and Layla ends up traveling alone and meeting the pack on her own. She is met with mixed emotions about her visiting. This pack has some serious handgrips with her and themselves. Layla tries to navigate her feelings and getting to know the pact. One things leads to another and Layla decides the pack is not a fit and runs.
I love that Layla knows her boundaries and isn’t a complete pushover. There are alphas you’re going to want to smash their faves and other you wanna cuddle and hug. This book ends in a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for part 2.
This is a fresh take on the omegaverse, and it’s a fantastic read.
I love the concept of five sisters from Earth who end up going through a portal to a new world inhabited by Alphas, Omegas, and Betas. The story focuses on Layla, who is trying to navigate this unfamiliar world while suddenly discovering that she is an Omega—something she knows nothing about.
However, the pack she encounters is deeply flawed and troubling, with the exception of Ollie, Laith (though he has a mixed personality), and Etta. The actions and words of the other members of the pack truly disgusted me, especially the piano scene.
Overall, it’s a captivating read that really engaged my emotions, and I can't wait for the next book!
I'm in love. I will prefix that when I read this book if did not know it was about sisters and one sister already had a book set out. Saying that I now have to go read that set once I get to read all of Layla's story. I love Layla as a character and her story is very compelling full of miscommunication and perceived slights and outright slights. Makes a person want to smack fictional characters upside the head. The cliffhanger is real and has me begging for the rest of the story to see what happens next, answer questions left unanswered, and find out how hard the smack down is on Marcellus and Callista (hint: hopefully epic). This is a definite read and if can't for its conclusion and the other sisters' books.
I finished this book in almost one sitting! I started it before bed, stayed up wayyy too late reading and then got up early in the morning to finish it before work. Therefore, it’s gotta be 5 stars. I was really excited for the is Heroine as she’s adjusting to being an omega better than her older sister did in the first books and that type of heroine is generally more palatable to me. It’s starts off hot and heavy but soon goes more into a slow burn with the rest of the pack. The members of this pack did pmo quite a bit but overall I really like the way this duet is going. I am a little annoyed that the only black women in the story is the “mean girl” or villain, but otherwise I loved it.
This is the second sister in tbr Wilder Sagas. I love the thought and idea of this series and how original the story is written. Though I did sniffle a bit, Layla puts on a brave face, but she is like any other person, still waters run deep.
I loved Hugo and Ollie, Laith started out so romantic just said no matter what words were exchanged Doubt always caps in for both
I'm hoping Bast with recover after this And Marcus.. he is my least favorite, that is for sure. I can't wait for part two
I loved Katie’s duet and Layla’s is shaping up to be just as strong. Jumping back in to the Wilder sister's saga sees Layla working hard to cope with anxiety and trust what she is told about her new world and situation. But when everyone around her is keeping secrets or trying to keep her away, she has to make a drastic and potentially dangerous choice. I can’t wait to see what happens in part two.
This book was everything i hoped it would be. The snipped we got of layla in Katie's book left me frothing at the mouth in anticipation for her story and Ramona did not disappoint!
It starts off like a fairytale with the dream romance but not everyone in the pack is as excited to see her. The slow burn was delicious to read, the build up to bringing them together was refreshing and reveals so much more of layla... hopefully we will have more? I know bear is going to be *chefs kiss*
Such a great read! I absolutely love Layla’s character she’s not only sweet but can stand up for herself. I really feel for her in this book when she is constantly put down, needless to say I hope the next book has tons of groveling for all the shit they put her through. Also such a cliffhanger at the end!

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶.5 This was a great read. Defiantly deferent from most omegavese’s I have read. I loved that we got to meet a lot of the pack. I did not like a few of them and I am hoping that in book two, a few of them just kicked from the pack. Overall, Ramona Maxine this was good. That cliffhanger though got me wanted to scream. I defiantly wanted more.
This was an incredible Omegaverse romance! I absolutely love Layla. Her fears, anexities, inner strength & desire to be loved made her so very real. I adore "some" of her aphas too (emphasis on some) & a few others have potential. The story grabbed me from the beginning & took me on such an emotional adventure. I can not wait to see what will happen next!
A different take on the omegaverse. It had me gripped, reading about Earth people ‘falling’ through a portal to the omegaverse, learning all the customs and ways and even being able to find partners the way ‘normal’ omegaverse characters would is interesting. Plus the way some packs discrimination against ‘Travelers’ is so like real life. Can’t wait for the conclusion!!
Layla is one of the sisters that came through a portal and is an Omega as a traveler. She is matched as a blood match with this pack. But, she is wondering if besides Owen she is not meant to be in this pack. She isn't welcomed by anyone but Ella and Owen. The ending is a cliffy but I know that book2 is going to be amazing.
Not Your Omega Darling, Part One is book three in the Wilder Omegas Omegaverse Series by Ramona Maxine. This book follows Layla, one of the Wilder sisters, who is getting to meet her soon to be pack. It's not an easy road and some in the pack do not make it easy for Layla. This does leave us on a cliff hanger. Can not wait until the next one to see what happens!
Absolutely love reading about Layla and her pack. Although some of them didn’t warm up to her right away. Definitely need book 2 after that cliffy. Hope it comes out soon. In the meantime I’m going to read the first 2 books in the series. First time reading a book by Ramona Maxine and absolutely loved it!!!
I loved Layla's story. There were creepy mansion vibes, mystery, angst, drama and spice. Although the pack was huge, the characters all had distinct personalities and did not blend together once you got to know who's who. Some of them I liked while others I wanted to punch through a wall. It ends in a cliffhanger and I can't wait for Part 2.
This story has a lot of emotions and kept me reading way into the night. I am very curious to get to part two because it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger. Reread worthy.
I love the unique take on the OV!!! I can’t wait for the 2nd half of Laylas story. Don’t question if you should read this. Know you should two thumbs way way up
What? You can't do that! I waited like forever! This is why I hate reading unfinished books... Sorry my Queen, I love your books but I can't wait two years again....
