They were expecting boredom. They got a bloodbath.
Outpost Four was supposed to be a quiet rotation—babysit a radar dish in the frozen mountains and count the days. But when Bravo Team arrives, they find the base in ruins. No signs of life. No signs of Alpha Team. Only wreckage… and something watching. A monstrous predator has awakened beneath the ice—an ancient terror shaken loose by a recent earthquake. Towering at eighteen feet, possessed by murderous instinct, it has emerged from the cavern to kill.
Now Bravo Team is being hunted—stalked, ambushed, and torn apart one by one.
The snow runs red. The beast has come. And it wants more than territory. It wants blood.
Michael R. Cole is an author of creature horror and science fiction. He was born in Toledo, Ohio and grew up in lower Michigan. He has a profound love for monster movies and book as well as the action genre. In addition to writing, his hobbies include martial arts and fishing.
Mr. Cole never disappoints. But how on earth did he manage to bring space tavel, frozen planet, brave soldiers and huge rats to round out the Yeti? Like all really wonderful fiction the pace is fast, but slows down to let you get to feel you know, love and hate, who the cast are. You care, darn it. Can't thank you enough for all the entertainment you have brought me and so many others.
The concept of a Yeti on another planet is a bit bizarre. But then again, so is the idea of something similar to Godzilla also being on said planet. Perhaps there will be another book explaining the origins of the creatures?
Beast of Death Cavern is a short, fast paced book about a military team who encounters an unknown animal after an quake on a distant planet exposes a previously unknown ecosystem. Its more action and gore than substance and we don't get to know the characters well, but, beyond that, its well written and a good choice for the right reader. 4/5 stars, recommended for adults looking for a fast paced, gore laden horror thriller.
Loved this. Just my type of read. Doesn't break any new ground, but it's a fun ride.
Mix of short and long chapters keep the story pacing good. It's a relatively quick read, and the author details characters, the environment, and the creatures very well. Very immersive.
If you're looking for a cryptid action thriller then this will more than do the job. Reminded me a lot of the S Squard series by William Meikle.
Wow this story is so exciting.I was turning the pages over so quickly because I was so caught up in the action.A thrill a minute.More please.Recommended
As their routine rotation starts, Bravo Team finds Alpha Team missing and the base camp in disarray. As the situation escalates, the team finds themselves up against a giant yeti, who seems to enjoy inflicting pain and destruction. Good story with an interesting set of characters.
Just what you might expect from cryptic horror book. Your typical Yeti kills everything, except on another planet. If you like no character development, blood and guts, this one's for you. No surprises, except maybe the 18 foot crocodile.
Such a good read. Space exploration, Yeti and dinosaurs. A little romance and a mad scientist. What more can you ask for? Gory and highly entertaining.
Cole's books are always intense, propelling you to turn the pages. The characters draw you in. You choose sides and root for the victor. Adventure and imagination.
