Based on the movie rather than really being a Paddington story.

Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

Boy what exuberance was found in my five and three year old daughters as we opened our review box today and discovered five new Paddington titles. We're about 80% completed through A Bear Called Paddington and excited to start More about Paddington soon. We're also not movie-goer people, but I'm fairly certain we'll go to see the Paddington movie when it releases in January as Paddington has become quite the staple read in our evenings.

'Paddington's World' is a neat little interactive 8x8" paperback book and 'Paddington in London' is an information screen on the page story as well for the 8x8" paperback set. And releasing at the same times are two I Can Read! Level 1 readers including 'Meet Paddington' and 'Paddington's Adventures'.

I have to admit that I have never read the original Paddington stories so I can not compare this version to the originals. Still this was a decent book. I read it with my youngest son as part of his school's reading program and he seemed to enjoy it. Definitely a tie in for the movie that came out last year, as the book is illustrated with loads of pictures from the film. Probably not as good as the original but for what it is pretty good.

loving Paddington!

What is there not to love about such a bear? I gave the book less than five stars because the story felt fragmented and incomplete in the latter half. Otherwise it seems lovely. Though stills from the movie are less charming than the original illustrations. That was a disappointment.
