I should’ve left her alone. The night she crawled into my bed, I knew it would destroy us both. I let it happen anyway. Then I let her go.
Four years. That’s how long I’ve spent building an empire with one purpose. To make sure she’d need me again. And now she’s crawled back.
She thinks this opportunity is her big break. She has no idea the lengths I’ve gone to make it happen. Or that I’ve already blackballed her from every other future, except the one I want. With her. Now she’s trapped, thinks she hates me. Good. She should. Because I’ll ruin her all over again before I let her slip through my fingers twice.
I tell myself this isn’t love. Love doesn’t look like obsession. It doesn’t taste like unhinged insanity. But then I’ve never wanted gentle. And if she doesn’t know that about me yet, she will. Soon.
Title: Jealous Stepbrother Author: B. J. Mann Genre: Dark Romance Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Main Characters: Asher & Scarlett Book Type: Stand-alone
When I say I want a book with so much controlling obsession, so bad it needs to be in a straight jacket and put in a padded cell, this I the book I mean.
This was a quick read but it packed a punch. It was so freaking good and I’m literally obsessed with Asher.
If you love them obsessed, controlling, possessive and mouthy, go pick this book up immediately.

Saw this book on the Breeder Readers romance Facebook group.i was excited to read. Love BC tampering. Love this: morally gray hero, not too long, just enough plot, taboo, possessive, and lots of spice. Will read more by this author. Always looking for my next read and this author does not disappoint.
This is what I mean when I say: I want an over the top possessive MMC...this right here!!!! Loved it... it took me forever to finish it not cause it was bad ...it's too good I didn't wanted to end.... loved it!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I want more Asher!!!!
Omg. Talk about over the top EVERYTHING. I love a possessive, controlling, confident MMC, but this was just ridiculous and came across and the complete opposite. To the point the MMC actually came across as incredibly insecure. Both of these characters need some mood stabilizers and some therapy to learn how to freakin communicate! This whole book was a giant case of miscommunication. The MMC realizes the FMC is confused and needing reassurance? Nah. Just omit everything that would fix it. The FMC needs space? Nah, just overwhelm her and bang.
You know the point in a good book where the whole plot leads up to a breaking point? The suspense peaks, the problems come to a head, everything crashes down to be rebuilt? That was this entire book. One long dramatic scene after another with zero resolution to the point it got so boring.
Plus, I looooove me some step family romance, but I just didnt like this one. The parents met when the FMC was 17. The MMC was like 10 years older and was never around. Like its briefly mentioned he disappeared for an entire year (the FMC's entire 18th year). Then he shows up briefly and vanishes again for four more years. Although legally they may be step siblings, they BARELY spent any time together. I dont know how anyone, especially their parents can see it as soooooooo taboo. She wasnt raises around him, she wasnt groomed, she was practically a legal adult when he first set eyes on her. It just made the angst of "we're family, we cant do this what would everyone think?" seem sooooo unbelievable. Unimportant. An obscure fact" that shouldn't really play such a significant role in the plot.
I honestly DNF'd the book the last 20 pages, but i marked it as read because i deserve it being added to my stas after suffering through this whole thing.
I didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it. Would say it’s my second least favorite in the series. I didn’t really mind Asher—he’s off his rocker of course. The FMC annoyed me. I also wish Asher didn’t keep calling her “his baby sis” or have her call him her brother. I get the whole taboo aspect but too much of it leans into incest. I liked the scene where Asher’s dad pulled him away when Scarlett and Annette went out to brunch. He should’ve known that was happening lol. I liked also when Scarlett left and went to Italy. I feel like that was the only (short lived moment) she wasn’t a doormat and did something not under Asher’s control.
- age gap (19/29) - stepbrother - bc tampering - ultra possessive
So I read this for the bc tampering and breeding, it’s pretty light on those and not until about 75% in. I was disappointed the first sex scene where she loses her virginity is fade to black. I love an OTT obsessive H but this one was a little TOO much to the point of ridiculousness and repetitive. The heroine was just there, I didn’t feel much of a personality, she was naive and other than the Prologue was a doormat. I’ll try other works by this author though.
