I knew the score when I came to Wolf Hollow. Get in, get out with as much cash and treasure as possible. Easy, simple and nothing that I haven’t accomplished before. Except somewhere along the way I made a wrong turn. Now I’m trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the most vicious and captivating woman I have ever met. It’s a race to the finish line and I’m not so sure I will make it out of this one alive. I thought being the wolf meant I’m the bad guy. Now I know I was never at the top of the food chain. That spot has always belonged to the hunter. And Calista Drache just so happens to be looking for a new fur coat.
Jade Everhart writes heart-warming romances with flawed characters and laugh-out-loud banter. When she's not using her own terrible meet-cutes as inspiration for her next novel, Jade spends her time listening to loud music and tearing up dance floors from the prairies of Southern Alberta to the glistening beaches of Miami. Holy h*ll Jade has done it again, delivered a book that is so steamy and delicious I couldn't put it down. Calista already had my heart in book 1 (The Sea Witch's Son, also a must-read!) but with this book focused on her it made me fall even harder.
Calista is the unhinged FMC of my dreams, strong, fierce, badassery personified but with the saddest backstory, I just wanted to hug her but she'd probably stab me for even trying. The twist was so cleverly woven into the story, it was absolute perfection.
The trauma bonding was on point, both her and Christopher had me tearing up at what they've had to endure, and I loved that they just *got* each other. They understood each other's pain, and together they became a force of nature.
I love a found family trope, and I loved this one; Christopher's especially, but also Calista's, even if it was more subtle.
Villains are fascinating characters, and I love that Jade doesn't shy away from making them actually violent and morally black (not grey, but fully black) because they actually are villains, not just pretending to be. Check TW before diving into this one but know that it is dark, spicy, violent and absolutely deliciously written.
I highlighted SO MANY quotes reading this, Jade's writing is absolutely phenomenal, and the way it perfectly sets up the next book in the series? Loved it!
Thank you to Jade Everhart for a copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
Jade Everhart has done it again! Get ready for heists and traps and twists and turns around every corner. I couldn’t put this book down and I absolutely loved following Christopher and Calista through this novel. 10/10, another stellar novel by Everhart!
AMAZING! A massive thank you to Jade Everhart for the ARC. I have been absolutely feral for this book since it was announced, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. While I went in expecting the high-stakes action and "cat and mouse" game promised in the blurb, I was not expecting the incredible journey of emotional recovery this story turned out to be.
Both Calista and Christopher are such powerhouse leads, but I have to talk about Christopher specifically. He is written as this strong, morally grey thief, but honestly, he is so much more than that. I loved that he isn't afraid to submit to Calista; he knows that showing her his truth and his trauma is okay. It was so moving to see a male lead who acknowledges his scars and is open about his desire to be loved by his mom. Watching them both navigate their deep trauma—both physical and mental—was incredibly emotional and rewarding.
Also, can we talk about the Disney Easter eggs?! They were absolutely awesome and such a fun addition to the story. Be prepared, because this book is SPICY; the chemistry is off the charts and the banter is absolutely top-tier. Even though some of the tropes aren't usually my "go-to," the writing was so compelling that I loved every single minute of it. The found family aspect was another standout, and I would have loved even more of Christopher's team because their dynamic is just that good. This book hits every mark: big heists, non-stop action, and deeply resonant character growth. The lead-up to book three has me so excited, though I’m already sad that we have to wait a while!
The Dragon’s Daughter by Jade Everhart @authorjade_everhart
Book Review : 5 ⭐️ Spice Level : 3.5 🌶️
Guys, to say I’m obsessed with this story is an understatement. I want to say Thank you to Jade Everhart for trusting me to be apart of her team and for the opportunity to get an ARC of this book!
This book pulled me in way faster than I expected. This book really said “What if Disney villains grew up, joined the mafia, and caught feelings?” and I will never recover.
The praise kink? Immaculate. The tension? Constant. The spice and unforgiving love? Memorable. The Disney Easter eggs? Dark, clever, and ridiculously fun to catch.
The main Characters, Calista and Christopher have an intense connection, it was messy, feral and built through dangerous heists, shared trauma, and a bond that feels just as destructive as it is addictive.
The Dragon’s Daughter had me hooked from page one. The characters, emotional tension, and the mix of found family and romance had me fully locked in and desperately rooting for them the entire time.
One of my favorite parts? The Disney Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the book. They’re clever, dark, and woven in so smoothly that they add an extra layer of fun without pulling you out of the story. If you love spotting subtle nods and twisted fairytale vibes, you’re going to eat this up.
Jade has nailed it again. Maleficent's daughter and Cruelle Devilles Son are pure perfection. The banter, tension and chemistry of these two is the chefs kiss. Christopher Deville is firmly cemented in book boyfriend royalty. I loved Marlin but the Devil as Calista calls him knocked him off his perch. Definitely recommend
