Rain is no stranger to the Pacific Northwest. And neither is murder.
Reporter Kate Craig is haunted by her past. A dead boyfriend and a sister on the run from the law for a crime she didn’t commit. Each night she tries to numb away the pain, only to wake the next morning in a world where suffering and death are once again in full bloom. Her job is the only part of Kate’s life that isn’t dead in the water. But that may be about to change.
Detective Clay Moore is on the trail of a coldblooded murderer. Although the killer’s motives are a mystery, his methods are as clear as the rain that keeps falling. But the closer Moore gets, the more distracted he grows. He just can’t stop thinking about a certain reporter. It’s something he didn’t see coming. And that’s a problem. Because in Portland, what you don’t know can do more than hurt you. It can get you killed.
A heart-pounding, edgy thrill ride through the slick streets of the Rose City, Whiskey Rain launches a new romantic suspense series from Jools Sinclair and Emily Jordan.
Please note: If this book were a movie it would be rated R for language.
Jools Sinclair lives and writes in the in-between world of Bend, Oregon, where sunlight kisses snow, mountains reach for the desert, and long summer days cascade into night. She watches it all, perched atop her butte, with her giant orange cat.
Over the years I have grown to love the 44 series by Jools Sinclair and so when I heard there was to be a new offering called Whiskey Rain I was not too sure what to think as it saw the journey being taken from a character I had grown to be rooting for through the 44 series but this was seeing how she was doing in her own right.
This is a book by the author that remains true to the work done in the 44 series but also has a slight twist thanks to her having worked with Emily Jordan and this really does give a slightly different feel that works well.
I really enjoyed this book and would love to see more of the same soon.
This book had me in it's grips from the first page. Jools Sinclair is the top of the class for writers, anything that she writes is golden. I liked this being about Abby Craig's (forty four series) sister Kate Craig and we get to know her more in depth. I couldn't put this down and highly recommend it, unless you mind being obsessed with a book that is.
Kate Craig is alone now and in Portland. Ben is dead; her sister Abby is on the run and accused of his murder. When Kate's not working her Portland reporter beat, she's drowning herself in amber, whiskey that is.
Kate catches a break when her boss assigns her a murder story. Also working the murder is handsome, recently divorced Detective Clay Moore. The magnetic attraction is apparent, but like some magnets they're repelled by each other. Unfortunately, her reporting has also drawn the attention of another, and he could be the death of her.
Jools does it again. I am a major fan of her anxiously awaiting January 2015's next installment of Forty-Four. It was so nice though to read a story focused on big sister Kate, while Abby is laying low. I was thrilled to see David Norton, one of my all time very favorite characters in this one. I've never ran across a character like him and I just love this guy!!
Just when you thought it was time to stop reading...
I started reading this book and couldn't put it down, I'd get to a part and tell my self right after this page. Then something would happen and I couldn't. Abby Craig in the 44 -series is amazing. But her sister Kate the one thought to be quiet sister without the gift of seeing ghosts has her own wicked sense going on. I can't wait to read the next book in the whiskey creek series and come to be fascinated with the next book of the Craig sisters
I loved this new extension/branch of the 44 series. Kate Craig is just as interesting as her sister, and the story line to this new novel was just as engrossing as the 44 books. I couldn't pull myself away. The characters in this book are complex and intriguing, and though I finished the book, I want to continue reading about them. I hope the next book in the series comes out soon! Thanks for a fantastic read Jools and Emily!
Very nice novella. Slow start but eventually the story starts getting the heart pumping. The ending (s) are great. I hope the author writes more from Kate's perspective.
I really enjoyed the book. Even though it was a Novella it blended nicely and didn't seem all to rush to me. I have read the 44 Series by this author so I knew this book would be just as great. I highly recommend this author!
I enjoyed this novella. I loved the 44 series and this is about Abby's sister Kate. She's a journalist in Portland. I like how this is going into the crimes/murders/suspects route. Jools' writing is good and easy to get into.
